Finally, someone that actually explains air rolling properly, all these other youtubers expect us to know it already
I can relate, I just watched almost 7 hours of tutorials but still don’t know what I’m doing
I watched A LOT of videos and they all expect us to know how to air control and just talking about how to improve this mechanic i know what u were feeling before seeing this video
@@ryanjomon ha same this guy really knows how to explain it thoroughly from this coaching vid I have gotten better so quickly than with other youtubers help, honestly this guy is THE GOAT 🐐
i was goin to say the same. lol it makes better sense now.
Thanovic is a good alternative.
Been waiting for someone to explain how to actually turn while air rolling rather than just saying "intentionally mess up and practice recovering"
me to ive been waiting for it my whole life and finally someone made a tutoriaal
seriously, I spent weeks of trial and error to figure it out. I don't understand why its a big secret with everyone else. This is an awesome tutorial. I'm so close to getting it down but this gave some good tips im going to incorporate.
@@malburrgg4246 i got it down on my first try
Watch “Thanovic”
You turn the same as without rolling depending on what direction your car is facing, no need to explain the obvious.
Out of the whole video, the part where he said 'you only have to either push the joystick up to the right or down to the right' has helped the most..I was pushing it to the left all the time and it became uncontrollable at that point. Great video man keep it up !
Thank you
Yeah but for me it doesnt work it doesnt steer at all wtf
@@SpookLuke so of I air roll to the right I push the stock the the left instead?
@@fahralyacoub8970 yes to the top left and bottom left on air roll right
doesnt work for me, i think you ha ve to go bottom right to turn right with air roll right

I actually really appreciate the small and useful tips you give in these videos. It really breaks it down to a different level for someone that may not be as consistent with learning mechanics
Thank you for this. It’s very helpful to hear the general idea and tips. It’s always been so confusing to me but this is a huge step to understanding how you’re supposed to think about air-roll

*TIP FOR CONSOLE* place your car in front of the goal(facing it) then hover and aim to each corner whilst air rolling left/right and then differentiate and add a twist(preference) I found this helped me get the "aiming" aspect of it down a little, hope this helps:)
That is a really great idea for a drill for console players! Thanks for sharing 👍
Huh
Finally, a clear video on the subject, i've waited for ages for this you're amazing
It’s like you read my mind on what videos I need, I’ve been practicing air roll a lot and this video has come just at the right time, thanks man 🙏🙏
this is the best air roll tutorial i’ve ever seen
That is awesome to hear thank you so much!!
@@SpookLuke Absolutely agree with @imalightswitch Have never had to hit the suscribe till today :)
I truly have no idea how you have only 5% of your viewers as subscribers. You're literally a legend when it comes to teaching. No hyperbole.
That's exactly how I learned to handle my air roll left and I think I nearly perfected it. (I barely have any blackout moments and I can continually spin) I practiced the rings map everyday with continually spinning and it took a long time to build this muscle memory but eventually you will get it. Push yourself and keep trying, I'm now trying to learn air roll right!
Idk how to move the stick, because he says that you must move it down to the right and up to the right but he moves it more than that.
@@ivangrinsztajn3655 the thing is you can't just depend on his directions he's giving you. Learning how to air roll left is a process and you will only get better by failing over and over again until your brain learns how it works correctly. So just keep trying to do the rings map und you will figure it out eventually.
Oh and also I quit Rocket League about a year ago😭
@@sanstheskeleton1512 Oh! How much did u train a day?
i almost have 2,000 hrs in this game, and i could never understand air roll, i have gone through soooooo many videos and tips. This video has opened my eyes to the air roll world and i really appreciate it. You have done amazing on this.
I recently got to a point where air roll is more of a priority mechanic to learn. I do air roll but more for angled shots or clears than rings map style.
I've been using manual air roll and watched a few videos and still was totally in the dark. Then I watched this.
I can't even try it out until tomorrow but this video has actually shed some light on things. It's what I was looking for.
Edit: I got a notification for a like on my post so thought I'd add. Now I can use constant air roll. I'm no god at it but I can get through some of the rings map without letting go. Keep practicing. You'll get there

@@Adam-zo7nz nice, have like 800 hours in the game, D3- Champ 1 and was not able to air roll correctly xD, hope i will get better with the tipps

This tutorial helps tremendously not only did he explain how to go in a certain direction without making it complicated but he goes in depth on the boost and everything else while ur doing it too. This the only good tutorial I’ve seen. by far the greatest video on the subject in my opinion
Great video! I’m a c2 and want to advance mechanically for freestyling. So I just unbound regular air roll yesterday to force my self using air roll right. This video helps a lot good explanation and ideas!

Easily the best air roll tip video I've seen....filled in so many of the gaps for me that other videos have left out...now onward to the training part
very good video bro!!! i had started an soccar map, and first mutate the settings: gamespeed to SLOW-MO and also gravity to LOW. 20 min training and pretty understanding what to do with my car. WITH BIG THANKS TO SPOOKLUKE..
didn't expect too see this easily quick results already. after that i started new 1 with, game speed on default, but still with low graviy,
and wauw that difference is amazing already.
ander after that i putted gravity also to deafult.
im so happy and with promisings results quickly. so the last game is 10min long only air roll (only bpoost still on unlimited..

@@ThePigfaceProduction yes it helps
Ummm why is this one of the best rocket league tutorials on UA-cam?? Professionally laid out for learning🙏🏼💯
Only person I have seen so far to say what to press or move while holding air roll. Thank you soooo much
Dawg I’ve seen so many directional air roll videos and this one, by far, was the most helpful. Literally went over everything from how to make the adjustments to general tips. Everything was so clear and easy to understand too 😌👍🏼
This is the smartest video I’ve ever seen for teaching air rolling in rocket league... thank you
Best video ever. I felt like I needed to comment. Long time UA-cam user, but first time ever commenting on a video as well because I thought it was worth it. Thought this video was the best explanation I’ve ever heard. Keep up the good work.
This is exactly the guide I was looking for a couple of months ago, and when asking people how to actually turn my car in a certain direction while spinning all anyone could ever tell me was “ it’s just practice” …. With literally no tips as to how. Like literally every person I asked after watching their insane gameplay montages. So thank you, thank you so much for this!
omg this dude is so underated he helped me so much with my air control
This is incredibly helpful. The first time I’ve heard anyone talk about learning to simply change direction one way or the other as a step in the learning process. I will definitely implement this into my own very lax training and see if it helps speed up the process lol
I agree
OMG YOU ARE AMAZING, i did rings using your air rolling technique and i can already see progress in 30 minutes, i love you so much, u deserve 1 mil subs right now!!!
The explanations of each and every thing. Such as how to go left compared to right makes everything so much more clear
I learned air rolling a lil differently. I use tornado spins but i use L3 + up or L3+ down to adjust my car's position in the air. I think its pretty cool how people can take dufferent roads to get to the same place.
How did you learn please tell me. They video is kind of confusing still
@@myron9 whats your epic name I'll teach you
@@dr33j92 WreckedByMyron
@@myron9 mine is smart_frame85 try to add me
if your cars bottom is facing you then you press the opposite directions to air roll in the direction you want, for example, if your cars bottom faces you and you want to turn left, do air roll left and push up and to the right, and vice versa.
So I also gotta switch the joystick direction depending on if the car top is facing me or not?
I think you've hit an important distinction here. When the video freezes (9:12) he's saying "the adjustment happens when you see the hood of your car", but actually at that point he freezes in the spin, what I would refer to as the "hood" of the vehicle is facing away from the camera and we're looking at the underside (undercarriage) of the vehicle. I've been doing my spins all wrong, went to free play waited for the hood to face away from the camera, and then push up/right or down/left on the left analog. Worked just fine.
I have watched alot of tutorials on air rolling. This is for sure the best i have watched. Great job, keep it up :)
Thanks man, I was wondering about stuff like this and this helped me understand. I’m going to start practicing tomorrow morning. Thanks for the actually helpful information.
Any chance ur still doing the coach to gc thing, would love that, I’m stuck in silver and gold rank

He's not doing that anymore. Instead he is doing 2 months worth of coaching which is 4 sessions.
This actually helped me so much and I’m getting good now. I would also recommend get the workshop map obstacle course 1. Go on the 3rd part of the map and hold air roll and try make your way all the way to the end. I did this and I learnt in almost 2 hours
Good luck👍👋
do you still use normal air roll for anything
Sweet video my man. This is gonna help a ton and I can already tell. Thanks for the tips, can't wait to get back into training!! 😤🤝
Happy to help!
lots of thanks man, you explained very clearly every steps and turned out very helpful
Spook thank you so much for this video, the only problem is I play on console PS4 and I can't practice the adjustment of arial left, Could u please make a video or let me know how to practice this drill on console. By the way u are my favorite rocket Leage UA-camr because the way u explain and teach us it's very simple and easy to understand. Wish u all the best in life l spook. Love you❤️
I am already GC and have been using the other air roll all my life, just started with directional air roll and seems so clean.
It is obviusly difficult to adapt now, but this was a nice tutorial, will make it a bit easier.
bro same, up until now i strictly used normal air roll and then i’d occasionally use air roll right for tornado. i always wondered why when the pros air roll it looks different and i never understood why. turns out they hardly even use air roll, but almost always use air roll right or left!
Yo same here.

On a serious note, I feel like this is something explaining can help you learn quicker, but ultimately just comes down to grinding it. This is definitely the most in-depth one I've seen.
Thank you very much for making a video that really explains this at a base level. It is very helpful for someone who is starting out.
You're very welcome!
Thankyou sooo much I used to struggle so bad with air roll right thanks to u I have now nearly mastered it in a day

It’s the turning left and right that I didn’t know! Thank you! Now I wanna try it!! Great tutorial so far
Being on console really starts to suck when you try to learn new mechanics
@vqxoo is it a training pack or a map? Because I’m on console so it’s training packs only
Finally some people were like just practice instead of showing how to go left and right
I just came from the trainer pack vid and loved it. Can't wait to learn more!
This is gonna be the thing that gets me past my plateau of low champ... thank you dude you actually explain how to do it in a way that makes sense!
Luke, you say "hold air roll left and press the joystick down and to the right *for the duration of one spin*". Doesn't seem like you're actually doing that on any of these steering drills, I've slowed it down and closely watched your joystick and within a single spin you're doing two to four distinct joystick motions, and they're not even all in the down + right direction. Can you comment more on what your joystick does during that single spin?
Hi Sam, great to see you were paying such close attention. In one of the other later air roll videos this was addressed as it wasn’t something too much emphasis was put on in this earlier video (it’s an evolution this little series!). The inputs are held for roughly half a rotation and the air roll left / right is still held after the input on the stick is stopped. The smaller movements you see spook doing with his analogue stick are tiny corrections you will slowly learn to pick up as you progress. It’s a hard technique to teach exactly as there are so many variables (speed, momentum direction, whether the adjustment needs to point you higher, lower and even your controller settings can affect it too). These videos are to try to provide a very simplified starting block for people to build off as they gain experience. Most people just say “go into free play and work it out by feel” which is not helpful for people who have no clue at all. If you watch the whole series of videos together hopefully this might make it a bit clearer for you and tie it all together. Does this help at all?

Can u make a console friendly one because we don’t have work shop maps
Pillars map and fly figure 8s around them. I'm also training in a private match by myself in SLO mo with low gravity to get the idea down.
Best air control video on youtube 100% been trying to find this thanks bro 🙏
Your videos are so straight forward man. Really nice style 👍👌
So for KBM would someone need to hold air roll left bind and s and d for “down and to the right” on joystick, or just d??
Liked and subscribed for this guide though, great work. Just hoping to be able to translate it to KBM tomorrow. If I can get the turn mechanics the rest should work nicely
I don't actually play with KBM but I would guess if the input on a joystick is down to the right it makes sense it would be the keys needed to move in the same direction on KBM. Good luck with it.
@@SpookLuke taking some experimenting. I haven’t quite got it yet. But the guide still helped a lot.
Thanks man! Much appreciated!

I can now use air rolls in aerial shooting and they are much more powerful and accurate than before!
I'm Grateful.
Wish you the best.
I knew how to air roll but i just couldn't be consistent with it and i was finding to turn during air roll very difficult and i was just going with the flow, but now finally someone explained how to turn right and left during air roll while all the other youtubers i watched never mentioned a thing about turning right and left and expect us to already know how to do it. All i wanna say is THANKS!
Bro this man’s a goat this helped me so much most videos just explain what air roll is and how to practice they never said where to put my joystick
