Reach, odst, and halo 3 are my favorites no contest. Reach will always be my favorite though I played it a bunch with my friends in 3 way split screen(couch co-op) and the campaign was amazing.
Noble Team dying in first person just makes it even sadder, especially Kat. You understand that deep down, Spartans are just as every bit of human as you are.
5:32 gives me a whole new light in just the amount of hopelessness noble six must have been feeling like even if you never played the game before and saw it on this angle you can see that he is obviously gonna die
I imagine that the epilogue song actually kinda plays as he is near his end. And that his own fists, gunshots and grunts are drowned out by the thought of him about to die manifested into that song.
And it makes it more clear what's actually happening in that scene. There were a couple elite kills that I never understood but seeing them in first person was like "Ok that's how it happened"
I've been trying to spread word for the longest - you can see Jorge get lost in space. He was never recovered and crash landed back onto Reach. One of the characters in Shadows of Reach is secretly Jorge
I mean TECHNICALLY the slipspace drive wouldn't kill him nessicarilly. Not right away anyway. Best case scenario he might survive until his his suit life support failed. Worst case the part of the carrier that got teleported explodes and kills him moments later...
It doesn't matter if they are alien or not. Just you fighting against a number of enemies just kicking and biting even though you know you won't win is just... Damn.
This is by far my favorite halo game. Each noble team member dies by how they lived. Cat was the brains and she got shot in the head. Carter was the captain and he went down with his ship. Jorge died in something bigger than himself. Emile died close combat, and noble 6 died the lone wolf.
For Jorge's death it's also an ironic twist of the knife for him. Jorge never had plans to leave Reach being that he was born there and he sacrificed his life after leaving Reach to blow up that super carrier.
I like the added touch of a Field Marshal appearing in 6's death scene, even though you never get to know its actually a field marshal from the cameras perspective. An under appreciated moment from bungies last halo that never got recognition until 12 years later. Thx Bungie!
I feel like Bungie added him to imply that the field marshal that was fought at the ship yard, didn’t die. Making him the final cause for most of Noble teams deaths. Truly interesting.
5:40 Six’s perspective looked a little jankey the whole way through but I love how it cleaned up a bit just as the final elite drew their sword. Pretty sick.
@@matthewday9921 no he gets the joke but he is saying facts, the covenant was legit glassing the buildings near them they had no time to wait even a little to recharge. By the time it recharged the bunker doors would have been closed and the Spartans would be ash
Of all of them, Carter's probably got to me the most. How monotone and calm he was going into it. Not knowing whether or not his sacrifice would save the human race or whether it would be in vain, leaving so much trust in the hands of his three remaining men. Luckily, he made the right choice. Reach's story is, in my opinion, the best. No matter how many times you play it. No matter how many times you bond with Noble and lose them, it always hits different.
This adds an extra level of emotion to see their last moments through their eyes. If anything some of these shots could of been used in the final product of the game. Like, if the camera view would of changed to her point of view after she was shot but instead she feel in a way where we could still see the sniper who shot her and Noble 6 trying to cover her, and then being dragged back into the other room.. That would of put the underlining meaning of the Battle of Reach - Hopelessness.
The death that made me feel the most sad at was six. Six knew it was his last days he was on a enemy planet surviving out numbered he could of stayed hiding but he grab his gun and had his last stand
The thing is, six survived for three more days after being jumped by those elites. Dude made the covenant work so hard to kill him they ended up glassing the general area for hours just to make sure he was dead.
@@johncarterlamb i dont think thats true. He survived for days yeah but it was up until that point. The energy sword he takes at the end when it cuts off kills him right then and there
Emiles death in first person looks bad ass. He will forever be a legend, and he died like one too. Edit: that part at 5:40 really gives me the chills. It’s like 6 is fighting all of these Elites and then right before he dies sees another one pull out his energy sword. Really gives you the chills.
other detail: that elite is a field marshal. the same rank as the one that overpowered and nearly killed him in winter contingency, the same rank as the one that killed kat and assisted in emile's death. not the same individual elite, but still a haunting last image to see as you die.
Carter’s in first person is insane. The dialogue before it has always been some of my favourite in the series, with his last words to Emile and Six are touching but still basically saying “get the mission done without me”. Seeing what he was doing while saying it though is crazy, you don’t really realise how fast he was going. Damn. Talk about bravery
Kat's dead scene was always sad, but seeing it on 1st person makes it even sadder, like if poor Kat bled out instead of instantly dying from the jackal shot.
Emiles and Kats were the only 2 that actually felt organic, the other 4 were extremely glitchy, still really cool someone was able to do this at all though, that's very impressive
Kat's wasn't glitchy?!?! thought it was the worst out of all of them. Carters would have looked sweet if as soon as he hit the scarab the whole thing instantly filled the screen with plasma and flames then went black.
@@johnhouston1590 no it's exactly how the cutscene is supposed to run we just don't see the wonky behind the scenes stuff from the perspective they intended

All it is, is the perspective we see, put on a characters perspective or the environment, but it's not "behind the scenes stuff" it's literally a glitch because the camera wasn't supposed to be removed from it's fixed position.
Would be amazing if you could experience these in VR with fixed angles etc and elites not tposing for noble 6's death, more content like this would be amazing, keep it up

@@mult1versal Im probably the only person on earth who didn't dislike that game.. And still I can say, halo 5 didn't come close to giving off the feel that reach did.
Once more reminding me why I love Noble Six, he fought till the very end and we don’t know how long he went after being knocked down and the Zealot ignited the sword, he might’ve kept going for some short time after that. Love that character, my character, our character…
I just want to point out how deadly Noble 6 is during his last stand. At 5:35 when he backhands the elite trying to stab him, it busts the shield completely. He did that with one hand. At 4:45 Emile shoots an elite with similar rank at point blank range with a shotgun and it didn't pop the shields fully. Really makes me appreciate how hard Noble 6 was fighting during his final moments. He was going all out, pulling no punches, and just throwing deadly adrenaline-dump haymakers that hit harder than a shotgun at point blank range.
I already had high respect for Noble Team, 6 especially, but this realization made me respect 6 even more. Fucker was designated “Hyper Lethal” for a damn good reason
The fact that everyone for a while was questioning for a while which elite at the end of 6's death was pulling out the Energy Sword right before the Zealot uses his dagger, it's finally nice to know at the end of it all that it was yet another Field Marshall avenging the first that 6 killed at the end of the game.
According to one of the people at Bungie the same field Marshall is actually the antagonist of reach. The one that partially kills Emile is the same one that kills Kat and trails the team to Halsey. Think of him as a Spartan Hunter. He's the one with the fuel rod you kill after six decides to stay behind and get on the gun.
@@gageowo9527 The first time I played through Reach, I beat the field marshal with an assassination and started "THAT'S RIGHT, THAT'S FOR KAT AND EMILE!" Year later, I played through it again and when I got to the field marshal, he totally started blowing me to smithereens and I had one health left with no ammo. It felt like I was fighting the terminator or something, like one of those movies where the bad guy is just invincible and takes everything the hero throws at him. I ran around a corner while it chased me, picked up a plasma nade that was on the floor , and smacked it before throwing it on it's feet and running away. It raised it's arms in the air and roared as it blew up, while my shield was down and i was literally one bullet away from dying. It seriously felt like the end of predator or something, like I just beat the unbeatable monster using my brains. Zero cutscenes. No cheesy call of duty style cutaways where it says "press x to do something", I had two totally cinematic moments that were purely born from the sand box. That's what made halo campaigns so good, you can replay them hundreds of times and it will still feel fresh.
Well done mate. You took all the death scenes from such an iconic game and made them that much better. It’s kinda funny cuz when I first bought Halo: Reach I already knew we were going to lose..I was almost in denial. HOPING by some miracle we would win, or at least get out alive. Every time a Noble team member died it was a punch to the gut. A solemn reminder that the end was near. I really thought at least Noble 6 would make it out. But once he said to Cpt Keyes “Negative Sir. I have a gun.” I knew it was just his way of saying good bye.
I was going to mention that too, but odds are he was just fucking with Noble Team and just wanted to go AWOL. Which is why he intentionally misses the buttons, chucks 6 out the airlock, and then jumps out himself whenever he's sure 6 can't see him, making sure to hit the timer before he clipped through the floor. It was a weird conversation later in 6's cave.
It’s really strange how the cutscenes jump around all over the place. I get that they will unload complex lighting and assets when they aren’t in frame but the ways the models move is quite bizarre sometimes. I don’t know how they managed to get such incredible cutscenes out of it.
Bungie's cutscene work went from being very simple in Halo CE to being feature-film tier in Reach... so in the latter, the cutscenes do look rather jank when the camera isn't where it's supposed to be.
Take into consideration that we’re watching a cutscene OUTSIDE of the intentional, scripted camera. Instead we’re watching from inside the actual 3D space the cutscene takes place inside of. We’re seeing everything behind the curtain of what’s scripted for us to see. Literally like watching a movie vs being on the set and watching the movie be made.
Hearing the snipers needle round break and kats voice cutting off, plus the fact her helmet split into two from the middle is sad. Seeing noble team suppress fire and recover her body till June looking at her before it fades. Halo will always be my favorite character/ game development ever created
So now we finally know what the elite in 6’s death cutscene was, it wasn’t an Arbiter, it was the same field-Marshall that escaped during the first level, which is honestly pretty haunting in my opinion.
kat's death regardless of what perspective will always be one of the most dramatic and saddest deaths in the Halo franchise due to how sudden and unexpected it was.

This is by far my favorite halo game. Each noble team member dies by how they lived. Cat was the brains and she got shot in the head. Carter was the captain and he went down with his ship. Jorge died in something bigger than himself. Emile died close combat, and noble 6 died the lone wolf.
Super underrated comment. Thank you for saying this cause I never realized that.

I feel like Bungie added him to imply that the field marshal that was fought at the ship yard, didn’t die. Making him the final cause for most of Noble teams deaths. Truly interesting.

Idk way he dident try to move out of the way of the elites and get back up I know we know that he could have if he tried but nope way noble way
I just want to point out how deadly Noble 6 is during his last stand.
Jorge’s, Emile’s, and 6’s were my favorite. If it were a little less shaky it would’ve been great for a cinematic.

I miss NOBLE team :( My Heroes

I love how in 6's there are just a bunch of plasma rifles floating and shooting him while the elites stand there waiting to come attack
That is probably a glitch
Why did Jorge decide to carry Six and toss him?? Six looks like a little kitten compared to how big Jorge is lmao
I think it was to give Six the extra velocity in space so he could descend to Reach quickly (relatively speaking).

Sad to say most head hunters have already died by the time reach fail, leaving master chief and a few others as the last head hunters.
