    Good lord people. Bits and bridles are not bad when used in good hands, like his. He's a top rider who is giving a video to help people learn. Which some of you should!

    Great advice, great riders, great personalities, great video quality. This should be a TV show especially for equestrians. If only there was a channel on TV specifically for stuff like this.

    So contradictory to the way George Morris does it. I wish everyone would do it in a way that the horse is prepared mentally for this! Cootos to you :)

    So many of the comments are so negative. I just read one that said that he is a bad rider. He is an amazing rider and a wonderful trainer. Oh and someone said that Tex should not have a flash on because it could hurt him? When you have a flash on, you are supposed to still be able to fit 2 fingers in. Yah it might be uncomfortable if it is cranked down on his face, but for some horses, it is nessecary.

    His hands are so soft with the reins. My trainer is so harsh with his horse yes the horse is green but when I ride it he works well with me because I have soft hands even my horse is green and works well with my soft hands

    Last saturday, I was riding and suddenly it started storming and raining into the arena. So I did the exact same thing that you did in this video for the liverpool. Haha! Worked like a charm, she even turned her head to the rain and never acted out at that area! The other horses bolted the first time they came to the rain, and even after kept turning their butts to it.

    The whole "whip" thing, for my horse I have trained him so that he knows a light tap on the shoulder means "bad" without scaring him, but I would only do that if he ran out something silly :) Like a teeny cross pole, or yesterday he ran out a set of poles of the ground! heehee

    My problem is my horse is extremely afraid of any tarp (especially liver pools) and, more mildly, bags of any kind. I am lucky to get him a half ring's distance to a tarp/pool let alone near or over it.
    His previous owner told a story of leaving a tarp next to his stall overnight to try and show him it was okay. But when she came out the next morning he had hives and was basically having a horse panic attack. So I don't know what to do

    • @equiikay1323
      @equiikay1323 8 років тому +1

      Hi I know I am not quite them but I think I can help!
      first off get a plastic bag (small one preferably) and just let him? sniff it reward him every single time he even goes near it. make sure you reward him.
      once he is OK with that then rub it down his neck and down his back so he associates the plastic with a nice starch!
      then get a bigger peice and see if he walk on it; do the same as the small one . if at any point he gets scared start again.
      if he does step on it reward him *straight* away.
      rember patience is a virtue :)

      Hm. I’m not a grea trainer, but I do deal with horses like that. How young is he? If he’s under 8/10 it should bear easy to fix. Walk him close to it on foot, if he barks or won’t go near it, just retry. You can also let him sniff bags or put god (what? God? Food*) in a plastic bag and open the plastic bag and take good out so maybe he’ll associate that with food

    Is it just me or do his stirrups look way to short. Idk to me they look like they affect his position. I noticed his back isn't really all that straight. And his hands are kinda bouncy. Im not saying this in any way against this channel because they are way better of riders than i am. But just saying

    • @oliviamcgree1799
      @oliviamcgree1799 8 років тому +1

      That'd the point. They help keep ur heels down more. In jumping u usually put your stirrup holes up 1 or 2

    • @amberreindel6156
      @amberreindel6156 8 років тому

      +Olivia mcgree yeah i know. Im a jumper. But i just thought that his stirrups were too short. Like shorter than usual

    • @oliviamcgree1799

    My horse Seb approaches the jump so nicely and you feel your going to clear it, an then when he's about 30cm away and I'm going into 2 point he's stops and chucks me off, what should I do he bites if you hold his mane.

    • @StormChaserLaurenKelly
      @StormChaserLaurenKelly 10 років тому

      I'd use a lot more leg and what I do sometimes with my horse, is when you're going to the first jump, whack with the stick ONCE behind your leg so he knows you mean business. It won't hurt him. It'll just wake him up. Grab mane right at take off. When you feel his front legs leave the air, that's when you grab. Hope this helps!

    • @dreamingincolour7702
      @dreamingincolour7702 7 років тому

      Angelica Catlee show him the buckets. Desensitize him essentially. Lead him past the buckets slowly - you go closer to the bucket and keep walking him around, each lap around the buckets get further away from the bucket, let him notice the bucket is there and that it won't hurt him. Be calm, patient and gentle - if he jumps away keep trying! you're his friend and he sees you as a leader~ if you're scared he will be scared too. Good luck! :)
