@@user-mk7yw2jc3p, I discovered this song in a Japanese movie, this piece may be in a lot of movies so it’s quite hard to know from what movie you’re talking about
I was inspired by Olga to learn Gymnopediie 1, 2 and 3. Took me 5 months to learn from scratch and memorized all 3 pieces. I play/practice the Gymnopedies daily to maintain my zen and sanity.
Watching and listening takes me back to my university days when I dated a girl who majored in piano and violin.... I would sit in the practice room and do my math and physics while she played... she liked having me there to listen and I liked her as well as her music. I always envied people who have the talent to play either instrument. But those were and are still great memories.
Ryan, I do the same thing. Pieces of music, whether they be piano or other instrument, symphonic, choral, opera or operetta (I sang choral music for 31 years and sang in 32 opera and operetta choruses) bring up memories and I will comment on them just as this gentleman does about memories of listening to his college girl friend. Try it sometime. You'll like it. :-)
Yes, listening to the music is a great moment, but it must be made afterwards. Eventually the poor talented girl got tired of beeing neglected, that's why she's now just a memory.
What an incredible performance. I love the passion she adds while playing. Just took up piano at age 61 and discovered this song. One of the most beautiful pieces I have every heard and luckily I found a beginner version.
Her specutacular performance with incomparable skill and exquisite technique and beautiful attire is full of admiration , acclaim and deep emotion , and beyond description , and immeasurable , unfathomable and magnificent I'm just intoxicated with her inspirational performance from Japan From Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun 🇯🇵

This is terrific BUT there is an error on the second Gymnopedie - the melody line should be inverted when the main theme is repeated. But this is so nicely played that it scarcely matters.
But Guy Faux is right, Satie didn't write music about technical ability. He wrote with beauty in mind. This piece isn't supposed to be a "beginner" piece. Even though it is slow and appears technically basic, it takes skill to play this with the subtleties correctly.
I've known this piece since i was in single digits, and at 61 it remains one of my favorite pieces of music of any genre for all these years.
hopefully you can still listen to it when you’re on your triple digits, this piece will never get old
Me too, but I don’t remember from where or what movie? Can you help a layman out here with a reference?

I was introduced to this piece while viewing the Queen’s Gambit. Love at first listen.
She moves *and* plays like a gentle wave, a beautiful spirit to see and hear, truly gracious.

utter SIMP
@@OperaBuff1935 I meant the exact comment with the wording.
I don't know of anything so close to perfection as Olga Scheps playing Erik Satie. It leaves me with tears streaming down my face.
You’re simping, this is not that great at all actually, her tempo is too fast
Perfection. Doesn’t get any better than this. Thank you for that performance.
So happy you said this....few equal her.....this is pure bliss. Suspect Frank Glazer's interpretation is worth a listen, too. Peace from Texas.
Awww...I wish I were there... I could listen to your sensitive, enchanting performances for hours.

Wreszcie Polak w komentarzach,bo już myślałem,że nad Wisłą słucha się tylko disco polo.
hERMOSO...
Not bad for a guy who was kicked out of music school and who played his little compositions outside cafés and bars in early 20th Century Paris.
What happened to the volume
Is that all?
"Rich people pay me to play piano so they can feel like they're cultured." Honestly, look at this audience. Amazing playing Mrs. Scheps
That lady in the audience is so rude - never stops talking.
dont move x. x

Nice .. beatifull.. just SOVIÉTICO
She sounds just like the record . 😆
funny how the man behind her looks like Erik Satie
This is nice,
This is beautiful, but
she is a POEM.

i'm afraid government will not allow us to gather like this again
Too much theatrics
Solch ein "einfaches" Klavierstück so übertrieben dar zu stellen ist schon pervers. !
plays it too fast its supposed to be slower
It seems to me, Satie is too small for her. I cannot understand why she plays Satie, like a sea slug without bone and muscle.
Teppey , sorry you don't understand Erik Satie.
Teppey Yamada-Scriba ?????????????
