i liked donflomingo's father(especially being voiced by eggman in the dub.:3) as it was nice seeing a good world noble as he did have good intentions(compared to doflamingo who was an attempt to be sympathetic like big mom only to feel as evil from birth as dio/showed the sadistic heart of a world noble that he had it coming being kicked out.) and with the below world attacking him it'd likely happen to any world noble if the admiral threat was lifted.

The shocking thing that Sabo saw wasn't Imu on the throne, it was Shanks acting as a Holy Knight and killing Cobra. Remember, right after Shanks meets with the 5 Elders, Imu looks at Vivi's photo with interest right before being asked "The light that needs to be extinguished from history... Have you decided who it should be yet? If you have... Please tell us their name!!" (908). The light to "extinguish" is the Alabasta kingdom, a shining example of a thriving kingdom where the people love their royalty--the complete opposite of the celestial dragons. We also know the 5 Elders have some general distaste for the Nefatari because they refer to them as "traitors" (908). The 5 Elders also hope that Cobra "doesn't make things complicated" (908). So, we know there is some type of conflict between them, and the Elders might have what they deem to be reasonable cause to have him assassinated. Shanks met with the 5 Elders to talk about "a pirate," and "Given [his] standing...[he] should have nothing to do with politics" (907). We know that Shanks was found at God Valley, but he doesn't resemble any of the Celestial Dragons. The reference to "his standing" may imply that there is something more to him than being a Yonkou. When Croba meets with the 5 Elders, he sends Chaka and Pell away claiming that "it would be tedious" for them to "wait outside" even though the meeting "won't take long." Sending his bodyguards away because waiting outside for a short time is tedious just doesn't make sense. Croba probably did figure something out, confronted the 5 Elders, and then the 5 Elders has the closest Holy Knight assassinate Croba--but they can't take the blame, so they pass it off to Sabo who happened to be in the right place at the wrong time. Shanks killed Cobra!

Doffy's father was clearly a good guy, but he was also naive. If he'd just taken time to consider that revealing who they really were might not be the best idea, a lot of the tragedies that played out probably wouldn't have happened

But really, he just made Doffy hate him faster. Even if Homing had gone about their integration into regular society much smarter and much more successfully Doffy would have still ended up hating him for it because he was no longer on top.
I really liked dofdads terrible decision making. Like yeah, he's definitely a good, nice guy but so are all the intentions on the road to hell. His decision was still rooted in the same kind of self-centered, short sighted petulance that all celestial dragons are known for. Dude just assumed he was entitled to the populace accepting him in to their world but still chose to live in a mansion with servants until his whole family paid the price. It really drives home how valuable and important to societies growth selfless people like the straw hats are.

I imagine Bonnie being on egghead is going to be Oda's way of telling the straw hats everything that happened at the Reverie, the same way Sabo is telling the Revolutionaries

Thats a good point. While I'm sure the manga will never go into any amount of detail, with how evil the world nobles are, I just can't imagine they have never gotten...frisky with a slave. But these slave kids wouldn't be on the same level probably, but still somewhat considered better than commoners because of the noble blood in them. So giving them a high position, but still one in service to the nobles, somewhat make sense.

Charlos has at least 13 wives pre time skip with most of not all being random women in the grand line they kidnap and forced to marry him. And we say him random divorce wives 1-5 at that time sent them back to live with "common" people. Odds are they would have a few kids with him, want happens to the kids
Everyone thinks this figure is an evil twin, but Shanks said he has his own plans for this generation. What if he has a twin that’s overthrowing the WG from the inside and Shanks is holding down the Pirate side of the world? Just a thought and it would make sense
Something to consider about the idea of tell don't show, is that in a long running battle manga power inflation is a real issue as each battle a character is involved in tends to show some new ability. By only telling readers of a fight or showing only a tiny glimpse, the characters involved can always remain thought of as a high tier battle without ever attaching it to a specific power level and without needing to employ narrative devices like "X was holding back out of ego". If Oda ever showed all of the high level fights he alludes to, he would in effect be imposing a creative limitation on just what he could show for all other characters in the future.

I think it makes a lot of sense that Shanks and Mihawk are holy knight heirs. One who was separated from their family at god valley and another who abdicated their responsibility to study the blade amongst the worlds strongest fighters. Brought to rivalry due to their similar pedigree. Mihawk may i also note has the sort of disconnected disposition of a world noble (zoro claims he lacks humanity) and manner of dress similar to Spanish influenced nobility like many world noble family names.
In regards to homing, I think it is his fault that Doffy ended up like that, not because he was a bad person (probably one of the kindest out of all of the celestial dragons) but because of his gross negligence and naïveté leading to his family getting brutally tortured and his wife die from anime mothers disease. Honestly if Rosinante didn't go down to live in the common realm, I could see him turning out to be very similar to Homing, while Doffy would still somewhat end up like St. Charlos or the other celestial dragons (in the way that he would have a lot of slaves and probably be cruel to them) but would not be so far gone as he is now
I love how Doffy reacts to his father in the flashback. Everytime Homming tries to appeal to people's empathy, or in Mingos' eyes "kowtow", he is annoyed and pissed off. The straw that broke the camel's back was him not Homming not getting angry and still begging as they're being crucified, there Doffy is fed up with hid naivety and, I theorize, awakens his conquerors. The extra straw that absolutely destroyed the camel was him STILL apologizing to his children which are "beneath" him, and gets shot for it. It's a harrowing story about a naive and overly kindhearted man fathering a malicious type of alpha, it just can't be sustained. I love how with all the goofiness and romance of OP, Oda gives us very real and poignant relationships which reflect real life.
This may be a long shot but the Knights, make me think that Brook may be associated with them. He was protecting royal convoys before becoming a pirate.
I have a theory which the nine knights are a parallel to the 9 red scabberds, and that shanks is one of them but is the kunjro of the group. They both have red hair (i know it dosent sound like much but its very fitting of oda) and the both gave up there arm in away to better the cause that they really stand behind. Its very like oda to have this very "two sides of the same coin" kind of foreshadowing.
I think it's quite funny, because in certain ways Oda is a master at Show don't Tell. Especially when it comes to showing what characters do. He's never going to have Zoro say directly to the reader's face "I'm too afraid that I'm not going to be strong enough" Or he's never going to have Luffy talk about how he's good at telling how people really feel about something. I think it just comes down to the fact that Oda is really good at characterization and showing that through subtle ways, but maybe not in other cases Edit: wrote the comment before the question of the day; I think he was just a foolish man. Clearly good intentions and a man with a conscience, but very very foolish.
Donquixote Homing was stupid but his heart was in the right place. That being said, not saying he deserved his fate, just saying a little more education wouldve really helped him 😭
Homing is the definition of the path to hell is paved with good intentions. He was honestly one of the best parents we may have seen in the series as far as truly caring and providing for his family. He was just blinded by the ignorance that came from being raised and living his whole life as a celestial dragon.
What I find interesting about when the Figarland Family name was mentioned...was that the Elders only mentioned it due to the world learning that Uta was Shanks' Daughter, it wasn't said about Shanks, it was addressing somebody possibly related to them they didn't straight up say Shanks was Figarland Shanks, but rather said Uta was Figarland Uta and by extension the fans figured out that meant Shanks was a Figarland
Not fully watched video yet, but Figarland seems to mean 'of the Land of Figs' and the land of figs and Olives is another word for Jerusalem which is where the Knights Templar were originally based. And the Holy Knights Templar were originally numbered as 9 members. I think the Figarland Family is absolutely connected to the Holy Knights, they might all be Figarlands. I dont know yet if it is Shanks or if it is His Brother or dad. But I wouldnt be suprised if Oda had the name as a clue.

At this point, Luffy is on a pretty clear trajectory to confront the celestial dragons in some way, be that direct or indirect (as this final saga has a lot of competing factions, its too early to know where that'll shake out). Did Sabo see Shanks at the Reverie? What could be interesting in a tragic way, is if Sabo somehow has to be the one to deliver the information to Luffy that Shanks isn't the role model he's built his life around. Does he take Sabo at his word? Does Luffy defend his perception of Shanks' honor? Does the revelation set the stage for a serious "who are you?" conversation between Red Hair and Straw Hat?
Shank's being a twin might overly complicate his story too much. Tbh I think it'd just be better if he himself was the holy night. I do feel that kaido's lack of back story I think means he'll be explored much later, possibly with a sort of redemption arc

In chapter 1062 Bonney mentions that she met Sabo in marijoa and probably helped him in freeing kuma. I think she learned from Sabo that to deactivate his programing that she needed to go to Vegapunk.
Interesting but my thoughts on that are 1, She knows Vegapunks was involved without sabo saying so, and 2, she remembers she could tell Luffy about meeting sabo there in a way that I don’t think she would’ve if he was the whole reason she was there
If I’m remembering correctly, Cobra said he wanted to speak with the Gorosei about the Poneglyphs. And that’s when it became apparent that he was actually gonna die.
Maybe that time in the anime where Ace met Shanks, he actually met his twin brother who also happened to have crewmates who are twins of his entire crew. That would explain why he had 2 arms
I have always believed that that any characters introduced in the series as a silhouette were done this way because the listener within the story has yet to see or know of this character firsthand. Therefore, the silhouette is that of the listener's best comparison to what they know, putting the reader in the same mindset. When Luffy is told of the Yonko, he already knew what Shanks l, and had a good idea of Whitebeards appearance due to Ace's tatoo, but Big mom and Kaido were knew names he had not heard before. In this case, Sabo probably equates Shanks to that of a Knight due to Luffy's high praise of him, and therefore that is the image we can best picture.
I'm not sure it changes anything but the clones can be aged pretty easily. All the Germa clones were aged at a faster rate clone wars style. Which also means my clone-beard theory still holds lol.
That is not the problem, the problem is that Shanks is older than any of the other clones in the series and even MADS themselves, yeah... MAYBE the holy knight is a clone of Shanks, but Shanks is not a clone of a holy knight.
The siluete is the same man we saw meeting at the gorosei, he was hiding because people could thing he was one of the four emperors, his brother/twin Shanks. And the pirate he wanted to talk about was the same Shanks we thought he was.
I showed my friends today for the million time the gorosei meeting with "Shanks" and it just becomes clearer after their conversation that it's defenatly not the Shanks we know about all those 1000+ chapers, the scar is missing, he shadowed most of his body to cover up the supposed missing arm but what convinced me is the way the gorosei talk to him and they didn't adress him as "Red-Hair" even once
The holy knights might also just be world nobles who want to do the punch fighting. And due to their wealth and power they could have the potential to learn the best of the best punch fighting

Gol D Roger was probably one of Gods Knights who went to go be a pirate. And one of his old knight friends probably left Shanks for him to take care of. Similarly Garp was probably an old Gods Knight too which is why Roger trusted his son with Garp.

Its also possible that the "shanks" we see in the reverie doesn't have Shanks color scheme. This would be impossible to tell due to the manga being black and white. The anime is also notorious for coloring characters wrong. What if the Shanks we see at the reverie was a blonde? or had more orange hair? But the anime just adapted him as Shanks for obvious reasons?
Cobras exact words in the official translation are "This will not take long... But i dont want you waiting around getting bored." Which to me does seem like he knows more than hes letting on and doesnt want to worry Chaka and Pell
More than likely it's 1 of 2 things in regards to shanks. 1) long lost brother or even his father. We don't exactly know how shanks got separated from his parents so it could be his father looking for his son. 2) knowing what we do about the seraphim, it is a possibility that he could've been patient zero without even knowing.
The cloning shit reminds me of so many different movies and shows that involves cloning, body snatching, body manipulation, and different variants. Leaves you questioning everything like the invasion of the skrulls or the invasion of the body snatchers

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he wanted to probe them for some pretty heavy questions that they confirm/deny purely based on how they react to the question, leading to Cobra needing to be killed right then and there, but not before he's able to get that information to Sabo, hence why HE is there
I think the nicest touch to the Doffy page, he isnt smiling, he's frowning, up until this page, (minus a chunk of the Luffy fight) he had a smile plastered to his face. If we do end up seeing him later (cross guild maybe), im expecting to see some pretty big character growth
Calling it now: The Shanks looking figure is Shanks's older brother that put baby Shanks in the treasure chest in the hopes of getting rid of him/killing him.
Just occurred to me: if Shanks has a twin of equivalent (or even greater?) swordsmanship then I can imagine a potential scenario where we see a 'rematch' between a Shanks-equivalent and Hawkeye Mihawk, who never got over the pirate Shanks losing his arm. Furthermore, if Shanks' twin were to win that potential duel against Mihawk, the stakes for Zoro's involvement in the arguably inevitable fight against Imu and the holy knights would also become that much greater, i.e his dream would also be tied up in that conflict.
Taking the food away from the nobles is great idea and very effective. They’ll have more food trouble which reveals more of the nobles’ atrocities to more people. As well as increasing taxing the population, which in turn causes more nations to fall behind like Whitebeard’s nation, more people turn to pirate protection or revolt altogether. 2 birds 1 stone, put the nobles in a bad spot and potentially gain more members.
i think Cora knew that this would be his last chance to confront the Gorossei about the contents of the polneglyph in Arabasta, reminder that Robin shared her translation with Cobra, after she told him how special this particular polneglyph is, because it contains truth about the void century, so if we get to see the conversation that went on between him and the gorossei, we might learn some new stuff about the nefertari family and the celestial dragons.
Regarding Doffy's daddy, while he had good intentions, he shares the same lack of awareness of the world around him that other celestial dragons do. I'm curious how education works in Mary Geosie. Can't imagine there's an emphasis on knowledge when they can literally have anything they want. I doubt Homing could even read let alone understand the severity of his mistake to leave.
Doflamingo’s father could have done much more good for the world with his power as a world noble, such as how Mjosgard was able to protect Shirahoshi, rather than throwing the power away for the sake of morals.
think about it , after egghead the final war saga will start , so if oda wants to include all the pirates ( cancelling some matchups like shanks vs BB etc) then the marines team should be strong enough . Other than 5 elders , 3 admirals and 1 fleet admiral , Imu and some marines who have decent haki , marines dont really have a chance against the worst gen . So maybe holy knights might introduce some villains to equal the fight matchups and if possible reveal Kidd's backstory..

Interesting how despite all the CP9/0 cameos in 1083 Kaku is the only one missing: either he is doing something offscreen or foreshadowing him finally standing up for himself, and to Lucci, and quit being an assassin. He is currently alone with Zoro on Egghead Island whom he has an interesting relationship with.

Every time I think of Doflamingo's past and his father, all I can see is rage that could never have been held back once that dam started to crack. Homing made the right choice in wanting to live away from the rest of the Celestial Dragons, but it was foolish to take his family with him. Doflamingo was driven PAST rage when his mother died, and her death started a chain reaction that could never be stopped. It's probably a good thing we never see his eyes, because I can only imagine what chronic sustained rage and cruelty has turned those windows of the soul into.
As entertaining as the Holy Knight Shanks theory is, I don't think Oda would just give us bad Shanks just yet. It's too easy. The Holy Knights being the Figarland family makes more sense to me.
If you look at the scene when shanks met the gorosei he was completely covered and it was made sure we cant see the side of his face with the scar, also they said nothing which indicates that it really was shanks
I hope the 9 knights are just members of 9 different celestial dragon families. That way we will have 14 named by the time all Gorosei are named, along with these 9 knights. We also know Roswald, Donquixote, and Nefertari. And Fegerland (if canon). Which would make 18 of the 20 families known. Unless those two other named saints we’ve seen would count as the other two families; I just didn’t count them since full names weren’t given for them.
Cobra for sure wanted to talk about the ponegliphs you could see it in his face when robin brought it up on alabasta and itd also be the reason for his death.
At this point, I think it's safe to assume that Oda doesn't give a shit about travel time. He's going full Game of Thrones with how quickly characters are popping up in other places.

What if Rocks was not a bad guy? what if he was like a revolutionary who wanted to get rid of the current government for the betterment of the world, cause the government portrays Luffy as a villain, same for Roger and Whitebeard, what if at god valley he was trying to kill the 5 elders or some other world nobles that could’ve left a huge impact and saving there slaves
When Saint Charlos gets bashed by Mosgard, it is mentioned that he is going to see the world's greatest doctor. Perhaps a God's Knight? Maybe a potential final opponent for Chopper?
What about the possibility of not two Shanks but only one Shanks, who is a holy knight and a Yonko? Kind of like the situation with Doflamingo. That would explain why the mere presence of Shanks stopped the Paramount war.

I think oda is going to do something masterful with this flashback. It has started with sabo telling it but I think it will end with us returning to Bonney and her coming back into the egghead story. I think the focus is gonna shift maybe after this next chapter and we will maybe get one or 2 more after that focus more on Bonney and the flashback will end with Bonney crying in that room on egghead & maybe even being found by someone.
My thought was that the nobles would just send out the marines to “confiscate” food from commoners. I can’t see them ever letting themselves come close to starvation
Considering that Kizaru went immediately to save the slaves at the auction houses on Sabaody then it’s very obvious that your theory on how the Celestial Dragons forms their food rations are formed is completely correct.
Even if that were the case, it still would require a ton of marine firepower to get past the revolutionary blockade just to go steal food from commoners.

Even if Homing had gone about their integration into regular society much smarter and much more successfully Doffy would have still ended up hating him for it because he was no longer on top.
I really liked dofdads terrible decision making. Like yeah, he's definitely a good, nice guy but so are all the intentions on the road to hell. His decision was still rooted in the same kind of self-centered, short sighted petulance that all celestial dragons are known for. Dude just assumed he was entitled to the populace accepting him in to their world but still chose to live in a mansion with servants until his whole family paid the price.
It really drives home how valuable and important to societies growth selfless people like the straw hats are.

Thats a good point. While I'm sure the manga will never go into any amount of detail, with how evil the world nobles are, I just can't imagine they have never gotten...frisky with a slave. But these slave kids wouldn't be on the same level probably, but still somewhat considered better than commoners because of the noble blood in them. So giving them a high position, but still one in service to the nobles, somewhat make sense.

Charlos has at least 13 wives pre time skip with most of not all being random women in the grand line they kidnap and forced to marry him. Something to consider about the idea of tell don't show, is that in a long running battle manga power inflation is a real issue as each battle a character is involved in tends to show some new ability. By only telling readers of a fight or showing only a tiny glimpse, the characters involved can always remain thought of as a high tier battle without ever attaching it to a specific power level and without needing to employ narrative devices like "X was holding back out of ego". If Oda ever showed all of the high level fights he alludes to, he would in effect be imposing a creative limitation on just what he could show for all other characters in the future.

Also Fujitora is a member of sword and Homing was good at heart but still had some Celestial Dragon arrogance thinking that they could live like normal and people would forgive them. I think it makes a lot of sense that Shanks and Mihawk are holy knight heirs. One who was separated from their family at god valley and another who abdicated their responsibility to study the blade amongst the worlds strongest fighters. Brought to rivalry due to their similar pedigree. Mihawk may i also note has the sort of disconnected disposition of a world noble (zoro claims he lacks humanity) and manner of dress similar to Spanish influenced nobility like many world noble family names.
In regards to homing, I think it is his fault that Doffy ended up like that, not because he was a bad person (probably one of the kindest out of all of the celestial dragons) but because of his gross negligence and naïveté leading to his family getting brutally tortured and his wife die from anime mothers disease. Honestly if Rosinante didn't go down to live in the common realm, I could see him turning out to be very similar to Homing, while Doffy would still somewhat end up like St. Charlos or the other celestial dragons (in the way that he would have a lot of slaves and probably be cruel to them) but would not be so far gone as he is now

We know why Cobra wanted to speak with the Gorosei, it was to talk about the Poneglyphs after he spoke with Robin on Alabasta.
I love how Doffy reacts to his father in the flashback. Everytime Homming tries to appeal to people's empathy, or in Mingos' eyes "kowtow", he is annoyed and pissed off. The straw that broke the camel's back was him not Homming not getting angry and still begging as they're being crucified, there Doffy is fed up with hid naivety and, I theorize, awakens his conquerors. The extra straw that absolutely destroyed the camel was him STILL apologizing to his children which are "beneath" him, and gets shot for it. It's a harrowing story about a naive and overly kindhearted man fathering a malicious type of alpha, it just can't be sustained.
I love how with all the goofiness and romance of OP, Oda gives us very real and poignant relationships which reflect real life.

This may be a long shot but the Knights, make me think that Brook may be associated with them. He was protecting royal convoys before becoming a pirate.
I have a theory which the nine knights are a parallel to the 9 red scabberds, and that shanks is one of them but is the kunjro of the group. They both have red hair (i know it dosent sound like much but its very fitting of oda) and the both gave up there arm in away to better the cause that they really stand behind. Its very like oda to have this very "two sides of the same coin" kind of foreshadowing.
I think it's quite funny, because in certain ways Oda is a master at Show don't Tell. Especially when it comes to showing what characters do.
He's never going to have Zoro say directly to the reader's face "I'm too afraid that I'm not going to be strong enough"
Or he's never going to have Luffy talk about how he's good at telling how people really feel about something.
I think it just comes down to the fact that Oda is really good at characterization and showing that through subtle ways, but maybe not in other cases

Homing is the definition of the path to hell is paved with good intentions. He was honestly one of the best parents we may have seen in the series as far as truly caring and providing for his family. He was just blinded by the ignorance that came from being raised and living his whole life as a celestial dragon.

What I find interesting about when the Figarland Family name was mentioned...was that the Elders only mentioned it due to the world learning that Uta was Shanks' Daughter, it wasn't said about Shanks, it was addressing somebody possibly related to them
they didn't straight up say Shanks was Figarland Shanks, but rather said Uta was Figarland Uta and by extension the fans figured out that meant Shanks was a Figarland
Not fully watched video yet, but Figarland seems to mean 'of the Land of Figs' and the land of figs and Olives is another word for Jerusalem which is where the Knights Templar were originally based. And the Holy Knights Templar were originally numbered as 9 members.
I think the Figarland Family is absolutely connected to the Holy Knights, they might all be Figarlands. I dont know yet if it is Shanks or if it is His Brother or dad. But I wouldnt be suprised if Oda had the name as a clue.

At this point, Luffy is on a pretty clear trajectory to confront the celestial dragons in some way, be that direct or indirect (as this final saga has a lot of competing factions, its too early to know where that'll shake out). Did Sabo see Shanks at the Reverie? What could be interesting in a tragic way, is if Sabo somehow has to be the one to deliver the information to Luffy that Shanks isn't the role model he's built his life around. Does he take Sabo at his word? Does Luffy defend his perception of Shanks' honor? Does the revelation set the stage for a serious "who are you?" conversation between Red Hair and Straw Hat?
Shank's being a twin might overly complicate his story too much. Tbh I think it'd just be better if he himself was the holy night. I do feel that kaido's lack of back story I think means he'll be explored much later, possibly with a sort of redemption arc
I think the idea of Shanks being a villain is awful and would ruin his character for me.

In chapter 1062 Bonney mentions that she met Sabo in marijoa and probably helped him in freeing kuma. I think she learned from Sabo that to deactivate his programing that she needed to go to Vegapunk.
Interesting but my thoughts on that are 1, She knows Vegapunks was involved without sabo saying so, and 2, she remembers she could tell Luffy about meeting sabo there in a way that I don’t think she would’ve if he was the whole reason she was there

Maybe that time in the anime where Ace met Shanks, he actually met his twin brother who also happened to have crewmates who are twins of his entire crew. That would explain why he had 2 arms

I have always believed that that any characters introduced in the series as a silhouette were done this way because the listener within the story has yet to see or know of this character firsthand. Therefore, the silhouette is that of the listener's best comparison to what they know, putting the reader in the same mindset. When Luffy is told of the Yonko, he already knew what Shanks l, and had a good idea of Whitebeards appearance due to Ace's tatoo, but Big mom and Kaido were knew names he had not heard before. In this case, Sabo probably equates Shanks to that of a Knight due to Luffy's high praise of him, and therefore that is the image we can best picture.
I'm not sure it changes anything but the clones can be aged pretty easily. All the Germa clones were aged at a faster rate clone wars style. Which also means my clone-beard theory still holds lol.
That is not the problem, the problem is that Shanks is older than any of the other clones in the series and even MADS themselves, yeah... MAYBE the holy knight is a clone of Shanks, but Shanks is not a clone of a holy knight.

The siluete is the same man we saw meeting at the gorosei, he was hiding because people could thing he was one of the four emperors, his brother/twin Shanks. And the pirate he wanted to talk about was the same Shanks we thought he was.
I showed my friends today for the million time the gorosei meeting with "Shanks" and it just becomes clearer after their conversation that it's defenatly not the Shanks we know about all those 1000+ chapers, the scar is missing, he shadowed most of his body to cover up the supposed missing arm but what convinced me is the way the gorosei talk to him and they didn't adress him as "Red-Hair" even once
The holy knights might also just be world nobles who want to do the punch fighting. And due to their wealth and power they could have the potential to learn the best of the best punch fighting

Gol D Roger was probably one of Gods Knights who went to go be a pirate. And one of his old knight friends probably left Shanks for him to take care of.
Similarly Garp was probably an old Gods Knight too which is why Roger trusted his son with Garp.

Its also possible that the "shanks" we see in the reverie doesn't have Shanks color scheme. This would be impossible to tell due to the manga being black and white. The anime is also notorious for coloring characters wrong. What if the Shanks we see at the reverie was a blonde? or had more orange hair? But the anime just adapted him as Shanks for obvious reasons?
Cobras exact words in the official translation are "This will not take long... But i dont want you waiting around getting bored." Which to me does seem like he knows more than hes letting on and doesnt want to worry Chaka and Pell

More than likely it's 1 of 2 things in regards to shanks. 1) long lost brother or even his father. We don't exactly know how shanks got separated from his parents so it could be his father looking for his son.
2) knowing what we do about the seraphim, it is a possibility that he could've been patient zero without even knowing.

Just occurred to me: if Shanks has a twin of equivalent (or even greater?) swordsmanship then I can imagine a potential scenario where we see a 'rematch' between a Shanks-equivalent and Hawkeye Mihawk, who never got over the pirate Shanks losing his arm.
Furthermore, if Shanks' twin were to win that potential duel against Mihawk, the stakes for Zoro's involvement in the arguably inevitable fight against Imu and the holy knights would also become that much greater, i.e his dream would also be tied up in that conflict.
Taking the food away from the nobles is great idea and very effective. They’ll have more food trouble which reveals more of the nobles’ atrocities to more people. As well as increasing taxing the population, which in turn causes more nations to fall behind like Whitebeard’s nation, more people turn to pirate protection or revolt altogether. 2 birds 1 stone, put the nobles in a bad spot and potentially gain more members.
Doflamingo is a pretty good example of what celestial dragons do when desperate
i think Cora knew that this would be his last chance to confront the Gorossei about the contents of the polneglyph in Arabasta, reminder that Robin shared her translation with Cobra, after she told him how special this particular polneglyph is, because it contains truth about the void century, so if we get to see the conversation that went on between him and the gorossei, we might learn some new stuff about the nefertari family and the celestial dragons.
Regarding Doffy's daddy, while he had good intentions, he shares the same lack of awareness of the world around him that other celestial dragons do. I'm curious how education works in Mary Geosie. Can't imagine there's an emphasis on knowledge when they can literally have anything they want. I doubt Homing could even read let alone understand the severity of his mistake to leave.

think about it , after egghead the final war saga will start , so if oda wants to include all the pirates ( cancelling some matchups like shanks vs BB etc) then the marines team should be strong enough . Other than 5 elders , 3 admirals and 1 fleet admiral , Imu and some marines who have decent haki , marines dont really have a chance against the worst gen . So maybe holy knights might introduce some villains to equal the fight matchups and if possible reveal Kidd's backstory..

Every time I think of Doflamingo's past and his father, all I can see is rage that could never have been held back once that dam started to crack.
Homing made the right choice in wanting to live away from the rest of the Celestial Dragons, but it was foolish to take his family with him.
Doflamingo was driven PAST rage when his mother died, and her death started a chain reaction that could never be stopped.
It's probably a good thing we never see his eyes, because I can only imagine what chronic sustained rage and cruelty has turned those windows of the soul into.

As entertaining as the Holy Knight Shanks theory is, I don't think Oda would just give us bad Shanks just yet. It's too easy. The Holy Knights being the Figarland family makes more sense to me.

I hope the 9 knights are just members of 9 different celestial dragon families. That way we will have 14 named by the time all Gorosei are named, along with these 9 knights. We also know Roswald, Donquixote, and Nefertari. And Fegerland (if canon). Which would make 18 of the 20 families known. Unless those two other named saints we’ve seen would count as the other two families; I just didn’t count them since full names weren’t given for them.

What about the possibility of not two Shanks but only one Shanks, who is a holy knight and a Yonko? Kind of like the situation with Doflamingo. That would explain why the mere presence of Shanks stopped the Paramount war.

I think oda is going to do something masterful with this flashback. It has started with sabo telling it but I think it will end with us returning to Bonney and her coming back into the egghead story. I think the focus is gonna shift maybe after this next chapter and we will maybe get one or 2 more after that focus more on Bonney and the flashback will end with Bonney crying in that room on egghead & maybe even being found by someone.

Considering that Kizaru went immediately to save the slaves at the auction houses on Sabaody then it’s very obvious that your theory on how the Celestial Dragons forms their food rations are formed is completely correct.
Even if that were the case, it still would require a ton of marine firepower to get past the revolutionary blockade just to go steal food from commoners.
