  • This is the overview of the Denon AVR-S760H main menu. I go over speaker configuration and pretty much the entire main menu. I think Denon put a feature packed receiver here that should give most folks a great home theater experience.

    Thank you for your informative video @Upscaled. I just bought the Denon AVR X2000AV Receiver 7.1 in good used condition and had no idea how to set it all up. My subwoofer wasn't working and now I can see why thanks to your stream. So now I must plug my amp into my tv!

    Thanks for the overview. I have to say that I am glad that I got rid of my Pioneer Elite avrs and speakers and switched to two HomePods. I found all of the settings very confusing, neighbours always complained, wife hated all the speakers; and though, I might not “shake the roof tiles”, it maintains my family’s harmony.

    I found out you have to set it to 8k if you want to take advantage of 120hrz , vrr, and any earc functions. Regardless if it’s a 8k device. Wish denon would have made it more clear with on screen expectation of this. At think of purchase there wasn’t a manual.

    Hey my friend I think you set your receiver wrong cause you are robbing performance off of your Subwoofer by setting your front speaker to large . And the LFE crossover must be set to 120 hertz . All your speaker have to be set to small and 80 hertz cross over even if you are using tower so the subwoofer will be doing his job . This is the standard for THX

    Thank you for the video, I watched it during my setup after lightning took out my Yamaha receiver. I've got everything setup but all my sources are playing only through the Front Speakers, Subwoofer and Center channel. None of the back 4 have audio. It displays that multi Channel in 7.1 is connected but I can't hear anything. I heard everything during the setup with the microphone connected when I was moving it around the room to set that up. Confused why I'm not getting anything from the back 4. Any help is appreciated.

    I am still confused about how to get the subwoofer to work properly. Your talking about LFE seemed to indicate that it was really only going to come on for certain effects who CC, I assume would be for movies and TV? - I may have not understood that correctly.
    What I’m trying to figure out is how to get the sub working, particularly for music. Is there a feature somewhere that I’m missing? Any help appreciated. Thanks again!

    • @Upscaled_Reviews
      @Upscaled_Reviews  11 місяців тому +1

      If the sub is set up correctly, it should come on for music as well. The receiver will send any bass under the crossover for the front speakers to the sub. For example, if you have the crossover said to 80 hz for the front speakers, any bass below 80 hz will go to the sub. However, if you have your front speakers set a full range, then nothing will be sent to the sub. You also have to make sure that the receiver is set up with subwoofer on.

    Hi there man, I have a couple more questions.
    1: Is there a way to run test tones on ALL the speakers, including the subwoofer, WITHOUT having to turn the actual TV on? Because at the moment the only way I can run test tones on the AVR-S760H is by pressing the setup button on the remote controller which then brings up the on-screen graphics on my TV. With my older Pioneer receiver, you could play the sample test tones on ALL speakers, plus the subwoofer, via navigating the menu on the actual LED screen located on the front panel of the AVR itself. Is it possible to do the same thing with the Denon AVR-S760H as well?
    2: I don't see a 'dimmer' button on the remote controller for the Denon AVR-S760H, there is a 'dimmer' button on the front panel of the AVR but no designated button on the remote controller. Would using the 'Denon 2016 AVR Remote' app on my Smartphone give me access to a 'dimmer' setting? Also just broadening speaking - Have you tried using the 'Denon 2016 AVR Remote' app? Does it work well for your Denon AVR-S760H?

    • @Upscaled_Reviews
      @Upscaled_Reviews  2 роки тому +2

      You can but you need to navigate the menu through the front panel. It’s easier with the TV on. You can dim the front panel in on screen menu as well. To be honest, I haven’t really used the app. I do everything with the included remote.

    Is there any degradation in audio quality (Atmos) if I connect my 760 thru earc for audio (everything else is connected to my tv)? Basically my 4k player, xbox, etc goes to my TV then my TV passes audio to the AVR. I have a newer 2020+ Sony tv with 2.1 earc.

    • @Upscaled_Reviews
      @Upscaled_Reviews  Рік тому +1

      If you receiver is receiving the Dolby truehd, atmos, dts master audio etc. signals, then there shouldn’t be an issue. If you can’t get anything above regular Dolby digital or dts, then your tv may be falling back to the base codec. I would typically recommend connecting everything to the receiver and then sending one hdmi up to the tv. The only exception would be for gaming. I have a Samsung tv that won’t go into low latency mode when I have the receiver in the mix but it’ll work when connected straight to the tv.

  • @geffryamoussou6626
    @geffryamoussou6626 2 роки тому +7

    Hey my friend I think you have set your AVR the wrong way . The front speaker should be set to small and 80 hertz even if you using tower so the subwoofer will handle the bass from there . Also your LFE crossover is too high it should be set to 120 hertz you don’t want to have voice coming out of your subwoofer . This is THX standard recommendation

    • @Upscaled_Reviews
      @Upscaled_Reviews  2 роки тому +2

      Those speakers can be set to large, per the speaker’s instructions and my measurements. They have built subwoofers and amps to handle deep bass. Most speakers should be set to small though. The LFE crossover in the bass section only handles bass effects from the lfe channel or the .1 channel. You will not have voices coming from that channel. It is best practice to set it to 120hz but there is no harm in setting higher since most if not all of the bass content from that channel comes in at under 120hz. The thing you don’t want to do is setting that lower than 120hz since you may be missing out on bass content from that channel.

    Speaker size does not have to do with actually being large or small, if you set the speaker to LARGE, then they'll be considered full range speakers and all frequencies will attempt to play through them, this will cause distortion and excessive power draw typically. If you set them to small, then they will use a crossover. Example, set front and centers to SMALL, set crossover to 80hz, now anything below 80hz will play through your subwoofer instead of those speakers (there will be a roll off, not a hard stop). This will allow more power to be used for the mids and highs on the speakers, will prevent distortion, prevent over exertion and protect your speakers. It's weird wording but really has nothing to do with speaker size. 98% of the time, if you have a subwoofer, set all speakers to SMALL, and crossover to 80hz. Set subwoofer to LFE (default). You'd only set the speakers to large if they had an actual capable subwoofer, which if you're reading my comment and don't already know how to set it up, they probably don't.

    • @Upscaled_Reviews
      @Upscaled_Reviews  2 роки тому +1

      You would just select the 5.1 option in the menu. You have to just ignore that they’re on the ceiling and treat them like normal speakers. Your setup would not be compatible with Atmos though. You could also do 3.1.2 and use your surround speakers as overhead speakers for atmos. You can try both and see which setup you prefer. After all, it’s all about what you enjoy the most.

      Try plugging in the HDMI cable from the AVR to a different slot on the TV, i.e. HDMI 2. And if the menu still doesn't show, manually switch the source on the TV to the HDMI source that's connected to the AVR i.e. HDMI 2.
