Sounds pretty good for $17. At this point when a youtuber who plays heavy genres of music says, "here's my clean channel", you can almost always expect it to not be clean. lol.
Yeah... This kind of bugs me. I like the most crystal clean channel possible to run any OD, fuzz or distortion into. It's the only way you're hearing what the pedal itself actually sounds like. Seems like I'm in the minority with this but hey, I also prefer solid state amps over tube ones so I guess I am crazy.
Clinton Maher that’s definitely true. I like solid state amps. The Randall and orange stuff specifically. I wouldn’t say I prefer them but there is something awesome about 2 solid state clean amps with stereo reverb and delay.
I love how with your channel you always stay so positive about the stuff you review. You don’t bad mouth it, you always find something uplifting to say about stuff. It’s a refreshing change. That & you jam The New Black a lot, so that buys you huge points too.
Harlon David We pay through the nose for it because Stevie Ray Vaughan played the 808 with the JRC4558 chip, whatever that means. So much of the things we love in guitar gear (and I’m JUST as guilty) is mythical.
@@erictoniaschwab1009 That's why alot of it is just snake oil from an electrical engineering standpoint. A couple of bucks of parts at best to torture the crap out of a few op-amps. That's what it costs most of these manufacturers.
I've been using it for a while in my rig (along with kokko's compressor)... And it's great to use it in a more bluesy context... The low drive settings are very nice sounding... It pushes my Joyo American Sound (preamp pedal) and gives warmth and a bite to the sound. My gig is essentially made with those chinese pedals that sound way better than expected... I'd suggest also the Analog Delay and the Spring Reverb of a brand called Mosky... and the American Sound, of course!
Cheapest strap. And by default teach the world to not skimp on a strap, when the strap fails and his $$$$ PRS goes down. Breaking the headstock in the process. Sorry I am imaginative.
I picked up one of those recently for about 20 bucks shipped - not bad, but I found the Joyo Vintage Overdrive to be a better pedal for around the same price
I have this pedal, works great in combination with my Ibanez. Combined in chain I use: Ammoon Looper -Koko FOD3 Overdrive-Ammoon Distortion-EmoEx Delay-Koko FCP2 Compressor...yes, I know the compressor & delay are swapped, but this works. All pedals were under $40/each. Great for exploring sounds without breaking the bank.
I got this very pedal on Amazon a while back, and I hate it. It has zero character and is (as you briefly mentioned) muddy. You can rescue the tone with EQ, but that defeats the purpose of buying a cheap pedal. I'd say, spend a few extra bucks and at least get the Behringer.
I own this pedal, it’s pretty good honestly for the price. It doesn’t push the signal too too much though. Good for boosting a low gain tone in my experience.
Bought one of these last year for $18 on eBay. Sounds fantastic into a punchy, cleanish tone on my Tech 21 trademark 60. No complaints from me, especially for the price.
Sounds like 80 percent of just another freakin overdrive pedals ... As Josh Scott demonstrated, you can take Behringer overdrive and make it sound exactly like vintage 808 Ibanaze tube screamer ...
In the Philippines young guitarists buy this alongside with other pedals from Kokko because of its cheap price. It's around Php. 1000+ so it's reasonable. I wanna own the compressor too but I think I might buy Mooer's Yellow Comp. Aside from Kokko, the other pedals that are common are the beforementioned Mooer(although it's much pricey), ammoon, Joyo and NUX. The other cheap but substandard pedals are Davis and that Danelectro plastic casing pedals series (didnt know what's that called). If you do another episode of cheap gears, maybe look for these brands!
5:38 wish "ultra premium" ha just don't order a Tazer from Wish they wont stop a bum rush!... but what will? a great cup of coco should stop a bum rush provided the correct no of mini marshmallows is included.
Guns and Guitars (one of my favorite channels on here) did a video on this pedal and a bunch of other cheap pedals as well, and for what you paid for, absolutely worth it
Just FYI you can get the Behringer OD from Amazon for $5 cheaper with free shipping and its pretty much a straight up clone of the TS 808 circuit. So if someone was wanting a cheap OD pedal? Just get the Behringer, there is also a ton of circuit mods you can find online for the Behringer pedals because they are so cheap they have become popular with the circuit benders.
Would be nice, if you could make comparison on cheapest overdrive pedals you have bought in ebay, amazon and wish. Which sounds best etc... But it is your UA-cam channel, your choice. I have bought Donner knock of tube screamer. Seems, like KOKO, DONNER and NUX are same thing, just different name on pedal.
Dude, I've been waiting for you to review this overdrive pedal. I got one a while back off of Amazon. I A-B'ed it next to my Maxon OD9 and it wasn't quite the same, but still close. I was really impressed with the pedal and it's still on my pedal board. I mostly use it as a boost in front of my Way Huge Swollen Pickle fuzz because I love the sound that I've dialed in with both pedals working together. I typically run it with the drive at 9 o'clock, level at 3 o'clock, and tone at 12 o'clock, though I'll roll it back some on my Strat.
I actually have this pedal on my board! I have a couple of Kokko pedals on my board. I use it a lot at church when I want a gritty clean. I sent a picture of the board a couple months to your rate or roast email.
This is barely being demoed! I've had this pedal for about two years now... I went on this big tube screamer binge buy... bought all kinds of different types.... had lots of fun with them... used the bad cat overdrive as a result for a few years..but went back to my tube screamer mini...
a few weeks ago you can buy those Kokko pedal set with Delay, Crunch Distortion and a Compressor for $40. these cheap pedals can be noisy overtime especially if you have a shit generic power adapter though they're good for the price tbh
Ive tried a whole bunch of the kokko stuff some time ago... don't be fooled by youtube vids mate, they're rubbish... and the built quality is even worse, several of the kokko pedals i bought died after several months, and don't even plan on using them for gigging haha

Hey fluff, sent you a message about this on Facebook, but you should try the cheapest pickups on reverb. Maybe Two separate videos, one for the single coils and the other for humbuckers. I think it would be cool haha! Love you brother!!
A word of honest advice.... I know these can be tempting, i get it, i really do, but please listen to this: As someone with experience, save your money... don't go buy the whole range of pedals... (they only get worse btw) you are much better off owning one good pedal than half a dozen shitty ones... think about it... if you want to experiment because you are new to pedals, try a multi effects or plug into the computer, get a good idea what you are working with, and then get what you want and get the right* thing... you will not regret it and be a lot happier, and better sounding!
Sounds like is pretty damn usable if you're on a budget or just thinking about using a little more than just the amp. Being that most players aren't gigging, it's would be ok for at home. It would also bring another way of finding your own sound, rather than always trying to copy someone else.
I got a Nux ch3 chorus from wish awhile back cause my girl was using wish a lot. It's actually a solid consistent chorus. It's not anything iconic sounding but it's a solid chorus tone with slightly more modulation than a boss chorus. It's certainly worth the money and an effect worthy of full time pedal board status if your on a budget, if course if your not id recommend the Mxr m234 analog chorus. Anyways for comparison the Nux is way better than the behringer ultra chorus pedal(yellow plastic) and at the same cost. The behringer is more versatile but it doesnt do anything particularly well. The Nux isn't super versatile but the tones it does do it does them well. And as far as best budget pedal I've ever bought and heard it's hand down the Donner Ultimate Comp pedal. I bought it cause I didn't know if I wanted a comp pedal and planned on buying a more expensive one if i liked it. After using it for a few days I decided id never take it off my board and would rather have it than a more expensive pedal. And unlike more expensive comp pedals it has a switch for normal comp and "treble" comp which is a brighter compression vs a warmer compression. Most comp pedals are known for being warm or bright but not both which is very limiting but the donner does them both so it works with all my guitars. It also has a level control and a tone control to further dial in the tone and of course a compression control. I highly recommend trying one, try it with a ts9 and you'll be in love. Just remember humbuckers naturally compress more so adding compression to them CAN STILL SOUND GREAT but you'll need to keep the comp control lower than with single coils. The normal and treble settings sound great with either singles or humbuckers it's just a matter of what your after for the specific tone your working with.
They do really. They just have their amps so sound it has a natural "saturation" to them. That's why they sound so different live, because the amps are producing the same affect, but live. They really don't use that much gain, just a natural Marshall classic signal break.
Davey Rock very true. Malcolm in particular had quite a clean tone. It was the 5 members together that made the band sound more crushing than any of the competition.
Would it make sense to get a evh 5150 overdrive to run as a preamp (in the fx return) and still use the precision drive on an amp? The amp I would slave would be my joyo zombie. Or just buy the hd metal pack for my hd500x? I currently just run the precision drive in front of the zombie and it's pretty sweet but could be a little better. I'm using an 8, 9 string guitars and it's not as muddy as you might think.
