Fun fact: if you stare at Carter for too long, he'll say "your file mentioned this." Which means that noble 6 canonically stares at people for uncomfortable amounts of time.
The fact that 6 barely talks at all and is labelled as a hyper-lethal vector may mean that he developed social anxiety since he is not like most other Spartans
I never really stopped to think about the fact that the last shot in the ending cutscene is dated during 2589; that's 37 years after the end of the Human-Covenant war. Six's helmet remained there for nearly four decades and even then, no one was around to recognize his bravery: those who did had long since died and passed into forgotten history along with him.
I'd like to think when they find it they will be able to get some information off the helmet and trace it back to 6 and hopfully his story will be declassified by them so people know of his service.
@@speltcaster3186 I like to think Master Chief himself finds the helmet as well as a trail of thousands of Covenant corpses leading to it before they find out who the Spartan-III was and what he did for them.

Strangely, the .50 caliber machine guns in Halo: Reach have oddly proportioned parts and lack ejection ports.
@@connorbernier7689 No. You are far too close to the Scythe AA guns for there to be ANY delay between the weapon firing and the sound reaching you. In real-life, there is only a delay between the rounds hitting the target and the sound reaching the target when the 20mm or 30mm cannon is firing from over a mile away.
Speaking of sound, REACH actually has a sound traveling feature; loud sounds like gunfire or explosions have a delay before being heard when far away. This is most noticeable on Forge World, which is quiet and large enough to consistently observe. Try throwing a grenade in forge mode and quickly move away, or have a friend fire a scorpion from a distance. The sound will be delayed!
The reason there is 14 total dead Spartans is because when halo 2 was being removed from Xbox there were 14 people left who wanted to stay and play the game for as long as they could, eventually they were all booted offline, their Xbox’s had to reset due to overheating etc. they were all given access to play halo reach by 343 before it was released in the end they were all nicknamed the Noble 14.
A few cool details not mentioned: - In the first mission, you can kill a skirmisher that jumps from the roof of the building with the dead troopers and civilians onto a nearby cliff. After killing the skirmisher before it can flee, members of Noble Team will compliment you on your kill without having seen it. - The drop pods deployed from the corvette in space can be destroyed. - The mandibles of EVA elites will clip through their helmets after they are killed. - The shields on AA shade turrets have the firing handles clipping through them, technically making them impossible to fire at all. - This is a minor oversight by the devs but I felt like mentioning it. The tracks of the scorpion main battle tank lack any visible drive sprocket, which raising the question of how it's able to even move. On a related note, who else hopes the elites who killed Noble Six died soon afterwards?
The elites that “killed” noble 6 did indeed die after noble 6 got up and killed them and then was rescued by unsc and became an assassin again, it’s not a theory, this is canon in my eyes
Just FYI, the "forerunner symbols" are actually a form of shotcode designation that Reach's settlers incorporated into their aesthetic from early colony ships and equipment. ☺️
Additional detail concerning number 96 (16:27) the screen that shows members of Noble team s MIA shows, in order, Jorge (MIA), Kat (MIA) , and Carter. This is the order in which they die, and foreshadows that Carter is the next to go.
In the last area on "The Package", There are icy footprints somewhere near the elevator you came from. What's odd about these footprints is that they're several times larger than that of a spartan's. and the tracks vanish into a splash of frost, very odd.
61 was really interesting, I always thought that the fleet arrived in retaliation for destroying The Long Night of Solace. But actually now that I think about hyper space jumps aren’t instant, getting to Delta Halo took like 2 weeks. Anyways, great video!
Well the fleet arrived mere seconds after the Long Night of Solace was destroyed. I know Halsey called the Covenant efficient in her ending monologue, but literally no one can be that efficient, especially keeping in mind that hyper space jumps are quite lengthy, like you said
Another minor detail - while Elite's seem to have some kind of black bodysuit underneath their metal armour plates, the actual soles of their feet are bare and you can see their grey skin (you can even see the edge of the body suit at the edges of the sole), although this is only really possible to notice once they are dead. Also, while it looks like Elite Rangers are wearing gloves as part of a hermetic EVA suit since they have those white bits on their hands, they actually aren't wearing any - if you look closely at their hands, you can see they just have white plates on top of regular elite skin hands, it's just the white-dark contrast makes it look like a glove. I guess this was done to save modelling time as it's really unlikely to be noticed unless you look very closely.
Fun Fact: 11:41 The "AMX-42" on Falcons and Pelicans (if it's like real military aviation designations) should mean those specific planes were attached/ belong to the UNSC's 42nd maintenance group
Those forerunner symbols that you mention in Winter Contingency are actually symbols seen on Doors in the Marathon series. They also double as a way to represent the way settlements are built on Reach, in a round manner.
16:47 The cutscene for the level says that the evac point is in a wrecking yard. I think all the ships you see there are ships that were either too old or badly damaged for further use and were parked there to be stripped of anything useful. I think they've been there a long time.
and the level is called boneyard in firefight. and in the firefight level, the ship is actually admiral cole's either first or second ship from when the insurrection was going on. admiral cole being the one to get the "cole protocol" started and all. he's also considered dead because of having fired a bunch of shivas into a red dwarf if i remember right, to stop a fleet of covenant, and he had a ship in tow, but as he fired, oni thinks he open a jump gate to escape, and that the ship in tow was destroyed.
@@justincooper5189 The ship in boneyard is actually supposed to be the Commonwealth. The ship that delivers the Spartan 2s and Halsey to a testing facility to get Mjolnir in The Fall of Reach
Man, what if we could go back to Reach at 2589 and see the decomposed bodies of the Covenant, specifically those dead Elites, and Six. That would be freaking awesome.
Another great video! At 8:17 the BXR reference is a nice catch. I’m not sure if this was also purposefully done, but the logo of the 3 colored squares matches the colors of the face buttons on an Xbox controller- blue for X, yellow for Y, and red for B. Edit: I randomly found a similar symbol in the 2014 WWII film “Fury,” on Brad Pitt’s jacket he has a patch for his tank battalion with the same color placement. There is also a similar symbol used today to denote chemical flammability but there is a white square at the bottom and the colors are in a different order. BASICALLY that little detail is not a purposeful easter egg, rather a fun coincidence lol but I did learn something today so there’s a win.
The patch on Fury isn't the colours of his battalion, but the division. ALL US Army armoured divisions have the blue-yellow-red combo in WW2 (and I think that tradition still keeps to this day, but I might be wrong, I know at least some of those divisions still exist) It is a bit of a stretch to say the BXR logo is the same as the armoured division logos though; I think it is just a coincidence of the colours being loosely in the same positions to each other. The actual shape of the logos are very different.
@@socracle2774 Thanks for that clarification! And yeah it might not be the same logo, but I found it interesting that other similar logos like it exist which led me to believe that the 3 squares are not meant to really correlate to an Xbox controller’s face buttons, rather it is just a coincidence and that it’s following a similar scheme to other logos used in both industrial and military institutions.
Another thing is when you get there playing reach as part of the mcc (you have to buy it like a dlc) it even gives you an achievement called ‘mind the skill gap’
6:24 A tip to the forklift glitch is to move the forklift's side close enough to the gate so that your character would clip through the gate if you were to exit in the direction of the gate, but not so close that the game will force you to exit the other way. It might take a few tries.
8:49 I once managed to Hijack the Wraith on that Beach and get it all the way up to the Entrance of the Base and spent a while fighting those Endless Dropship Waves I of course died alot and had to do it again but my Record was somewhere around 10500 Points on the XBox 360 or 15000 Points
Won't lie some of these things being pointed out are pretty obvious for someone who's been playing since the game came out, but either way man keep it up your brute videos helped me take my mind off of some stressful stuff at my first shore command.
Alot of it is pretty noticable. Like Emiles shields, Jorge throwing a flare. But I did not know you could blow up the guns from outside. That's a neat thing that I'm going to try.
@@specialoperatorlolbit8671 you never know what people know about the game. I knew about shooting the guns since like... my second playtheough. I got into one of those mini Wraith tank things and just kept shooting. Eventually it just started burning and then blew up. It makes those sections so much easier in Legendary. You can do the same with the Scorpion tank when you return to Castle Base, again making it easier on harder difficulties.
@@snodog00 i found that out because Kat is actually capable if shooting the AA gun. At first i thought she's even more faulty at shooting than driving but then it blew up🤣
I love your "117 Things You May Have Missed" series man. Maybe in the future you could revisit some of these games and do a "117 More Things You May Have Missed"?
You taught me a few things, but 6's fight didnt end at that energy dagger. Cannonically he fought for 7 hours and the covenant ended up glassing the whole area he was in just to stop him. They also picked 7 hours because at the time that was the record for longest lone wolf mission
i've tried to recreate it so many times, but, on the mission where you first get the detonator and it's you and kat, i was about to get hit by a revenant and kat, with subtitles on, yelled out "Dillon watch out!" this was back around when reach first came out
I am so thrilled that he notes most of the UNSC troops you fight alongside are army troopers and the marines only appear towards the end when fighting on the landing pad at the P.O.A
I was ready for bro to get into the symbolism of 14 Spartans falling, that with even double the strength they ultimately stood no chance at survival But then he hit me with "since 7 times 2 is 14" 😂
Fun little facts for number 56 and 57. If you are fast enough when assaulting the Covenant Corvette, you can actually fly under it and destroy most of the docked Banshee before they deploy. This makes taking out the Corvette's engines and escorts a bit easier on harder difficulties since there are less enemy ships flying about. And as you can shoot the Banshee before they are deployed, you can also shoot and destroy the insertion pods that have been released, though I don't think there are any benefits for doing so other than it's just another way the game's setting reacts to the player's actions. Another fun fact: When storming the Corvette's bridge, if you are both fast and stealthy enough (choosing the right targets in order) you can actually clear the entire bridge without having to fire a single shot and without alerting any of the enemies. It is a little tricky because there are one or two Spec-Ops Elites that walk the bridge and will alert the others and cloak when they spot you. They also have a habit of walking near a few Grunts that may also see you. Still, if timed right, it is a fun little challenge to give yourself to see if you can clear the bridge without alerting the enemy. #113 is actually a pretty good tactic for beating that segment on Solo Legendary. More often than not, you will die a few times during this segment. But you can make the ending moment much easier by actually getting out of the cannon and hiding behind it until Keye's tells you that the Cruiser is in range and to shoot it now. Then just hop back in the cannon and fire the final shot.
6 is not (technically) a forerunner symbol. It's a marathon easter egg. That symbol shows up in the doors of the Marathon throughout the game. 52. Idk if this counts but you missed the part where you can (if you EMP) get out of the map and fly a seraph. Another thing most people don't pick up on. During the cutscene where the fleet shows up, you can hear Johnson over the coms say "yeah we're picking up Anomalies too."
Carter in winter contingency alone saves Kat and Six from energy sword attacks, and (debatably) Emile by stopping him from pursuing the field marshall (assuming you believe the theory that pursuing the field marshall would have lead Emile into an ambush resulting in his death). Whether you believe the last mention was the right move or not, man really was about keeping the team alive.
Dang, I've played through Reach's campaign quite a few times since the game's launch back in the day, and I've missed so many of those Elite bobs! That blew my mind! The binary easter eggs are pretty cool too! Also, lots of these 7 and 343 references went straight over my head lol. The blood type marker on the troopers' uniforms is a nice touch. And it's pretty badass that it's the same Field Marshall throughout the campaign. I love that kind of thing where there are parts of the story that go on behind your back, without you realizing. I actually did notice Emile's knife protruding from the elite's neck. Another badass touch. In summation, I learned some cool stuff about one of my favorite games today. Thanks, EBR.
If you kill the B.O.B's they will give you a shit ton of xp depending on difficulty of course so I always tried to find them so I could unlock armor pieces faster
I feel like a lot of these details are why 343’s games often don’t feel quite the same. Bungie had such attention to detail that you subconsciously feel immersed in the environment even after playing dozens of times. For example, the corvette switching targets to sword base is such a minor detail that 343 probably wouldn’t have even bothered with. Not that I despise or even dislike 343, but I wish they’d put their whole heart into Halo like Bungie did.
16:53 it’s a ship scrapping yard , it’s where they take old outdated ships for deconstruction to build newer upgraded versions of them like the pillar of autumn was a helcion class cruiser and there was a class of ship named the autumn class which looked very familiar to the autumn but was upgrades and the frigate you walk through is actually a ship master Chief and blue team fight on during the first engagement with the covenant I saw it on either a hidden Xperia video or halo canon
I just realised when you mentioned the layout or club herrera is the same as where veronica dare pod crashes well if you have a look at the sinoviet tower and compare it to ivory tower in halo 2 you will notice it's the same layout some things are a bit different but the same
Also 1+1+7=9, as in Anchor 9. And while I can't explain why, I feel like "anchor" could easily be a shorthand way of saying "sum up" in math. I don't know if that was on purpose, but it feels pretty great.
Something that has come up in my head is how the game truly shows how important planet reach was to humanity. It was like a safe haven and losing it was like losing the last safe place for them
I think the forerunner symbol in detail 6 might actually be binary code. When the new Mars rover opened it’s parachute, it was a pattern of binary code that looked similar to that.

@@amog8202 That might be a reference to Halo: CE now that I think about it.
The pelican auto-cannon could use caseless rounds.
15:36 "You can shoot the headgear to reveal it's cute face!"
**EXPLODES**
A few cool details not mentioned:
- In the first mission, you can kill a skirmisher that jumps from the roof of the building with the dead troopers and civilians onto a nearby cliff.
Which mission is the first one on?
The elites that “killed” noble 6 did indeed die after noble 6 got up and killed them and then was rescued by unsc and became an assassin again, it’s not a theory, this is canon in my eyes

Bungie has always had a keen eye for incredibly easy to miss details, as well as some surprisingly detailed textures on character models

Damn is Reach an amazing game, from the score to the story, weapon designs, characters its all just soo perfect.
Man, what if we could go back to Reach at 2589 and see the decomposed bodies of the Covenant, specifically those dead Elites, and Six. That would be freaking awesome.
I knew quite a few of these. And it’s good to see people recognize them. Also, anchor 9 is in the shape of 117
Another great video!
ALL US Army armoured divisions have the blue-yellow-red combo in WW2 (and I think that tradition still keeps to this day, but I might be wrong, I know at least some of those divisions still exist)
It is a bit of a stretch to say the BXR logo is the same as the armoured division logos though; I think it is just a coincidence of the colours being loosely in the same positions to each other.
Sad the “Warthog Turret” automated Turret outside of the Sabre Facility glitch didn’t make it. Really cool.

@@specialoperatorlolbit8671 you never know what people know about the game. I knew about shooting the guns since like... my second playtheough.

I was ready for bro to get into the symbolism of 14 Spartans falling, that with even double the strength they ultimately stood no chance at survival
But then he hit me with "since 7 times 2 is 14" 😂
2:48 wasn't it told that the trooper actually didnt die in this scene? He despawns After that.
5:59 is this a reference to the Don Cheadle film "Traitor"?
"What language do you dream in?"
EBR upload, go view it! The corps ain’t paying us by the hour!
I will always say “Remember Reach.” And “Spartans never die, They're just missing in action."
Fun fact: the turrets on the corvette in long night of solace don’t stop shooting after the elite pilots die
I always thought it was so badass when the giant frigates started bombarding the battlefield
They might have done so with Infinite since a lot of Halo devs came back to help create Infinite.
Thing 118: The penthouse in New Alexandria (the one with the drone ambush) is also based on a halo 2 multiplayer map
Amazing how Bungie adds all these little details in a game of 2010. Unnecessary, but intriguing
