I have had an incredible struggle with seeing the distance on a greener horse. I rode on a mare for years that tended to pick her spot and more often than not... Was perfect. Now I have a mare that has no clue, so it has been quite an "awakening" and I'm so glad you guys made this series!
These videos actually helped me so so much! I've been having problems with coming in awkwardly to jumps for like 2 years and now I can do it after watching these :) cant thank ye enough ♥
I believe that will be a very beneficial way to go about it. I revisited striding by using ground poles with a five stride difference and took myself out of the equation (since it was clear I was the one messing up the strides) and she got the distance more often than not. What you've suggested is beneficial and I will be sure to carry on with it :) Thank you for taking the time to respond with it!
I've always been so astounded by the over all quality of your training, your horses and your facility. So I was surprised that you guys were only an hour away from where I am. It would be a dream come true to train with you two one day but seeing what you guys train for, damn does it intimidate me. I think it's way out of my league. I obviously don't have a lot if confidence in my riding. I only hope one day I can get over my low self esteem and do what you two do :)
I always learned to give your rein when going over the jump because if u don't, it pulls the horses mouth. so giving them rein, rewards them for doing the jump ? Just they way I have learned.
Hello, thank you so much for your movie. It is very clear, i'm french but i understand what you tell. The 3 movies are very interested, i will try your exercices with my horse this week ! Good bye
Yet another great video! Oh my gosh, seeing the guru gallop in on the little haffie was HILARIOUS! "Dewey, make the fast run, go!" Hey, I bet a video on different stirrup lengths could be really interesting!
Shout out for Dead Broke Horse Farm in North Carolina please! They rescue horses, especially from slaughter, and retrain them as trekking horses, where they earn a bit of keep working through the summer, a really worthy course :)
I love these videos but to anyone who watches this video now, his stirrups are much too short, even for jumping. Not only does it tip the heel forward and cause you to pinch at the knee involuntarily, but riding with too short stirrups for a sustained period of time will slowly rip and tear the soft tissue in your hips and begin to cause them to permanently roll out.
he is a knowledgeable guy and good at what he does, and he's not as bad as he usually is in the video, but his shoulders are to far forward and he hunches his back, also he needs to sit in the saddle at the canter not post to it.
When is Evention coming back???
DUEY! MAKE THE FAST RUN, GO! Hahaha guru you crack me up, great video!
+Jessica Rose Best part is the jandals
