  • This is my Denon AVR-S760H Review. I also go over the receiver's initial set up and go over how to perform the included Audyssey room correction. I also go over the remote control, the front panel, the back panel, HDMI connections with my Xbox Series X, the home theater experience, and give my final impressions. I think Denon put a feature packed receiver here that should give most folks a great home theater experience.

    I ordered from Costco for delivery tomorrow. They've still got the best deal on this unit at $399, new! This one really checks all the boxes for me, upgrading/updating from an Onkyo TX-NR509 I've had for over a decade. It's been problematic with HDMI switching among other things, and it's missing a lot of the features I need like 4K 120hz HDMI. I was looking at numerous other units but the major deciding factor was actually the depth of the unit. Many others I looked into don't fit in my entertainment stand. Pretty excited to get it set up. Thanks for the thorough walkthrough!

    Thanks for the walkthrough on this receiver. For a minute I was considering selling my old Nakamichi AVS3 from about 25 years ago and switching to a BlueSound Powernode Edge, which is just a 2.1 stereo amplifier. But I just noticed that Costco dropped the price to $399, so now Getting the Denon is the obvious choice.

    I just bought this receiver from Costco and am very impressed with it. I am replacing my Pioneer Elite from 2009 as I have upgraded my TV to a Bravia OLED. My initial impressions are that it is very intuitive along with providing a very rich sound environment after room calibration. I would even say that the sound is slightly richer then my Pioneer Elite then the Denon S760.

    Because of it, I've decided to purchase it. I'm replacing an Onkyo TX-NR676. This seems like just enough of an upgrade in all the right ways. I just really need to pass through 4K-120 from my consoles and my attached gaming PC now.

    Great video! I'm looking to replace my Sony STR DH790 which has started to act even weirder than normal. I was originally looking at the Denon - AVR-S970H (currently on sale for $577), vs the Sony - STR-AN1000 (currently on sale for $599), but started seeing recommendations for the s760h. I've currently got an 8 speaker setup (1 center, 2 tower, 2 height, 2 back, 2 subwoofers) in a cozy room hooked up to a 65" Sony Z9D tv. Most tv/movie watching is through roku and xfinity cable, and I do my gaming on the PS5. Is the s970h and an1000 overkill for what I need, and this s760h more than enough for me? Thanks!

    Great video! I just purchased this receiver today. The way my room is set up, I don't have surround speakers, I only have surround back speakers (location wise). So do I treat my back surrounds as "surround" and hook up the atmos the way you did, or should I tell the receiver I have back surrounds, will it give me the option to hook the atmos in via the regular surround terminals? Even if I could do it that way should I? Does the surround and back surround have the same content, or would I be missing something if I opted to use back surround vs regular surround? I tried looking that information up but could find a clear answer on it. Thanks!

    • @Upscaled_Reviews
      @Upscaled_Reviews  2 роки тому +2

      Back surrounds have different content. The vast majority of surround content is 5.1 which consists of traditional surrounds. 7.1 content adds the back surrounds to the mix. I would set them up as surround speakers even though they are situated behind. Not ideal but should be ok. With that receiver, you need to choose either back surrounds or atmos height speakers, like I did in my video.

    GM and thanks for the great video! Appreciate it. I just purchased an s760h and a Samsung QLED Neo 75" TV. I will be installing in a finished home rec-room in our basement. It's been a long time since I've set up an environment like this and I'm excited to put the pieces together. I've a couple of questions. One easy and one more perplexing. 1). Any HDMI 2.1 cable recommendations? 2). Now for the harder question. The room was finished by the prior owner years ago and is wired for 5.1 surround with 2 in-wall rear speakers. I have a set of speakers from paradigm; 4 bookshelf, 1 center channel, and 1 sub-woofer. With the wires in the walls AND the two rear speakers the prior owner installed, I can easily configure a 5.1 arrangement using all but 2 of my bookshelf paradigm speakers. With the 760, I'd like to somehow use those extra speakers for either L/R surround or rear surround. Unfortunately, I don't have an option to run additional wires as the room is finished. And, my wife would have a fit if I tore apart the walls/ceiling to do so. :) Is there an option to place those speakers using some sort of wireless components? I'm thinking something along the lines of a transmitter plugged into the rear of the 760 and two powered receivers placed in an optimal position that I could then wire to the speakers? Are you aware of any possible solutions akin to this idea? Does this even make sense? Or, could I somehow enjoy those speakers configured in a front position even though traditionally they should be placed at the sides/rear of the listener? Would appreciate any thoughts you have?

      @@Upscaled_Reviews yeah, or use E-ARC to HDMI converter. Extract full quality sound from E-ARC port on TV, and send it via standard HDMI to a legacy receiver. Kinda niche product. Can give extra life to legacy receiver, but probably only worth it if you've got some old heavy iron, like a 1600+$$ XT32 reciever, something like an X3400 or X3500, otherwise, just buy a S760H

      Efficiency of your speakers are the determinate factor. 75 wpc is only 2 channels - driving 5 or 7 channels the output drops significantly / 30 to 40 wpc is all you'll get from this receiver. I'd spend extra for the Onkyo TX NR7100. And dont sweat 8K - there's no native 8K data out / maybe in 3+ years. Unless you're a gamer, no need for 4K/120 - streaming 4K max is 60 FPS. My take - 4K/120 hz is no big thing unless using PS5.
      And if your speakers sensitivity is below 88db, this will not make you happy.
      Best out there now in my opinion is the Onkyo RZ50 - 140 wpc. All 8K and 4K support. Not inexpensive - $1499.00
