    This is an amazing video, I always struggled with these shots. Could you make a similar breakdown for shots when the cue ball is close to another ball?

    Illuminating! I've seen a few videos, in american pool specifically, where people suggest that cushion shots be played holding your cue *without* the index and middle finger (or even up to the ring finger). Thoughts? From Kassel, Germany!

    4:20. I am wondering if the distances between eyes, hand and cue ball influence how we perceive the center of the cue ball and not the cushion.

    Good video, although I've noticed that you never seem to use the loop bridge, instead you use a "thumb loop bridge," which is very unusual. I was hoping you would talk about that, maybe next time.

    I find alignment of the shot against the cushion very very awkward - everything feels lined up but consistently the cue ball hits the left side of the object ball! Except when striking down when close to the cushion (e.g. screw back), I feel I have to aim to the left of the object ball... I think am hitting centre of ball so no inadvertent side and feels like an aiming/alignment issue but only when an object ball is involved - up down the spots etc is ok!

    • @Breakfromlife
      @Breakfromlife  11 місяців тому

      It’s difficult mostly because it doesn’t look the same I find. Which is mostly because you are closer to the cue ball

  • @dislecsyk991
    @dislecsyk991 11 місяців тому +1

    In most positions against the cushion, I find it easier to put the index finger down the side of the table. It gets it right out of the way so it doesn't interfere with the cue running through, gives a bit of extra stability to the bridging hand, and makes it easier to put my bridging hand in something more like its natural position if it were flat on the table whilst still keeping the cue relatively horizontal.
    I've been doing it without thinking about it for a long time, until somebody at my club pointed out I was doing it, tried it themselves and instantly played better off cushions.
    I've got to say, I've never, EVER used a loop bridge. I can't get the cue to run through smoothly whilst doing it, it just feels totally alien.

    I wanted to know why you grip your cue forward but lots of professionals grip their cue very back at the end

      It's sub conscious. I've done it all my life. I had no idea I was doing it until a snooker player pointed out I use a short cue among the balls when on form. Since then I've noticed it's fairly common. When I mention it, almost invariably, the player had no idea they did it.
