- Anh and Minh moved to the Philippines with their Filipino husbands after the Vietnam War. As cooks, they met Jun who helped displaced Vietnamese. These old friends have since become best friends - and their friendship has withstood both distance and time.

The first time I was in Vietnam, I was at a lost. The language barrier was fierce. I couldn't even properly compute their money. Being a Filipino, I was so used to the Philippine Pesos. But most of the people that I encountered in Vietnam were very kind to me. They knew instantly, just by listening to my voice, and my accent that I am a Filipino, and they would ask, "you Filipino?" And I'd say, "yes." They will always answer with, I love Filipinos. You helped us before. We help you now. We are friends!" Despite the barriers, our hearts are connected through history. I'm looking forward to the day I'd go back and visit Vietnam again.
who doesn't love filipinos? I have visited the philippines 6 times for a total of 13 months. 1st, for the loving and welcoming culture (the people), 2nd for the geography, then so on.

I love the fact that both women call him kuya (elder brother) when in fact they are older by more than ten years. The bond between these people transcends barriers. Nakakainggit!
In Vietnamese culture, middle-aged or more people who are not blood-related would call each other "anh" (elder brother) or "chị" (elder sister) to express respect to each other, regardless of their real age. In my observation, people usually practice that after having their (first) child married. FYI.

In my home state of Sarawak in Malaysia, kuya means "says he or says her or says them. Bla bla bla, says he
A very respectful culture of Filipinos. To call you Kuya or Ate regardless of age but a sign of respect
In america Kuya is just brother. It usually used by Filipinos or non-Filipinos who are in the click.
I had stayed in Philippines for 6+ months, and I heard from many Vietnamese relatives and friends with many good stories about the people of Philippines; they are honest, hardworking and friendly people. There is always a place in my heart, Philippines.

During the us-vietnam war, Vietnamese seek refuge in Philippines, and they are welcomed unlike other countries, same thing with the jews, Filipino loved to help no matter who you are

Australia welcomed the Vietnamese Boat people.... You can see them at the Heart of Sydney and Neighboring towns.... They are all doing good in their living most of them has Business like Restaurants, merchandise stores, Bakeries....and works in the Office etcetcetc....

really? for whatever reason i hope all of them life good life in Philippines. maybe the first boat people (can't speak locals or english, mostly) but i know their kids (since the kid was so youngful when they're arrived in Philippines & some of them even born in Philippines) they're second generation in Philippines. They're maybe have Viet blood, but since they're born & raise for rest of their life in Philippines so Philippines is their country in the heartbeat, it happen to anyone when you're born & raise in the country ❤️

i was read on paper news in Vietnam before (but forget the links) they're was boatfishing & working as labor in chinese company then the chinese bought them to Philippines but somehow after years they're left and stuck at the Philippines, th company for some reason (broken or somewhat) did not pay them and leaves. So these people been living in Philippines over 100year
Now it been 4,5 generation Vietnamese in Philippines, fews of them is married to locals people and mostly their kids now is mix.
i forget exactly the story but it like something like that. I still wonder how these people? and where they're living in Philippines.

There are vietnamese communities in palawan and bataan, and some of them attain filipino citizenship because they were refugees.
In Manila, there are many vietnamese who works on business outsource processing and call centers

After the Vietnam War and their unification.. The first country the leader of Vietnam visited was the Philippines, as a gratitude for our Nation for not sending combatant soldiers to fight them and join the US forces in the Vietnam War even we (The Philippines), are the US close ally (unlike in the Korean War whom Filipino soldiers fought side by side with the South Korean and American soldiers, against the North Korean and Chinese soldiers).
In the Vietnam War, our late President Ferdinand E. Marcos DENIED the US Congress of their request to join them in combat and instead sent non combatant soldiers (PHILCAG) only to repair bridges, schools etc. and for humanitarian services. And for that reason and decision the friendships will forever be written in our (Vietnam - Philippines) History. 🙂🇻🇳❤️🇵🇭

These people mommy mihn and mommy ahn are one of many vietnamise i meet in palawan i lived in their community "vietnamise village palawan" at the staff house were my sister and brother are working that time. Vietnamise people are very friendly, i love their culture and specially their foods it more of vigges and noodles!😁 Mommy mihn and mommy ahn hope you still remember me. This is a great memory. I used to live in Palawan and met a lot of Pilipinos people. They were truly kindness, helpful and honesty. Even I live the United State now whenever I approach or see Pilipinos i always look at them with respectful and thanks every thing you did to ours Vietmanese Boat People and You are the great ones.

When I worked in Frankfurt Germany, I used to eat vietnamese food in a vietnamese restaurant. I missed that foods now that I'm back in the Philippines. God bless these Vietnamese women.

I am a Filipino living in Vietnam for 2 1/2 years now. Vietnamese people are so kind, accomodating and helpful. They always have a smile on their face just like us filipinos. They too are hard working and you can find women working in house/ building construction even in roads construction. I praise how these people work so hard. I am amazed that I see no beggars roaming here in Ho Chi Mihn, instead they sell sweepstake tickets for livelihood. The hardest thing I find here is the language barrier, their language is too hard to learn.
This is one of the best videos Ive watched in recent years! I also had a chance dining at their restaurant... the food was good and simple (as Vietnamese cuisine is about fresh and healthy food). Then I ordered a Bahn Mi to go... eating it at the hotel was one of the best memories of Palawan for me! I still want to go back... I hope to meet with three the next time.
If any of you gets to visit Puerto Princesa in Palawan, do visit the former Vietnamese Refugee Center’s restaurant... patronising their food is supporting them thru their livelihood. Its also located in this lush forested area by the beach.... It gives you this lovely feeling if being in nature! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I remember my Vietnamese school mates in Manila - they are kind and simple people - they are really vegetarian and they are slim - one day one Vietnamese told me - you Filipinos are meat eaters - She came and cooked shabu shabu for my board mate who is from Myanmar. In 1990's many refugees came to the Phil and they are hard working, they engage in "buy and sell" so they go from school to school or from office to office. But sometimes their experienced are not good because one related that his place was ransacked. This video is an eye opener for us and it impels us to respect one another and love one another regardless of culture, race, religion and others. May God bless us all.

I can feel your sentiments about the Chinese who ruled you for how many years. My Myanmar board mate told me that since we have also Chinese with us. I went to Korea last May. when my sisters and I were falling in line to go up Namsam Tower, a man was looking at us as if he was about to say something or as if we are familiar. I told my sister, maybe that guy is from Phil or he thought that we are from his country. when we were up and was seated, he approached us and we entertained him, he told us that he is from Vietnam and he was with his family. he left them in order to talk to us. I was able to talk to him slowly and for him also to understand me because of his limited English but I was able to grasped his words and I understood that his son who is a US Army and came home for vacation and treated them to Korea. He is very jolly and he even invited us to Vietnam to visit too. I am very much associated with Vietnamese people because the first Movie I watched during my college days was about Vietnam war example Green Beret and others and because of the refugees whom I encountered I even buy shoes from them. Turtle is delicious I tasted the big one when I went to the Pacific Island in Chuuk, Micronesia. We Filipinos can also eat the food you mentioned but not in a regular meal those who like only but not cat.

I had a chance to visit Viet Ville Restaurant in Palawan last year and the food were so delicious. Two years ago, I went on a leisure travel to Vietnam (Ho Chi Min and Ha Long Bay) and I find the Vietnamese people so friendly. I would love to go back in Vietnam again soon.

after 3 years i am still crying and joyful watching this .... ive worked with vietnamese in the PRPC Camp in Bataan for more than 5 YEARS and my life has never been the same again. I miss my vietnamese students and i still have some connection with them thru FB . Sayang i wasnt able to visit the Restaurant when i went to Palawan sime years ago

I’m literally crying while watching the whole video. It’s so heartwarming to hear and watch this story. Humans are indeed naturally good. No matter what race we are, I just hope that in the generations to come, may we be able to pass this kind of values and mindset. May we extend help without any conditions and without expecting any returns. May we all truly treat each other as brothers and sisters. I cry watching this video. I am a Filipino yes I love Vietnamese people I meet a Vietnamese in Cebu he so nice and I fall inlove with him but I'm hiding my feelings to him because he is my friend. I care about him. Vietnamese people are so cute and friendly.
When I visited Palawan in 2019, there were quite a number of Vietnamese restaurants. Then, I learned that during the war, Philippines served as refuge to some of displaced Vietnamese. I hope that this kind friendship among ASEAN nations continue and may we continue to help each other. 🇵🇭❤🇻🇳
