That’s one of her traveling bands. Kirk A. Johnson is the drummer brother. He’s played with Prince and many other great musicians. That sax/drum duel amazes me every time I see it and I’ve seen it many, many times. Dee was emotional, that was unexpected, that’s what great music does to you, young lady. Candy is one of the best. 🔥✌️
Candy is an amazing player. Been a fan for decades. She's drop dead gorgeous too!
Quite possibly THE BEST sax solo I’ve ever seen or heard!
she has an amazing duet with Maceo Parker called Addicted Love. the disc version is also live, so cant go wrong.
This
Was
Insane!!!
I have a couple of Candy's CD's and I knew she was incredible but I've never seen her live kill it like this. The entire band from that unbelievable trumpet solo to the drummer just killing it with Candy EATING....👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾.... I'm saving this.
This is from the Leverkusen 2009 concert. The whole gig is just phenomenal.
Candy is unsurpassed in her talent and ability as are all the members of her traveling bands
Dee, the phrase you're looking for regarding how musicians mesh together, is "gel"...
As a working musician myself, sometimes you can experience that amazing chemistry with the right combination of players, and everything "gels" together.
Fluid and flexible , yet solidly together...
I had the same reaction the first time I saw this particular performance by Candy Dulfer, it blew my socks off.
in fact, I was probably one of the people commenting, and suggesting this performance.
Cohesion is a good word for what was going down there. But I AM feeling the gel!
We used to say the band is TIGHT!
@axandio Yep - Tight. When you and the others slide through a difficult task so smooth, every mistake saved before it even happens.
Epic track .
That Sax/Drum breakdown rates ...along with that Redunkulus Trumpet segment .
Dee must be a jazz lover, never seen her so happily into the music. Great choice y'all.
Just so ya know a trumpet is nothin more than a large 'Kazoo!"....Ha,ha,ha
I'm a Trumpet player and I resemble that comment. Lol!
The girl singing with her is also a great Dutch singer named Leona Philipo.
Great cover!!! Candy’s fun. She’s from Holland.
That is Chance Howard on the keyboard! Just saw the band Average White Band a month ago, who are the original creators of this track in Chicago as a guest at Brian Culbertson Jazz getaway, they are still awesome after being 50 years somewhat in the business. Candy also toured with the late Prince. Yes that is her band, have been numerous times with Candy on a Jazz cruise, just recently in May.
Played this for a lot of ppl. Halfway thru the Sax jam folks are saying its fantastic, never heard anything like it. Mouths hanging open, stoping whatever and listening. But Candys only half done, she keeps kicking the bar to the ceiling, then kicks the ceiling aside.
Hmmm listen to them dulcet tones comin from them instruments...and very tight too! Thankyou guys
Candy Dulfer and Dave Stewart, Lily was Here.
Live version and studio version, slightly different from each other, but both great. I luv Candy!
👍👍👍 Parliament get the P Funk That concert was a long time ago. and they just killed it. The Elite of the Elite. so much kick ass power everyone gives the crowd, and the Crowd kicks it right back at you.
Leona Philippo won The Voice of Holland back in 2012.
You can tell she's been influenced by Prince for whom she played several years. Always amazing, miss Dulfer! LJ
If you enjoyed that u might like earth jam by bela fleck and the flecktones
I loved hearing that again and your reaction as well 🙂
Thank You for reacting to this.
This is one of my favorite concerts of all time, Candy and the band she put together for that tour was incredible and this was one hot, hot concert.
Check out Clean Up Woman from this concert.
Oh, I'm a Oct 3 person too. All the best people are, of course
The trumpet player looks like Christian Lindner, the German minister of finance. Poor guy!
Anybody else have a flashback to the episode of Martin about the talent show.
Happy birthday!
Phil Collins Big Band does this one with a few Sax players
5 of the best sax players anywhere + George Duke, the keyboard/singer from Frank Zappa. Pretty dope.
You should check out the original by Average White Band (AWB),Scottish band who wrote the song in 1974.
If you want to see her killing it doing 70's funk hits. The band is super tight. Look for it here on UA-cam Flashback Tour Paradiso 2000. One of the best videos on UA-cam!!!
An teaction on " Pick up the pieces, Ringo Starr and his all Starr Band with Edgar Winter" please. Thank you.
Candy is one of many musicians who refuse to be compartmentalized. Some all it Jazz/Rock fusion, I just call it music. You recently spent some time listening to Jeff Beck's fusion work. Truth is Blues/Jazz/Rock/Country all have common roots and all have roots in even older things. Music is constantly evolving - it's a part of it's DNA. Music can no more remain in a compartment than can water.
As a live performance this is up there with Dire Straits Alchemy Sultans of Swing!!!!!!!!!! Different sound, but great musicians!
This is here band live guitarist and bass player I've mainly been with hear from the start.
Good song is don't go
ahh - it's THAT song:)
can you do a reaction to High Priestess by Uriah Heep
Sax-A-Go-Go. Check it out.
jammin!
Check out Zappa Plays Zappa Eat That Question live. Sheila Gonzales sax solo.
Oh my she's lovelier
Pick up the "peaches"...
It is is candy duller , ban, and they do tores all around the world.
That's a pretty wifey I'll ask she's gorgeous oh man she didn't talk more
Here is "Lily Was Here" with Candy Dulfer & Dave Stewart.
ua-cam.com/video/86BmSaXZMHw/v-deo.html
With intermixed playing by younger Candy and Dave with more recent times.
Great live cover but you MUST check out Scottish funkmeisters Average White Band live, funky as all hell.
Do yourselves a huge favour and get groovin to the originals.
dat gal is funky!
Great playing by everyone but I'm sorry- that keyboard player was getting on my nerves when th all that "right hook, left hook" crap during Candy's solo...
Well... it's funky alright... and it swings really good... but... I started yawn. To be honest, this was just a way of making a song very long by adding one thing at the time... and when every one is playing, they just repeat forever...
Now that is shit hot. Wow
