There's a difference but not 80 bucks worth of difference
I couldn't tell any difference between them but again I'm just listening on my phone I have the ts9 and 808 they are very similar to each other but for 20bucks that's a clear winner
MacBook Pro with Senheisser headphones... and I can confirm there's virtually no difference. My ears even prefer Kokko. Or does it my wallet?
Honestly Ibanez has got more presence to it , I mean it is a little more clear to my ears. Kokko sounds also great , and surprisingly impressed me !
The reason that people love classic Ibanez tubescreamers are because some of the most influential rock and metal songs have been recorded by them . But if you are on a budget as you said , Kokko and similar products are definitely bang for the buck .
You should treat your snobbery......
no thanks ibanez! hello kokko!! :D
They sound the same. Thanks for the comparison demo! You just saved me some cash.
The Ibanez TS9 has a bit more definition and “chunk” but on a budget for $19/20 the Kokko is a winner!
This is one of the best overdrive shoot-outs I've ever seen. Kokko really knocks me out of the park by having the ability to match the tone quality of the legendary Tube Screamer. Thanks for the vid. I just subscribed! ⭐🤘🍺
The Kokko sounds great!
I think my next over drive pedal is going to be made by Kokko.. plus the Kokko will take up very little room...Thanks for taking the time to doing this cool video.
Craig
Thanks Craig!
i have the kokko on my board, usually keep the gai at around 3oclock as i have it stacked next to my blackstar LT dual. the kokko is amazingly good, and i dont mean good for a cheap pedal, it's just good..
damn good.
+1
have the same pedals bro.. Lt dual stacked with some kind of tubescreamer is really something
I got the KOKKO when it came out. I think I only spent $17. I thought it was great. But then I heard that these other pedals were better, so I bought them after selling the Kokko. What a mistake. Thanks for this. I'm ordering another! - Chris
Happy to help!
I just picked one of these up recently. Needed pedals for a synth/sampler setup and nowadays the Chinese are spitting out clones of the old school circuits for almost nothin. Hard to resist...
Its crazy how cheap you can get most pedals these days.
@@jaketanis3069 Yea some of the Chinese mini pedals are a crazy good deal. The Kokko Comp is supposedly just a DynaComp with a different chip inside according to folks who have taken them apart. The Kokko Overdrive aint much different then a TS9... Combine the 2 and u are on your way to getting good classic rock and blues type sounds. For 40 bucks...
@@GearHedd love the compressor!
I have a kokko over drive but now it's pretty clear Ibanez one is sounding much brilliant to my ears....
I used to have a TS9 and a Boss SD1, and I was very happy with them.
But I bought the Kokko, just because it was cheap and I was curious. I wanted to try it.
Now, I don’t have the TS9 nor the SD1 anymore. I sold them both.
Kokko rules my pedalboard.
Thanks man! Appreciate the video and the time it took to put it together....
Thanks for this. I have the TS9, but I'm considering this for a mini Pedalboard I am assembling for my daughter, who is learning how to play.
Kokko sounds a hair darker, no? Seemingly something that can be changed with a tiny Tone adjustment. You may have just sold me on the Kokko, and i'm not even a TS9 kinda guy. Do they do a TS808?
I think the Joyo JF01 Vintage Overdrive is a TS808 clone but it usually costs double the Kokko FOD3 Overdrive.
All about siustain.the ts9 is just bolder and more yummy. I have both btw,lol using the kokko on my mini board.
Today I am going to buy koko FOD3.
Cool!
@@jaketanis3069 I bought it.
I have a kokko overdrive.. my pedal have a big noise sound (for.me is too big noise sound) when it stacked to/boost any drive pedal when the gain knob is over 9 o'clock. It is normal?
Yup! Investing in a noise gate will help cure the problem.
I should Kokko 😅
Thanks
kokko比想象中好太多了
Its practically a complete carbon copy...
20 $....sounds fine...!!
But I am willing to pay hundreds of dollars more for a popular brand so the other guitarist doesn't make fun of me. lol
This lol
The Ibanez and Maxon screamers are classics and are worth the money. Budget-conscious or not, the Kokko Overdrive is great. I have two, and they stack beautifully.
Thank you for the review man, really helped me out. Got one for just 10 bucks. ✌️
Awesome! This pedal goes great with any rig!
Where from?
Wow… Pretty dang close for $19. The OG def had a tad more “umph” but all considering I’m impressed.
Very nice review, man. I could hear a little bit more harmonics on TS-9, but I don't think it's a big deal with the whole band playing together.
Totally agree!
I bought the Kokko pedal after watching this video. It really is a great pedal, can't fault it
The kokko is definitely slightly darker and less open-sounding, but it's not at all bad. For $20 it's a great deal. I have a kokko btw, it's not my main OD but I use it in band practice & it sounds fine. Imo it's definitely better than the Joyo vintage od, another cheap TS clone that a lot of people seem to like.
There’s a slight difference but it’s not huge. Anyway, od pedals are so plentiful, none sound “ideal,” just different. Either works, IMO.
I have a cheap practice amp so the Ibanez probably even won't sound better than the kokko
Damn , they sound the same.....hello Kokko good bye Ibanez go to hell with your prices......
kokko overdrive is it direct to 220v with 9v adaptor???
I used kokko & jack hammer on my pedalboard
I had an Ibanez TS9 and a Boss SD1 on my pedalboard. I alternated these two overdrives according to the themes. But I got the Kokko to test and was impressed. The difference between the TS9 is minimal. So I couldn't stick with three overdrives and had to sacrifice the TS9. I sold it. Now I have the Boss SD1 and the Kokko on my pedalboard.
I wanna use the Kokko for a little boost or for solos infront of the ds1, good idea?
Thanks man, sounds great!
Just ordered a Kokko and subscribed :) peace!
Why nobody talks about Positive grids Bias FX 2 , or Mooer Ge -Labs and his IR …on a iPad Pro … they are Much More Better than any Modeler !!
Ibanez is more define than the Kokko. But hell if you are on a budget the Kokko would do just fine. Not a world of difference really unless you are that finicky.
Exactly!
Im listening on headphones so not the best reference but i can hear a little more top end resonance from the ibanez and i definately prefer it. Koko still sounds really good tho.
Cant beat it for 1/4 the price!
@@jaketanis3069 Not to get technical, but it's 1/5 the price.
Kokko blows the TS9.... out the water.
its a great pedal!
The ibañez its a bit better, but too much expensive
Ibanez - 10 out of 10
Kokko - 9,5 out of 10. Great job.
I have this pedal, I like it. Be cool if it had a 4th knob for bass, to warm it up a bit more. It is a great little bang for your buck though.
I'll give the Ibanez 10 to 15 years the Kokko about 2.
nah kokko is for beginners
I would say the review should be with koko with more volume, then they will compare even closer
Great pedal it's actually one of my favorite overdrive's. Great video 👍👍👍
Thank you!
That 19 bucks sounds cool!!!
Kokko Overdrive is very good.
It probably has the exact same circuit inside, they just cheaped out on the coupling caps.
The only reason why people want the Ibanez is cause it's iconic.
Had the same logic and got a DS-1 and it was absolutely just..... OK
Tnx sir😎🤘
I have the koko I run it with a blues driver OMG!
Very cool 😎
Paid 30$ for mine on Amazon (Canada). This is an excellent overdrive "green" circuit and sounds as good as my Ibanez TS9. I just bought it 'cause it's so cheap and I needed to add to my checkout bin in order to get a break on shipping. If you get over where they were made get one. Buy 'em while they last.
I say why not! A great backup for 20 bucks? Thank you sir, may I have another?!
a nice pedal for a beginner to start with
I was planning on buying a mini tube screamer to save real state on my board, buy I honestly hate those crappy mini knobs that you can't see where they're at when standing up… after this review, i'm going for the Kokko that has knobs that look better and stronger.
Mine doesn't sound like this 😭😭
My gear:
Fernandes FR55
Kokko OD
Princeton PS70TR (vintage amp 😅)
😭😭😭
I just got done leaving feedback on another demo saying that it would be worth paying the extra 50 bucks to get the real thing. Now, I'm afraid I was mistaken. 🤷🏼♂️🤔
OD-3 + KOKKO=👍🫠
Ibanez still wins but kokko is pretty decent for the price range, it's crazy its a nice addition to the pedal collection
Close sounds.. KOKo win affordable price..
¡¡¡Made in China!!!
Win \○/
Bruce lee win!!
Jackie chan WIN
i have bought one. Does this work also to a non-amp speaker like a karaoke?
volume tooooo low cant hear a tging man.
Kokko overdrive se mostrou muito bom, o Ibanez é clássico.
kokko has less sustain than the ibanez? that ibanez is worth a 5pedal kokkos and that's a complete pedalboard already
แยกไม่ออกเลย
Jake, you expertly pulled off a great comparison.
It's 2021, and the Kokko Overdrive is now $25.
I'm not a hundred dollar player so I'm goin' Kokko.
Is Kokko gonna last for 2 or 3 years?
Sure
Obvious mids missing from the kokko. Not bad for the price and you can't hear the difference in some frequency ranges. It would be ok for lead but its not as good for rhythm as the original.
Watched this video again 5 months later and I agree with my analysis. The tube screamer has more mids. The kokko is noticeably more treble heavy but whether that is good or bad comes down to personal preference.
Both times I listened with headphones when judging the differences which is essential unless you have decent speakers.
Ibz is better
of course it is , but not 80 bucks better
