The Philippines not only saved and welcomed Jews, but also rescued Vietnamese fleeing the Vietnam War and White Russians escaping persecution during the rise of communism in Russia. In addition, the country provided refuge to Spanish Republicans fleeing the Nationalist Government, Chinese escaping mainland China, Iranian refugees, Indo-Chinese neighbors, and East Timorese. It is important to include these stories in our nation's history and educate them to future generations.
Please add to it the support of the Philippine soldiers sent to Korean war in the 1950's despite our country has not been fully recovered from the ruins of war in WW2. To help the South Korean nation from the communist attack from the North Korea and Chinese.
Calling attention of our government this kinds of Documentaries should be shown in schools as part of our history and to help make the Filipinos more proud of our race. It should be part of the history of our Philippines in textbooks aside from only Magellan, etc.. It explains that our helpful nature is in our DNA. Filipinos should be made aware because of this we do not need a visa to enter the country of Israel.

The Philippine people are very faithful , endearing and loving to all people. So grateful they opened their home and protected the Jewish refugees. My sister died in the Philippines. I hope Israeli Jews see this documentary and learn how to treat the Arab refugees . .

My parents were young teens during the terms of Pres. Quezon. My late mother always praise him as the best president in their time. Prior to WW II Philippines is the meeting of the east and the west. We already have foreigners living side by side with our families. Our ancestors have an open minded besides our Christian faith.
During covid time I took care of a man from Cambodia. He was a top general and managed to escape the Pol put regime to the Philippines as refugees. He also migrated to USA via UN in the 70's and 80's. We both watching on TV the war in Ukraine 🇺🇦. It broke my heart hearing his story and me thinking of my own kid on his way to the borders of Ukraine. If only our ancestors are alive today they will all tell us that No one win in this nasty Wars. Praying for Israel, the innocent civilians of the Palestine and those that are suffering from all kinds of persecutions and Racial/religious discrimination. May we all live and keep the Humanitarian examples that our ancestors layed before us.

Because by then -- and this comment is not made to diminish the plight of the "Boat People," but by then, refugees had become a rather ordinary event. It wasn't any longer a very unique thing. And, of course, the Boat People have also all dispersed.

My grandfather was working for the Russian community as a translator he spoke Russian, my grandfather was a Filipino college professor he studied in Paris and teached in U.P college during President Diosdado Quirino presidency . Hes was awarded the medal of Freedom in 1960 .

I'm originally from the USA and moved to the Philippines in 2010. I often find the Filipino people to be friendlier, nicer, kinder, and generally better than my own kind. Found my sweet asawa here. Philippines is HOME for me now.

As a thank you, Israel is one of the few countries in the world that offer the Philippines a visa waiver, unlike countries like Japan who bombed the Philippines and killed many Filipinos during the war but never once offered free visa waiver for Filipinos travelling to Japan after the war. Same with Spain who colonized the Philippines. The sad thing is the Philippines in return have visa waivers for these countries.
