    on the first dent, I totally understand why you pulled the majority of the dent up and then knocked down the high spots that came up because of the stretching of the metal caused by the initial dent; you actually had to shrink the metal by knocking it back down as you pulled up the low spots. A guy named Karl Fisher over on Make It Kustom actually taught me a lot on stretching and shrinking metal. I never understood the process of removing dents until watching some of his videos on metal shaping.
    This is the most legitimate channel on dent removal I have seen! Great videos!

    very nice and professional work. I just wish that all bodywork repairment were at least 50% of this skill. They all use fillers like there's no tomorrow. I had an accident a few years back and all of my panels were filled with an exhorbitant amount of body filler. I was disgusted as the insurance paid for it and they used crap filler to "fix" it. And then I go and watch a real repairman fix an absolutely twisted fender which I thought was unfixable in 20 minutes (of course this guy was expensive to hire but absolutely worth his time)

    • @1st_track_dents
      @1st_track_dents  4 роки тому +2

      As long as you are using a very good window guard and the rod is not touching the glass it should never break. A metal felt backed one is what I use. However just be careful if the window is laminated (double glazed) as those windows are extremely fragile and can break very easily, they are normally found on high end vehicles like Range Rover, Bentley, some BMW's and Mercedes although they are on some other vehicles too. I check every glass first before going down the window:-)

    • @1st_track_dents
      @1st_track_dents  4 роки тому +1

      No, I just know how hot to get the panel, you only need gentle heat. If you was leaving an Infrared lamp against the panel for a period of time to dry paint , then it would be important to know how hot you are getting the panel as they get very hot. Regarding line boards, my preference is always a fog board as it is easier on the eyes, however I may incorporate 2 or 3 lines on my fog board to help with finishing dents:-)

      Hi, this is a job that does take quite a long time to learn so be prepared to have to put the hours in. Some people pick it up quicker than others. It does require very good eyesight and you do have to be very fit as you have to squeeze yourself into tight areas of the car for hours at times. I would say practice with an old panel in your garage first to see if you get a feel for it and don't fall into the trap of buying thousands of pounds/dollars worth of tools, when you only need a couple of basic tools to get started. Depending on your progress it could be a few years before you have the skills and confidence to open your own shop, but it could be sooner if you are a natural and pick it up quickly! I wish you all the best! 👍

    The question we all want to know is: Does Jake ever use the head of that hammer?

      Ha ha! I actually spent 17 years as a panel beater using the other end of the hammer, then when I started using this Paintless method I had to turn the hammer around the other way! It just feels comfortable to me and now it's become a habit:-)

      You would need to find a local dent repairer, who should be able to help:-)
