Bro needed a W. He really got stiffed in Egghead so far. Liam made the Franky Bing(o) card and everything. And we got like two panels of Franky with star eyes fanboying about VP, and that's it.
Post-TS Franky moments have usually been small or sort of basic on the surface, but in the past two arcs he has single handedly saved both Luffy and Zoro just by being present and having quick thinking (and extendable arms). Definitely shouldn't be understated how absolutely essential he's been, even though we haven't gotten a big Vegapunk-related power up moment many of us thinks he deserves.
its also reminds me of fullmetal Alchemist brotherhood story where father had made 5-6 warriors for himself from soul stone. just like imu made gorosei
I think the panels where Sanji runs to save Bonney, only to be knocked down and start spluttering blood is a great showcase of Saturns' power. Sanji has recently just went through his transformations and unlocked his dormant power as a Vinsmoke for this to now feel like it's all been stripped away.
Luffy is still rubber even when he's out of gas, right? So isn't it odd that Frankys punch drew blood? What if Luffy isn't rubber while he's like this?
I think it’s safe to assume that Whitebeard was also a buccaneer considering how oda drew him as a kid is really close to how Kuma looked, even Whitebeard as an adult looks remarkably similar to kuma.
Wait wait wait, if Whitebeard is a buccaneer, is that while he never had a Biological family? The government made sure he couldn't, or he didn't so that his children wouldn't be hunted down and slaughtered or enslaved, or he *did* but abandoned them for their own good so they wouldn't be tied back to Buccaneer blood and regrets it(least likely tbh)?
Kuma’s father knowing about Nika and even the specific dance has me thinking that Joyboy was a Buccaneer rather than giant. Still big enough to fit that large hat in Imu’s possession
You're on to something, they said the buccaneer race committed a grave sin that made all of them become slaves for life. It makes sense for them to make an entire race become slaves or extinct if that was the case
It’s also interesting that it seems like the Buccaneer race is somehow related to Joyboy/Nika and that they have passed down not only his appearance and his dance but also the Drums of Liberation. Maybe performing the same rhythm will restart gear 5 cause Luffy sort of did it already where he forced his heart to beat to the sounds of the drums. Would also explain why the WG is so anal about making sure no one knows about Nika cause his power source is basically having believers.
yup i believe you are right regarding having more believer means they are stronger just like how on the anime "Kamikatsu, What God Does in a World Without Gods" God power scales they keep track on how many followers they have and it gives them more power having more believers, imagine if video snail capture luffy performing the Nika dance in the night that would make alot of people known that SGNika actually exist and not just a story anymore

Sengoku said that Garp doesn’t like to talk about it so i would say he was trying to stop Rocks so they don’t threaten the WG, and it just so happens that maybe Roger helped so he could get the treasures from the tournament. In one chapter you can see that their ships is full of treasures when they find shanks. So Roger was not defending the celestial dragons. About Garp maybe he was but just to protect the marines from Rocks
Idk how long Kuma's flashback will last, or what else it will have. But after learning how he met Ivankov & Ginny, wouldn't this stand to reason that we'll see how those 3 met Dragon assuming he was in God Valley?!
I think the reason why garp went to godvalley wasn’t to save the celestial dragons but to save his son Dragonthat was accidentally caught and become one of the slaves
Yeah i could easily imagine Whitebeard seeing little Kuma, who reminds him of his younger self, stand up for Kuma, Ivankov and Ginny. Would not surprise me if he gives the kids to a marine rookie which turns out to be Dragon. Meanwhile he has to fend off Garling. After the skirmish Garp would learn from his son that Rocks did not murder all the innocent people and Roger would learn that Whitebeard is an okay dude.
Funfact: The Bucaneer that was an inspiration for Shanks design is called Francois L'Olonais. His surname "L'Olonais" was also the inspiration, with some adjustments, for the name of "Roronoa Zoro" as Oda confirmed himself in an SBS
Learning that God Valley Incident was a human hunting competition for the World Nobles, I'm starting to think that Rocks might have been a good guy, well compared to the nobles at least.
As someone already said, Xebec most likely can be compared to Black Beard: a pure evil man that people despise and are scared of. Meanwhile Celestial Dragons are the type of people that makes other people in general lose their hope and trust in humanity. Both are evil, but in a complete different way. And I agree that Celestial Dragon is worse.
@@justawanderingoldman7699 well this is One piece and so far every villain we encounter that is depicted pure evil have some sort of a great back story behind everything and the world government always all the time covering their asses and spread false information to the world
Imagine Jinny is Atlas and was transformed into one of Vegapunk's satellites after a tragic incident. This could give an entire new meaning to all of the Vegapunk's satellites being different people in Kuma's flashback who had something tragic happen to them and reborn as a satellite. Imagine seeing Shaka or even York as a character in the flashback. This could even tell us why York so desperately wants to be a celestial dragon-- she was originally a slave and was jealous of them.
Honestly, the way Oda has encapsulated the God Valley incident within Kuma’s back story wants to make me give him more time to write the next few chapters.
If I had a nickel for every time a break happens when garling appears around the end of the chapter, I’d have two nickels which isn’t much but strange considering that it happened twice.
With the Lunarians, Giants and now this. Joyboy could pretty much be from any race. But if somehow God Valley is a parallel to Dressrosa I think maybe just maybe Joyboy was a celestial dragon gone rogue.
"just seeing your face makes the wound given by that bastard ache again" whitebeard was talking about shanks father who looks the same in the flashback.
I feel like maybe he wasn’t what we think he is and maybe him, roger and garp were all sort of manipulated into battling each other. Thing about rocks is if he really was super evil then why did whitebeard of all people join his crew? Whitebeard was never evil so why would he be an accomplice to such evil and depravity? Also I think that dragon might actually be the son of rocks and not garp and he took in dragon after him and roger took on rocks. And maybe that’s why roger knew he could trust garp to take in ace and care for him because he saw him do it before with dragon. That would also kinda explain why dragon rejected being like garp and being a marine, he learned of his real past and wanted to finish what his dad started by taking down the celestial dragons and the world government
If they keep Xebec as an actual bad guy. then the most simple explanation is that Xebec had a good goal of overthrowing the WG but at God Valley he didn't care about the people and was going to wipe everyone out so Garp and Roger had to stop him.
I would think it as a sort of "out of the frying pan, into the fire" situation - Rocks simply wanted to usurp Imu as king of the world, and freeing people from slavery isn't included in that from what I have seen/read so far. The only thing pointing to Rocks not being just as evil as Blackbeard, Imu, or the Gorosei is the inclusion of Whitebeard, and even then we see him being mocked for valuing family and comradery over gold and other common treasures. It's entirely possible that Whitebeard held no loyalty to Rocks as a captain and only stayed because it was the only crew (that wasn't Roger's) which would accept him for whatever reason.
@@jeremyroberts8822 it might be similar to Gin and Don Krieg Don Krieg was a jerk and Gin wasn't, but he was loyal for his own reasons Maybe Xebec changed, and Whitebeard was just in a big denial until God Valley
I love the line about Nika coming and taking you out to sea, where you can be free under the sun. Because that's what Luffy has done for almost everyone on his crew.
I think it’s very interesting how there’s suddenly a new race of Buccaneers who tend to be part-giant when a lot of the theories surrounding the Ancient Kingdom is that it was a kingdom of pirates who were giants. I feel like they might be their direct descendants, which would make sense with their persecution until extinction, and that the Ancient Kingdom was actually one of Buccaneers 🤔
God Valley has always been framed in a way to be the place where that dastardly villain Rocks met his end. If Oda turns it around to make us root for him, that is a stroke of pure genius. And let’s face it, if Rocks is there to kill all those World Nobles while they are slaughtering people for sport, we are ALL rooting for him.
Could be... but what makes this theory fall flat is why would a pirate like Gol D. Roger help the hero of the hero of the Navy fight Rocks if Rocks came to kill Celestial Dragons?
Why indeed. But my guess would be Rocks either a) shows up late and starts killing the world nobles after the islanders are all killed so Roger feels further killing is pointless or B) Rocks shows up and starts killing everyone indiscriminately including innocent islanders so Roger steps in to stop that. Who knows maybe Roger was even born on God Valley and is trying to protect his home.
Ah that’s right I had forgotten that. Point still stands though, we know Rocks wants to take over the world, it’s not a coincidence that he shows up to a gathering of all the world nobles. If we didn’t know anything about Rodger and Garp we would be rooting against them if it meant beating up on the WG dickheads.
...listen, there have been 129,864,880 books that have been published since the Gutenberg press was invented. A large number of those have been fictional stories, add to that every other media including video-games, tv shows, movies, manga, comic books, poems and so on...I could bet my life that in this sea of stories there are about a thousand better stories written by better story tellers than Oda. It's just probability.
Is it just me or is Franky just as or more eager than Luffy and Zoro to fight strong people? No matter who it is the dude just laughs and goes “Luffy’s gonna be pirate king why the hell would I care about a yonko/admiral/gorosei”
I am looking forward for the God Valley flashback where we see the debut of Rocks D. Xebec in his full appearance and the Rocks Pirates composed of young Whitebeard, Big Mom, Kaido, and Shiki and also Buckingham Stussy.
I'm putting the chapter aside for a moment to appreciate GLR artists' works, because damn all these good delish artworks that my eyes are feasting upon, and they crunch it so very quickly even for early chapters, shout out to all of these amazing artists 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 also extra shout out to the editors as well (if it's Liam himself, well, he gets double shout outs then)
Also, this "hunting game" reminds me of the short story "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell. A big game hunter is washed overboard and he swims to a nearby island for survival, only to disciver that he is being hunted by someone else on the island.
My head cannon at this point is either the rocks pirates are under the control of the world government or God valley just happens to be the place where the incident takes place. It could have happened anywhere just happened to be on God's valley at the time of the world nobles being there
The part where kuma is laughing and clapping along with his dad, and he gets off-screen shot while his blood spatters on the still laughing kuma's face, before the face transitions to pain. Is going to hit SO HARD when it's animated
Even tho I too was upset about the major cliffhanger for 14 days .. I think it's good that oda takes his time with this flashback because it's very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very... I don't even know what it is
It's very very very very very very very important that Oda doesn't overstress too much so he'll actually live way longer than 60-ish years whereas other mangaka often die around that age? Agreed!
Get your tear buckets ready!!! This is the second-to-most anticipated flashback of the series. Kuma believing in Nika is so fitting for where egghead is at. Rocks also has a new motive and at the moment can't see how he is going to be a bad person. So the question is, so we see dragon at Egghead?
I teared up during kumas backstory and i had a feeling of genuine dread and excitement when i saw god valley, this is so good, this is the best arc in a long time especially for lore-piece lovers
I still say it's ridiculous that Luffy is the only character in One Piece with a Devil Fruit ability that wipes him out for using it. Whether it was turning into a kid for gear 3rd, or this passing out in gear 4 or 5. No other user gets drained like that no matter what they do. I don't see Lucci getting wiped out using his awaked form, or Kaido, or Do Flamingo using his ultimate abilities. Nobody, so it's completely nonsensical to me.
Honestly, among the one piece content creators, in the, let's call it content creator main stream way, you are the best. You consistently upload, have a very engaging and honestly entertaining way of expressing yourself, what you put out isn't baseless nonesense and most of all the artwork and video editing is incredibly good. That said, I am usually looking forward more to Joyboy's and Tekking101's reviews, even though they're almost only for listening. Joyboy just goes more in depth and meta and I just enjoy tekkings personality a lot. That also said, in the mainstream sense of "putting out entertaining content of 5 to at most 18 minutes reliably and often", milking the algorithm and so on, you are by far my favorite one piece channel and the only one I subscribed to. So yes, I am giving you the vote. You really earned it.
Vegapunk commented that Saturn's eye-thing power must be his Devil Fruit ability, which further reinforces the idea that not all Elders have a "you die from looking at me power". Especially when that ability is something that the Ushi Oni have according to the legends.
The guard on the sword stuck out to me too 😂 I immediately formed a head canon where it got bent on the head of some poor innocent person that Garling killed, so he decided to even it out on some other additional heads as needed..
With the reveal of a part giant race I can't help but feel like this is the perfect thing to explain both usopps bizarre durability feats and his connection to the giants

So Saturn says to Frankie " it looks like you're the type of crew that works together" in God Valley we see that he is touching ground so it's safe to assume that the last time Saturn saw a pirate crew was 38 years ago in the last piratecrew he saw was the Rocks Pirates which were known to not work together mind blown🤯🤯🤯
This chapter was insane! But how is nobody talking about how problematic the situation is for the SH? Surely there is somethin big comming up otherwise this isn't going to end well...
I see that Figarland Garling didn't have a bubble helmet in his time as a member of God's Knights. I look forward for the debut of other members of God's Knights.
He still is a member of the God's Knights in the present day. I think he's the supreme commander. And he still doesn't wear a helmet. So he's just like the Gorosei in that regard.

I think the panels where Sanji runs to save Bonney, only to be knocked down and start spluttering blood is a great showcase of Saturns' power. Sanji has recently just went through his transformations and unlocked his dormant power as a Vinsmoke for this to now feel like it's all been stripped away.

Franky is always so clutch in critical moments
I'm glad there are people giving him his props. The man is an indispensable treasure and absolute boss at everything he sets out to do.
@@Aether_GM that’s a good observation.
If anybody wondered "how could Kuma volunteer to remove his memories and emotions?" Yeah...I'd probably want a lobotomy too after all that.
Great observation on Jinny’s similarity with Atlas. With Saturn making Atlas observe Bonny’s execution it ties everything together.
I think it’s safe to assume that Whitebeard was also a buccaneer considering how oda drew him as a kid is really close to how Kuma looked, even Whitebeard as an adult looks remarkably similar to kuma.
Edward Weevil says hi!
Nah Oda just really likes drawing tall people. Their are so many characters that tower over Luffy and gang.
The buccaneers were half giants right? So they are technically descendants of giants anyways
Makes sense because Luffy's muscle muscle looks like a Buccaneer
@@adil0028 yes, i think they were half giants
It’s also interesting that it seems like the Buccaneer race is somehow related to Joyboy/Nika and that they have passed down not only his appearance and his dance but also the Drums of Liberation. Maybe performing the same rhythm will restart gear 5 cause Luffy sort of did it already where he forced his heart to beat to the sounds of the drums. Would also explain why the WG is so anal about making sure no one knows about Nika cause his power source is basically having believers.
Imagine Kuma shows up and uses his paws to compress the air and make the Drums play.
@@beatgamer99crazy
yup i believe you are right regarding having more believer means they are stronger just like how on the anime "Kamikatsu, What God Does in a World Without Gods" God power scales they keep track on how many followers they have and it gives them more power having more believers, imagine if video snail capture luffy performing the Nika dance in the night that would make alot of people known that SGNika actually exist and not just a story anymore

Roger and Garp better have a good reason on defending the Celestial dragons against Rocks.
@@yisussolutions1690 Roger let the celestial dragons kill all those slaves and God valley people?
Idk how long Kuma's flashback will last, or what else it will have. But after learning how he met Ivankov & Ginny, wouldn't this stand to reason that we'll see how those 3 met Dragon assuming he was in God Valley?!
Maybe garp is dragging dragon with him to make him a marine and here he sees the cruelty of WG and becomes a freedom fighter.
@@fanboy4you Nah he doesn't decide all that until the Ohara incident when he saw the ruins of it.
Funfact: The Bucaneer that was an inspiration for Shanks design is called Francois L'Olonais.
His surname "L'Olonais" was also the inspiration, with some adjustments, for the name of "Roronoa Zoro" as Oda confirmed himself in an SBS
The name Roronoa, yeah, but "Zoro" was definitely inspired by Zorro - someone who left his signature "Z" using three slashes.

Heck kaido saved king and waited for Joyboy, big mom wanted an empire for all races and Whitebeard was nice.. All of them were together with Xebec
@@justawanderingoldman7699 well this is One piece and so far every villain we encounter that is depicted pure evil have some sort of a great back story behind everything and the world government always all the time covering their asses and spread false information to the world
As a franky fan , i am happy we got to see him shine (even for just a bit) in this chapter . Highly appreciated Oda boy
It was *SUPER* to see Franky get to be part of the adventure as more then window dressing!
Kuma is such a great character! Can't wait to see more about his past (and cry like a little child again).
At this point I need a dragons' past as well and his involvement in the story. This is the final saga dammit!!
@@CHUTlYA Maybe next few chapters will be about God valley incident or about Kuma's past
Honestly, the way Oda has encapsulated the God Valley incident within Kuma’s back story wants to make me give him more time to write the next few chapters.
Garling: "I'm taking my granddaughter Uta into my custody."
Shanks: "OVER MY DEAD BODY, OLD MAN!"
Uta: "Grandpa has a funny hairstyle."
Considering the alternative is her almost killing 70% of the world. Being a world noble might be thr better case. Weird exception
Garling: Looks like I need to ground you, son, for good...
@@langadube9611 Joy Boy must be a hybrid of all races like Ichigo😜

@giwrgospetrou1159🦛 real
Yeah he's hiding pieces so we won't know
"just seeing your face makes the wound given by that bastard ache again" whitebeard was talking about shanks father who looks the same in the flashback.
After seeing kuma's backstory, i truly wonder if ROCKS successfully raiding God valley would have been a bad thing or not
I feel like maybe he wasn’t what we think he is and maybe him, roger and garp were all sort of manipulated into battling each other.
It was definitely bad
I doubt Garp and Roger would try so hard to stop him if he was there to do something good
@@jeremyroberts8822 it might be similar to Gin and Don Krieg
Don Krieg was a jerk and Gin wasn't, but he was loyal for his own reasons
Maybe Xebec changed, and Whitebeard was just in a big denial until God Valley
I love the line about Nika coming and taking you out to sea, where you can be free under the sun. Because that's what Luffy has done for almost everyone on his crew.
Seeing Kuma's backstory with other reveals just takes the hype for next chapter to a whole new level.
If done properly the end of the celestial dragons will be one if the most satisfying things in fiction
Kuma is not my favorite character but he has always been either at the top or near the top of my "most interesting character" list.
@@peterepeatepete2845 I thought Roger was born in the town where he was executed?
@@adil0028You're right, Roger was born in Loguetown
Ah that’s right I had forgotten that. Point still stands though, we know Rocks wants to take over the world, it’s not a coincidence that he shows up to a gathering of all the world nobles. If we didn’t know anything about Rodger and Garp we would be rooting against them if it meant beating up on the WG dickheads.
