      No offense, but you clearly have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. Anybody with developed ears can tell the difference between shitty single coil pickups and high quality humbuckers.
      The amp has a lot to do with it, but you shouldn't forget that the pickups are responsible for even picking up the vibrations and *they* also have a lot to do with it. Wood and shit like that doesn't matter at all on electrics aside from aesthetic and ergonomics.

      Get the guitar, upgrade the pups first and compare the sound to your more expensive guitar
      Then upgrade the hardware, and youll see that hardware upgrade just makes for better tuning stability and playability, rather than tone changes
      Then get a squier and do the same
      Compare the 2
      I bet youll end up getting a custom neck and body from warmoth, put your prefered electronics and hardware, and youll have your own custom guitar thats taylored to your liking
      If i liked strat or tele bodies, warmoth would be my choice to make my dream custom guitar........and all for a fraction of the price of an expensive fender or the overly priced suhr and tom anderson..........
      Learn about the volume and tone pots so you can get the ones that will match what you want out of your pickups, plus with learning about the volume pots, youll find that some really clean up the gain by backing off and some are excellent for volume swells, if thats your thing

    Not bad at all. I used to like buying cheap second hand guitars then upgrading them (easy for me to say, my grandad builds them too). My favourite is a £40 Westfield that I picked up. Now it's got a steel nut, skull machine heads, scalloped frets (12th down), upgraded electrics, bumble bee capacitor, a yjm single coil, custom single coil and custom humbucker. Custom artwork (borderlands 2 inspired) painted by an artist friend on the pick guard and revolver cylinder style knobs. To me it is priceless 🙂

    I actually bought this same guitar from wish (using a promo code I actually got it for $30). I did a set up on it and put a hot rail in the bridge position. It plays great! After a set up it stays in tune very well. By the way, I got the hot rail on Wish too.... $5!!! Looking to buy another one again.

    I learned on a cheap 40 dollar acoustic guitar, the wood on the body was thin as hell and the frets were unpolished, sharp, and stuck to my hand when I tried to slide or bend. The strings were high and caused me great pain. It was never in tune. Looking back I’m glad I got that guitar. It allowed me to build strength, tolerance, how to look for the rights and wrongs, and right from the get go I had smoothed over calluses. In the end, rubber finger molds and guitar gadgets will not spare u pain, they will only prolong it.

    I always wanted to try something. Buy cheap strat on wish like you did. Look up gold guitar hardware. You can get gold trem bridge with locking nut and all hardware for less than 20 bucks. Same with gold locking tuners. They have a gold plated prewired pickguard with gold knobs for $31. You can buy a cheap strat on wish and upgrade ALL hardware to gold for incredibly cheap. Then I want to work on the neck and make the fretwork high quality and the neck finish can be improved. You can even sand off the logo and buy something you want to screw onto the head to act as a logo like a band logo or something. You will have the pickups that came with the guitar and the gold pickguard to test and see what is best. In the end you can just buy a nice pickup set to complete the frankenstrat and make it something really special.

      @Psyfonify 5 років тому

      90's beginner gear was shit, so the vids are never any suprises and hard to watch the whole thing but i can imagine if someone had a nostalgic connection to whatever he is making a vid about, that itd be a completely different story
      Maybe too many people are already doing this, maybe not, but highlighting cheap pedals from any era including today could be neat since there are actually good sounding things like the behringer pedals donner pedals etc, could compare them to other tones he gets out of his existing gear, to changing knobs around on everything to make one of these cheap pedals sound similarish and compare the tones

    Heres an idea, set a limit of no more than the price of the guitar for new hardware/pickups/pickguard from amazon so that you can also demo that, a setup, and then itll also show if a cheap guitar with upgrades is studio/live quality and how much it is compared to say a 400-600+ dollar guitar. Basically 100 dollar super strat vs 500 dollar superstrat or something.
