Jurassic Park 3's Spinosaurus and the secret experiments done on Isla Sorna have never had real answers. The mysterious dinosaur cloning from the film have been talked about by fans for years but nothing has really ever explained what was going on. Hopefully Jurassic World: Dominion, Colin Trevorrow, Steven Spielberg or someone in the future can tell us what was really going on in that movie in relation to InGen's List and the amalgam testing.

@@SpinozillaSaurian That's what I said.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooo
The incident on Sorna is clealy the Spinosaurus, and I don't think that the Raptor tribe of the third movie was artificialy created. In fact, the Amalgam Testing is most probably only the movement's name of Wu's conspiration, him with his loyal scientifics supporter (including Vic Hoskin and later Eli Mills). Because all his work since the 1997 movie as the franchise's lore clearly tells us is to create biological weapons. This starts with applying normal animal DNA to dinosaurs and other special genes such as speeding up or modifying creature temperaments, as a first step. To then be mainly the creation of hybrid dinosaurs between extinct species directly with as a bonus if possible the DNA of normal animals and special genes.
In addition, it is very unlikely that there was any extinction, even a slight destabilization of the ecosystem, on Sorna. The reasons are very numerous, but the fact that the illegally cloned dinosaurs (Cotythosaurus, Anky, Cerato) behave normally is an element to be taken into consideration in this perspective (the Corythosaur mixes even with the Parasaurs, the Certo is not bloodthirsty). And at worst, even though the Spino is a war machine with no ulterior motives, I don't think a single specimen screwed up the nature of the island on its own.
Personally, I would personally be more interesting to be interested in knowing why Doctor Wu, initially a promising student in the first film, embarked on such a project for such puerile ends for a person who considers himself a great scientist. . What are his interests, his plans, his motivations, it is not for money, nor to bring anything to the war, only stupidly in the name of science and to know where is what can go? This is indeed an important element that the franchise has never bothered to answer, even to pass over the window by the fan community, and yet really deserves more answer than the Amalgam Testing subject itself!

As much as I hate the rushed production of JP3 (because it could've been so much better, if only they had more time) it really has something positive going for it: it probably created the most amount of cryptic information in the entire jurassic franchise, that's really fun to learn about.
Yea I agree but I actually loved JP3
It might have been the most fun part of the LEGO JW campaign.

@@paulwilliams2024 same man, same.
There’s a short scene idea I have for the In-Gen compound, you know the moment when Billy kicks open the vending machine? Well, after that moment would play out, Grant would look at the sell date on the candy wrapper, which would read: 6/12/01. I don’t like JP3, but if they changed the island to Site C, (or Isla Muerta as some call it), and further hinted at the meddling In-Gen had done, I might consider it a sequel on-par with The Lost World.

To be really honest the JW animated show really did throw away all the theories about Spino being a hybrid
As Doctor Wu admitted the first hybrid wasnt The Spino
It's probably for the best. That theory was causing a lot of arguments for no real reason, so to finally put it to bed is good in my opinion.

This is why the premise of Fallen Kingdom falls apart.
I get that for where Dominion is going, they want Dinosaurs on the Mainland.
But JPIII only proves that they cloned them regardless of whether it was legal or illegal, within film universe lore.
So characters moaning that, "these are the last dinos" and to, "save the dinos", has no stakes. Has no drama because subconsciously, we know they've can always clone them again.
Jurassic World Extinction would have been a way better title
@@spartandelta124 it could be in the next trilogy perhaps after dominion it just becomes 'jurassic' so Jurassic extinction could work
I feel like if they dropped in a line that said like "the UN has decided that cloning of dinosaur are illegal" would have help alot
Isn't Isla sorna still around or was that gone with nublar after fallen kingdom?
The true premise of fallen kingdom is to not have dinosaurs and their clonable dna falling en masse into the wrong hands, the "save the dinos" was a public facade for the media and the naive good guys and that was quickly dropped soon after they arrived on the island.
As for IRL audience, i think it was pretty obvious from the trailers what was really going instead of just "save the dinos cuz they're last"

@@neo-filthyfrank1347 I'm thinking I might change it soon. But still, this is my pfp and I get to choose what I want to do with it.
I think all jp3 new creatures are part of this "amalgam testing" including the raptors and pteranodons, and of course the corythosaurus, ankylosaurus, ceratosaurus and the spinosaur itself.
But when Alan remembers the raptor in his dream before they land it looks like they do in the movie. So I think they were just obviously trying to update their look for a newer audience and act like they’ve always looked like that.
Or maybe at least that all the raptors previously seen were female
If the raptor designs weren't a retcon, and if JP3 gave us the subplot of the "amalgam testing" or put more emphasis then I think JP3 might have been looked upon more favorably by fans
I don’t believe Simon masrani knew. Judging by his reaction to indominus rex
I think the Amalgam Testing was actually a secret BioSyn Project made by Dr. Henry Wu and Lewis Dodgson
@@WhyTho525 How do you know?
@@AllosaurusJP3
I don't know, it's just a gut feeling a JP Conspiracy Theory of mine.
@@WhyTho525 I kinda like that theory! Makes the company so much more involved in the overal plot of the movies!
@@AllosaurusJP3
Indeed and for some reason I am 95% sure that BioSyn will be revealed as the true masterminds behind the Indominus Rex, and they secretly funded Eli Mills' auction plans and that Ken Wheatley collected dinosaur teeth so in case the plan goes wrong, Wheatley could give them the teeth and use the teeth to BioSyn to clone Dinosaurs.
Also perhaps the Spinosaurus was the prototype version of the Indominus Rex which Dodgson wanted to destroy Jurassic World.
That sponsored ad was so long I forgot what I was watching and almost closed out lol
I started tapping to skip ahead and I was surprised how far the red progress bar kept going and the ad part still going on
There are so many stories that could be told once Dominion is out. A Doctor Wu focused story could have a lot of drama, action and suspense, especially when it comes to JP3 lore
With all respect man, I think your emphasis on “9 months” being such a long experiment period seems backwards … 9 months is an incredibly short time for biological experiments as complex as “mixing” dinosaurs like the amalgam name suggests. If anything, 9 months suggests that it wasn’t working and they gave up before wasting further time, staff, and resources on the concept.
I work with living raptors and everything you said is on point. I mean in my tests for correlation between intelligence and beak density, I'm almost five years in and my error bars have not gone down by much.
I totally agree!
True
We NEED the Spinosaurus back in the franchise
💯💯💯
Hell ya
T-Rex fans do be raging then. But not of they do a rematch and Rexy win!
If for no other reason than to repair the atrocity that is JP3. They could have a battle between the original Rexy and Gigonatasaurus. Have Spino ambush Rexy during the fight, then Rexy could decapitate her in a single bite in a scene lasting about 2.5 seconds. To return a little realism to the franchise.
@@LARGO125 jp3 spinosaurus needs to return but no rematch.
I always imagined that the amalgam was them all living together in an independent ecosystem and allowed to develop naturally for asset collection. This is a great video with a lot of new info I didn’t know.
Since we know for sure it wasn't the Spinosaurus, it is a wonder what the "accident" was...
Probably the quilled Velociraptors? Something that didn't explicitly go right, but didn't go too wrong either. Especially since he used that for later projects with the Scorpius Rex, Indominous Rex and Indoraptor.
@@TribbleArtCreations yes the Dilophoraptors were the mistake since real raptors dont have crests on their skulls
@@TheAlanWilcox Headcanon lol get out of here
We don't know it wasn't the Spino. An accident just implies the Spino wasn't outright designed as a hybrid the way Indominus was. Whatever gene-splicing they did to create it obviously went badly wrong and it turned out to be a monster
@@biscuitcase83 We do know. The person who wrote it, Jack Ewins, confirmed the Spinosaurus was not the accident. He also said the Spinosaurus was not a hybrid, so whatever they did to it, it was just more severe than the standard InGen creation process, but nothing extra with DNA.
Once again we're talking about the mystery of site B. We'll, the mystery behind jp3 in general
I think learning about the amalgam testing would be perfect for Camp Cretaceous. They've spent a lot of time talking about hybrids, so it would be the logical next step. Especially if they can then feed the revelations back into what's happening in Dominion.
Information on the Amalgam testing, the Spinosaurus' incubation container, the gene splicing and the Mosasaurus tank, if those had been included in the final version of the film, JP III could have been more successful, even more so than it's predecessor, The Lost World, in my opinion
5:18, either the Spinosaurus or the Velociraptor were the "gene splicing accidents" he had mentioned.
It still leaves room for the scorpius beign the first "intentional" hybrid and/or for the spino to be a transitioning research stage where it dosen't have other dinosaurs in it yet, but where modern day animal DNA wasn't merely used as bare necessity to fill the gaps but to intentionally enanche the animal, kinda like what we do in the JW evolution games.
@@Dour888
I think it implies that the gene-splicing experiments weren't intended to create hybrids as such, but simply to "perfect" the cloning techniques. Perhaps they used the DNA of other dinosaurs to fill in the gaps and ended up with a lot more than they bargained for.
Then years later, Wu resurrects the idea of using the DNA of other dinosaurs to deliberately create a true hybrid
@@biscuitcase83 that too.
Oh god the sponsor. I never thought I would see this day
You and me bro, we didn’t see it coming..
I'm kinda sad he's doing Raid ads. Never thought he would do it
Honestly since JP3 seems to be a combination of unused material from the JP and LW books, the amalgam project could have been a reference to the mutant dinosaurs in the LW book but likely had to do with the splicing of various animal genes into the broken existing dinosaur DNA, it’s already known they used incorrect assumptions about dinosaurs to fill in the gaps in the damaged genetic code they extracted from amber, resulting in the gender changing phenomenon from the frog DNA in JP, it’s likely that Henry Wu knowing this was experimenting with spilling other types of animal DNA in order to make more “accurate” dinosaurs based on new scientific evidence or more likely more “marketable” dinosaurs for Jurassic world, as evidenced by the mosasaur in JW being far larger than its real world counterpart, likely being spliced with whale DNA for a more impressive size making it a better attraction. Honestly after the I-Raptor, I think a potential direction the franchise may go is that Henry may just drop the pretense of making “dinosaurs” and might start crafting his own organisms from scratch to fulfill the military market for the creatures, possibly even using the excuse of needing to create controllable super predators to take out the escaped dinosaurs from the end of JW2
All I want is a film (or even a short film) detailing the Amalgam testing, as a sort of JP3 prologue.
Klayton: (covers Raid: Shadow Legends)
Me: I was not expecting that. But I was expecting not to expect something so it doesn’t count.
The raptors in Jurassic world are known to have different strains of animals, I think echo, top of my head, has more snake DNA in her.
Is it possible they were merely testing and splicing for the “Indo” projects?
As well more efficient immune systems for the dinosaurs.
Think about it. Sorna was essentially a perfect place to observe the subjects as they were in a mixed living eco system.
Whereas in Jurassic Park, most were contained to their own species.
Yes their was a couple of Herbivore groups.
But they were not exposed to carnivores etc
And some were still not fully complete in the DNA structures.
As someone who has studied animal bio sciences. It seems this was the PERFECT opportunity to observe and test things.
In regards to the Spino being so young etc
The timing and everything.
Again, this was an opportunity to perhaps release and observe how it could change the ecosystem.
And perhaps serve a base template for the I Rex.
I can hear you say “Dude! I Rex. It was a T Rex base construct ” blah blah
But look an the uncanny base structure of it.
Perhaps they originally wanted to use the Spino as it’s main structure…?
They had mastered the T Rex and wanted something different.
Billy from Jurassic Park III: That was on Isla Nublar, This is Isla Sorna.
Amanda: This is how you make dinosaurs
Alan Grant: No, This is how you play God
Great and Interesting Question of something mysterious in Jurassic Park III and great points.

I personally think dr Henry Wu had something to do with the illegal cloning
How come you never did a full in-depth video on The Velocicoaster at Islands of Adventure?
I unfortunately haven’t been yet. The plan was to go with my friend Ivan Ortega but I had surgery
@@KlaytonFioriti hope you are feeling better from surgery!! ☺️
Another "Ortega"! You know - because of Brooklyn.
@@goteamslugs I know right the irony
@@TMK411 Yep! I doubt these two Ortega's are related though. :)
The writers could explain this in Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Season 4 or 5.
here’s what i think the amalgam testing was:
Henry Wu wanted to make dinosaurs without having to have their DNA at all, as well as trying to recreate feathers. They didn’t have DNA or Ceratosaurs and Spinosaurus, so for both he used Carnotarus for Ceratosaurs, and Baryonyx for Spinosaurus. This is why the Ceratosaurs is larger than it actually was in real life, and why the Spinosaurus looks different and is stronger than it’s real life counterpart. As for the Raptors and aggressive/different looking Pteranodons, they were created while trying to recreate feathers. The raptors resulted in quills and heightened intelligence, and the Pteranodons resulted in aggression and teeth. This could be why these particular Pteranodons were caged and not free like the ones seen in The Lost World. Wu could’ve either cloned these animals for the new, future park, or to see what he was capable of, or what was possible.
If there was dinosaur gene mixing then it would be counted as a hybrid, and Wu himself said the first attempt at this was the Scorpios.
@@DarthPyrusTheVirus all dinosaurs have something added to their code, in my case with the Spino and Ceratosaurs, Wu was replicating real dinosaurs, with hybrids, he created things that never existed
Wasn't expecting Klayton to be sponsored by RAID Shadow Legends
Amalgam testing is reminiscent of the "Chaos Effect" toy line that came after the main Lost World line. With most of the dino part of the line being combinations of dinos.
In theory Scorpius Rex could have still been the first (per Camp Cretaceous), but I think it would be great having the Chaos Effect hybrids possibly being on the island. Maybe they had a shorter lifespan than most and didn't survive thru the tests.
Goddammit, Klayton...Raid Shadow Legends got you too?😂😂
LOL apparently so
Got em like the Spino got Cooper. Fun theory i recently heard from Shadows (litteral channel name) was there was an actual family of spinos and he killed the baby one resulting in the parent(s) going after them the whole movie. Happy 20th birthday my favorite little Isla Sorna Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus 😊😊
I took the gene splicing to mean that the dinosaurs were spliced with different animal dna than in Jurassic Park 1. In Jurassic World, Wu mentions that the Indominus Rex has some of its missing sequences filled with snakes and cuddle fish, instead of just frogs. Maybe the Jurassic Park 3 dinosaurs have snake dna amalgamated.

@@dylnc9 Yeah if it was a longer video, like 20 minutes long, then I wouldn't mind a 2 minute ad.
Bit late to the party but my theory based off of this information, and going off what was said in Fallen Kingdom, is that the testing was probably two fold. The first was of course genetic in nature, but I would guess that the second part was phycological. In Fallen Kingdom they are trying to get the Indo-Raptor to exhibit certain traits so clearly controlling how the animals behaved has been something InGen would have been working on for a long time. After all you don't want a hyper aggressive animal in a park setting (which they do anyway). So to me it stands to reason that the first stage of testing was a genetic amalgamation with the second part, the nine months mentioned, was probably phycological. Just my 2 cents
In my opinion, every dinosaur is a hybrid. Things like E750, Indominus and Indoraptor are super hybrids
Ah so someone also have Mutual Thoughts. I strongly agree because most or all of these Dinosaurs from InGen do have Frog DNA and other aspects to look a bit more different.

Man the way you did the thumbnail, I thought this was an upload from one of my Creepypasta narrators haha got all excited for a Dino themed story. Not that I wasn’t equally as hyped for another brilliant Klayton upload 👍😎
I think the “illegally” cloned dinosaurs (corythosaurus, ceratosaurus, ankylosaurus, and spinosaurus) were bred during the construction of Jurassic park and I think the velociraptors were the ones experimented. Or they were born with quills as a genetic mutation
Jurassic Park 3 needs to be investigated more,as there so much to investigate, and hopefully the make a Tv seris or a movie about the behind the scenes during 2000 when Dr.Wu went to Isle Sorna
He went to Sorna: an island full of predators and filled with every sort of dangers. In only 9 months in this situation he with only few scientists created new dinosaurs in a devastated lab, full with insects, plants and probably snakes. Chapeau
@@longobardo9871 Now that would be a story I will like to see on Tv or in the Movies.
Great videos man keep it up
Great video! Also Congrats on the sponsorship!
I remember reading somewhere that the raptors were evolving like that. I believe. they explainedit as they been there for so long that they were starting to revert to a more pure genome that's why the quills were present and why their eyes had circular pupils
The Pteranodons have the wingspan of a Quetzalcoatlus and teeth
The Ceratosaurus is very large and has a very Tyrannosaurus-like skull and was actually based on a T rex model
The Velociraptors are hyper intelligent and have quills like the Indominus rex, and the males have a stripe like Blue or Delta
The Spinosaurus behaves like the Indominus rex more so than the other dinosaurs and is proportioned more like Baryonyx or Suchomimus
Nodding to these previous design choices in the world series and retroactively claiming them to be part of planning for Jurassic World and hybrid testing is pretty smart
honestly this is what i would use as the explanation. the tests would be twofold. first, to verify to the new owners that the JP cloning process does still work. and to demonstrate that the genesplicing techniques used to produce the dino's (mixing recovered DNA with that of modern animals to fill in gaps) could also be applied to DNA from other dino's to produce hybrid creatures with traits not found in the originals. they cloned them, incubated batchs of various species, and the animals that survived to hatching were kept and studied for 9 months to verify that the mixed genetics didn't have major developmental flaws. after 9 months the animals grew too large (or in the case of the raptors, too aggressive) to be contained and were thus allowed to escape into the ecosystem of Sorna.
Seems like an explanation as to why the Spinosaurus is so fixated on killing humans.

I like to think I afford some respect to each film in the original trilogy. I believe the first movie to be the best made, overall. The Lost World is my own personal favorite and one I see as being the most quotable, whether it's Roland's rant in the car or Malcolm saying "You know I beg people to listen to me. I use plain, simple English. I don't have any accent that I'm aware of", among others, that film has the best lines for me, personally. With the third, I see it as holding the greatest mystery, that being the amalgam testing. Always good to see videos exploring this. Great video, Klayton.
Oh, HELLO!! Another good video! This makes my day even better.

isn't it coming out june next year? so i wouldn't be surprised if it's this december, at least for a teaser trailer, but that's probably at the earliest i can think of
Maybe Wu tried to blend different species of animals with the dinosaur gene, but it seems that the test was a failure, for the feather part I can see that being Wu’s failure, attempting to replicate dinosaur feather growth from the past. Wu most likely carried tons even more projects he has in mind over to Jurassic World and beyond.
When Klayton talks about Jurassic Park 3 I click so fast. Great video as always!

5giganotosaurus(im sad that he killed t rex but still cool dinosaur)
6carnotaurus(very underrated)
7allosaurus(too iconic to be not on this)
8troodon(honestly pretty underrated)
9brachiosaurus(very inconic)
10 parasolophus(kinda iconic)
Sidenote:Giganotosaurus and Charcharodontosaurus are very simular so Charcharodontosaurus whould be also 5 so their tied
When a T rex picks its top ten favorite dinos, are they its top ten favorite challengers? ;)

Good job on getting a sponsorship Klayton :]
This was a great video on The Amalgan Testing, the experiment we never got to see in the JP3,also hope y'all are having a great day,.
This is my first ever video I’ve watched from you and I already had to skip four minutes just to get passed the intro and sponsor. Not complaining or hating, just letting you know it doesn’t look good. However I do like the fact that you touch upon a rarely discussed topic and you’re very concise about it.
oo a sponsor whats it gonna b... raid.... ok then
BILLY Obviously a superpredator. Suchimimus. that snout.
GRANT They never got that big.
BILLY Baryonyx?
GRANT Not with that sail. Spinosaurus Aegypticus.
From the beginnging on it was unclear what it actually is. A Suchimimus, a Baryonyx or a Spino? All of them perhaps?
How the fuck did Billy even think that the Baryonyx was bigger than Suchomimus?
@@WhyTho525 No clue 🤷🏻♂️😂
@@DerFinder
I think Billy was just in the University mainly for the girls and being Grant's student was just for popularity boost as Alan Grant is one of the best in the field of paleontology.
@@WhyTho525 lol
I really hope we get more info on this secretive system
This explains so much of the Spino's behavior in JPIII- namely, the reason why he was so hell-bent on hunting the humans down (despite them not presenting much of a threat or meal-potential). The Spino was probably badly mistreated due to the secrecy and desperation of the illegal projects (with a lack of knowledgeable personnel and funding probably making its care more focused on sheer results rather than the creature's comfort and needs, such as ample anesthetics during exams/surgeries). So when the humans landed on the island in JPII, closer to the T. Rex couple's territory; the Spino probably didn't find them to be much of a threat and ignored them. But when a massive, noisy plane landed right in his territory... he probably thought the nightmare was about to start all over again.
Nice, 30% of the video is litterally just another cringe raid advetisment.
yeah that was extremely cringe
@@bullymaguire9987 It's kind of funny how Klayton created a channel out of literally nothing. Like "some director said something for five seconds let me pad this out for as painfully long as I possibly can for that ad revenue"
Who wants the spinosaurus back
Great theory on the amalgam testing Hopefully we get more answers and explanation on this in dominion.
The Spinosaurus should really return in Jurassic World Dominion.
I wish we've got paleoaccurate Spino...
@@CinemaSans all dinosaurs in Jurassic franchise are inaccurate including the trexes, if they were accurate then they would all look different
@@Black_Wolf1357 I know that
I hope to one day see the spino back in a movie, though not in Dominion, that movie will already be stuffed to the gills as is. Especially since the gigantosaurus is gonna be that movie's big bad dino. Maybe a spinoff movie from the main series would be a better way to bring it back in a movie format, just my two cents about one of my favorite dinos from the series and how I think it would be worked best back into the movie series
I like to think that the Spinosaurus had a bit of monitor lizard DNA spliced into it since monitor lizards such as the Komodo Dragon have specialized scales with bone inside them that help them take blows in fights. Maybe that’s why the Spino didn’t get any long term or serious injuries from the Tyrannosaurus. Great video Klayton.
Get this man to 300k now!
No one deserves a like when they’re promoting raid shadow legends.
Intresting experiment indeed, kinda wish we got to see more of the spinos
There was only one spino
Love it when Klayton uploads ❤️❤️
Love when a third of the video is an ad
I have not even Wachtel the video yet but I already gave it a like :D
You changed the thumbnail and I got confused 🤣
I really liked the video in between the advert👌🏼
Awesome Vid
It would be really cool if the kids do crash on Sorna, and they end up uncovering the mystery of those experiments. Perhaps they might find out that Wu had continued testing on Sorna without InGen... maybe with a rival.
God the loading acreen from the Jurassic Park PSone game gave me chills. I played it a lot as a kid. Especially when I was sick at home.
"What kind of experimenting was being done to these animals as part of their 'Amalgam Testing'?"
If we're going to assume the worst and most morally dubious of possibilities, I'm going to guess that we're not talking about the equivalent of putting makeup on rabbits and guinea pigs.
Although, background on Fallen Kingdom details the handlers/guards of the Indoraptor engaging in regular physical abuse of the animal as it grew up.
These videos are not just entertaining, they cure boredom!
love the new thumbnail!
Might not get any attention but damn it I had an interesting thought! So amalgam is a mixture but in technicality and in lore, these dinos are not actual hybrids. So here is my proposal. The amalgam testing is an experiment that would of allowed Dino dna that there would be less of, and mixing that with the abundant Dino dna that is similar to allow more dinosaurs to be made, but instead of filling it in with frog dna, it’s other Dino dna. So the spino might of had a little bit of its DNA found but it’s too small that this experiment would of used other similar creatures dna to fill in the gaps. Essentially making it possible to make more dinosaurs without needing this method with the amber.

We need a film or series about all this to explain more in detail. They could even use the stuff that was cut from jp3.
