- In today's true crime documentary, we're covering the case of Cassandra Bjorge and Johnny Rider and analyzing it from an educational legal and psychological perspective.
Never understood why people send their kid they can't physically control to their Grandparents. When they no longer have strength.
Same as people who expect their parents to babysit their children.
It's just cruel. They are tired. Let them visit or ask for it but don't expect them to be your permanent childcare.
I would never even imagine doing that.
Two things:
1. Often times grandparents or other extended family will volunteer to care for these kids. Out of love and wanting to keep the family together.
2. CPS and other social services will push *hard* to keep kids out of the foster care system. They're not in the business of dragging children away from their families entirely unless absolutely necessary.
Because the grandparents raised irresponsible children.
@@MasterofScrutiny That is a good bait comment. You would have got me if the username wasn't so on the nose. GG unlucky bro.
they're probably already conditioned to be able to take advantage of them in other ways, i.e. money, so why not dump the kids they don't bother parenting on their own parents, too.
Parents, if you can’t handle your out of control kid, don’t send them to your elderly parents!! What makes you think they can control, the uncontrollable?! 🤯
Mom was trash too
None of these people should have reproduced. At least Cassie stopped the cycle since she’ll be in prison forever.

Does anyone know why the girl cared so much about them finding out people were there? EWU kept making it seem like there was some big bombshell of a secret that was behind the reason of her lying about having friends over…but once she admitted it, there was no explanation as to why she cared so much about that specifically…so I’m super confused here?? Lol
@@jordancave3089I’m guessing because psychopaths lie just for the sake of it. And she probably didn’t want to implicate others in her own twisted sense of loyalty
@@comeagain....8050 yeah, that’s why I was so confused though. Because the only thing that makes even a little bit of sense if her not wanting her friends to get in trouble but considering how they said she was inviting just about anyone she could, that tells me that even though the people that came were her friends, it’s not like they’re super special to her. Also, they can’t get in trouble for anything since they didn’t even know…but since she’s clearly super naive(or maybe just kind of not smart lol) thinking $1,000 was some crazy amount of money, it makes sense that she doesn’t know that her friends wouldn’t be in trouble. It’s still so weird, man. She seemed incredibly honest about literally everything else.
"it was kinda creepy...she was like scared to die" That is the most ridiculous and cold blooded statement I've ever heard. This is truly mind blowing. It's crazy how someone can have amazing peope willing to take them in and help them, and turn on them to do this.

We love gacha games
That's what I was about to say, she's talking about it like she's talking to a friend about a shopping mall trip!!
Yeah she's got no emotional....awareness. It's scary.
Can't figure out which was a bigger contribution to her being this way: her natural self, or the perpetual neglect she endured her whole life.
Personally, I think the neglect played a bigger part. I don't think anyone was ever kind to that kid in any way that matters...ever. And so that's what she puts back into the world.
All this said, she deserves to be where she is. That is a profoundly dangerous tiny little person right there. She's a threat to society, unfortunately.
That makes me feel bad a little bit. Bc Back in 2012 I was living in Alaska w\mt hubby. He had been stationed there & we drove thru Canada up into AK in 2009. By 2012 my BFF & get hubby were moving back to the lower 48 & they wanted to drive to save $$. They had 4 kids & 2 BIG DOGS! They were huge. 1 was an English Mastiff for clarity. I told my friend it was a BAD idea! I LOVED the drive & we had a blast! But we are more go w\the flow. We didn't plan any part of it & just made a kinda plan we'd drive until evening then stop wherever we were. Too much been happen to mess up the plans &it can be upsetting even for go w\the flow ppl. My friend is NOT 1 of those ppl. I love her to death STILL! But she's a PLANNER! I'm talking down to the tiniest detail & even had a printed agenda. Booked hotels for the whole trip based on where they wanted to be reach day. Loaded up a u haul trailer & had 2 vehicles. Her & the kids in 1 & hubby & the dogs in the other. But she was worried about bears in Canada & had got bear spray. I told her it was unnecessary. She got it anyways. Well on the way the dogs bit into a pan & exploded it all in the car. & the hubby got your experience. My friend called me TRAUMATIZED & crying all their bookings were messed up bc they were delayed & she was a hot mess & hysterically yelling at me that I SAID IT WAS WONDERFUL BEAUTIFUL DRIVE & EXPERIENCE & it's NOT it's the WORST experience of her life! I felt bad but I laughed. I said GIRL! I TOLD U DON'T DO IT!! & I offered u advice the whole way telling u not to book that far in advance! I begged u to get on the plane & be done w\it. In fairness to her I think she probably thought It was just more poor planning on my part & she wouldn't have that problem. I still laugh which is probably unkind of me. At least now she can laugh w\me. But I did feel really bad for the puppies!
I cant wait to finish the video and find out she only got 30 days in jail for a double homicide.

One of the things about this channel that I really like is that they ANNOTATE every spoken word. It's really helpful because there are moments where the dialogue is slurred or garbled to the point where it's indiscernible. Very few other channels go to the trouble of annotating everything and I really appreciate that EWU does.
That’s why we watch true crime…good job EWU For….what is it…ANNOTATING this crime case. Wtf
i’m also so appreciative of their captions, it can be hard for me personally to watch something AND comprehend what’s being said at the same time, so it helps me stay focused and enjoy the content

Cassie acting like $1,000 would last a lifetime. An uncle who would take both of them in for free, grandparents who sent her to China and Disney, and Johnny has a friend like Jake, but it still wasn't good enough.
Yeah nothing is when ur drugged and molested into a psychopath.

These two are just black holes sucking the goodness out of everyone surrounding them.
When I was a kid 20$ would last me weeks but these days I could barely make bills food and cat food for a month with 1k
I think it just speaks to the mental gymnastics someone’s hopped through constantly like this girl seems to do. After a while you become kinda just default to an imagined justification regardless of how irrational something is that you’re doing
Also I don’t claim to be any expert so this is opinion not fact obviously
Jake is such a good friend. He left work because Johnny needed him. It’s just sad that kindness was being abused by a monster.
It's especially horrible that the two had to scar Jake and his family with the gruesome sight of them trying to off themselves in their bathroom, and also deal with the trauma of learning the truth about your lifelong friend's true nature, and causing them to lose their home.

When I picked it up, I saw that it had a severe head injury and its eye was hanging from its socket. Horrified, I frantically started calling every friend with a car I could think of because I didn't have one at the time. I was on a college campus and had no access to a blanket or even a jacket so I wrapped it in paper towels to keep it warm. While I was sitting on a bench frantically calling people for help, the poor thing had a seizure and lost control of its bowels and bladder. I kept trying. That's the name of the charge.
42:36 When you zoomed in on her face, my heart skipped a beat. I can see and feel the evil in her face. I watched that part at least 4 times and each time I had the same reaction. It’s like when you’re watching a scary movie, you’re all into it then all of a sudden, you’re hit with a jump scare and you’re heart jumps . When rewatching a jump scare, you’re not scared after that scene because you know it’s coming but, no matter how many times I rewatch this girl face I still feel fear because how evil she is.
The lack of accountability is INSANE. When Cassie says "I got a charge from them" she means "When I assaulted and attacked my grandfather, breaking his rib, I was arrested and charged with simple battery."
She literally warped the sentence into making herself the victim of her grandparents actions when they were the ones being victimized by her.
this is so heartbreaking what
yes, such truly ill people will often use a passive grammatical structure when an active one would be appropriate. also know that nobody gets born this way. it takes a village to ruin a child.
Except victims choose whether or not to press charges, so what she said is accurate.
She couldn’t see past this very minor event as if her probation would last forever and she wouldn’t have a life because of it… well now she won’t have one for sure. No insight at all.
@@icemachine79its not what she said but the way she said it. And should they not have pressed charges in your opinion??!

i think she is simply a sociopath, i was also taken in by my grandparents when i was a teen and i love them so much for taking care of me. this girl is a monster
I wonder if she suffers from schizophrenia I remember a few other teen killers who were pretty much exactly like Cassie. Doing drugs getting in trouble and all that. They ended up years later figuring out the kids had schizophrenia and it was made worse by drugs and alcohol plus without diagnosis and treatment it ended up at a point where the kids pretty much did horrendous murders.

It’s crazy how calm and normal she seemed.
If you were a lawyer you would thing differrent. ^^
This is what the police did with Dylan Roof, the kid that shot up the church in South Carolina. Instead of people getting the tactic, some people twisted it around like the cops were treating the kid to a happy meal for what he did.
How tf can they get 2 life sentences plus 21 years and still be eligible for parole in 60 years?
;) think of it like 2 train lines runing side by side time served is couted for both at the same time ^^ so you would serve 60 years on both sentences
typically you'd get 25-30 years in prison for a possible parole. there's a lot of other variables that dictates this including which state. so 60 years is pretty normal for 2 life sentences.
Ive met a student or two who was being raised by grandparents who failed the first time, then stuck w a violent, controlling grandchild because the parents are either in jail, dead, or just plain gone. That child basically holds the household hostage and makes everyone’s life pure hell. School included.
Report him,dude 😢
I've also met grandparents who are abusive to the grandkids because the parents left. This case is mad but not the norm, no reason to go so extreme.
my parents are going through something similar with my niece and her boyfriend.
Even though this is true, there are places to send bad kids and having a record the grandparents could have asked the judge for juvi. The guardian most always allows it to keep happening because they feel bad to take more harsh decision that ultimately the kid needs. It’s so sad that anyone has to go through this smh. Thank god they both got 2 life sentences because they are both psychopaths and have ZERO REMORSE. This girl doesn’t lie about murdering her grandparents but lies about having people over after the fact!?!? The calm and casual demeanor is honestly chilling. If they weren’t locked away for life? The next time you feel bad for not "helping" relatives who are trouble makers and clearly have issues, remember these two.
A lot of good Christian people are easy to abuse because they feel like it's their Duty as a Christian to help you. The church has failed in the area of teaching boundaries. There are countless women in the church that stay with abusive husbands because the church tells them that's what they're supposed to do. Lots of abusers specifically troll Christian dating sites Define their next victim. Jerry flowers puts it this way we are taught to be easily loyal to people because they are family. But the saying you can choose your friends not your family holds a lot of weight in a scenario like this. We don't owe anyone anything but to love them and we can do that from afar. We have to set boundaries for our own safety and emotional and mental health. Being codependent is not being a good christian. Sometimes our feelings for others cause us to ignore the red flags that God gives us.
even was pissed by her referring to, my house, my house. little b--ch that was your grandparents house. relatives or strangers. knowing, that such prime examples of the human race are among us .hurray
My father insisting we help the messed up family of his dead brother led to tearing up our own family because those people grew up without a dad and a mother who didn't care about them and flew away to France with her new boyfriend at the first opportunity leaving 2 teenagers and 2 toddlers to whoever was slightly more responsible than her. Not only it put us in a tough financial situation because the mouths to feed and school fees to pay doubled in one day but because of their troubled past they would constantly cause trouble in the house because they had unsorted mental health issues. The oldest male even attempted to sexually assault my sister which completely changed the course of her life in many ways and still affects her to this day in ways that I won't go in detail about. The older sister at some point decided to just strip naked in front of the house because my mom was yelling at her for getting drunk while she's still a teenager. The youngest would constantly argue with my mom and wouldn't accept any form of authority from anyone except my dad so everyday was just constant fighting putting everyone else in an awkward situation. This is just the things I remember from the top of my head but we went from a happy family to living like trailer park trash just because we were trying to help trouble kids.
@amuro9624 WOW, that sounds like a real-life horror movie. Yeah, I have cut off trouble making relatives, and I have no problem with that. Just because they are related doesn't mean you have to help them, especially if they will bring nothing but trouble to your home.
Amen. “Blood is thicker than water” is BS. It’s always about helping toxic people; nobody ever asks why these toxic family members put the rest of their family in jeopardy. Where was their concern for family? Cut off the toxic family members, the ones who drag everybody down, and focus on the people who can succeed. That is the goal of family.

This was one of the most interesting and effective interviews Ihave ever seen done by cops. This entire dinner family time together creates a soft setting to start slowly going into a deeper and more unsettling interview yet the interviewer is disarmed and feels safe to talk without any inhibitions. Very cleverly done. Might be the first time she has such an intimate setting which in itself makes an even more sense of safety and familiarity. Bit like talking with your family on a cold rainy miserable day and warm house with warm food on the table and the people you feel safe with. Definitely the most effective interviews I have ever seen on YT.

The fact that she admits to murdering and torturing her grandparents, stealing their car, money, credit cards, trying to kill her sister, but then she draws the line at "we did NOT have people over at my grandparent's house without permission!" The hatred of her grandma must've just been so deep that she figured people would understand the murder and torture, but partying afterwards was too far for her to morally admit? Crazy story and great video EWU 🙏
Don't forget them being intimate in this house of horrors they created. RIP to the victims 🥀
I keep wondering why it makes so much of a difference if people came over to the house or not. Maybe trying to protect their friends? They already killed two people, having company over is creepy and weird, but it is not even illegal.
@@rorylindsey6656 She is a psychopath. She thinks people will empathize with her regarding her grandparents, however she knows that people wouldn't empathize with her if they knew she was partying, having sex, doing drugs, etc in the house afterwards. It was calculated to try and illicit a specific emotional response out of people. She's clearly a sociopath.
It’s because UP AND UNTIL that point, she was probably thinking I could pin this on Johnny, and slime ball my way out of this or maybe a reduced sentence by pinning it all on Jonny, but the minute the investigators find out the post/murder partying/being intimate in the house it will ruin her and her case of being the “innocent one” out of her and Jonny. She knew she lost all her cards at that point, whether the tears were for the fact she would be in equal trouble as Johnny or the fact she could do such a thing after the gruesome act (who knows)
She was so void of emotion when discussing her grandparents and then showed emotion over that revelation. It was very bizarre. Somehow she had convinced herself she was victim and her grandparents deserved it. The murder was her only way to freedom. The only thing I can come up with in regard to the bizarre show of emotion is that she cares what her “friends” think about being in the home after the murder. Teens typically care more about how they are viewed by their peers in that stage of their lives. Psychologically there are probably many more complex explanations as to what’s going on in this whole scenario. On a simplistic level her immaturity and life stage may have played a part in her reaction. Perhaps a bit of ego, some narcissistic traits thrown in. Clearly, she has to be a psychopath, but she seemed to genuinely care about her relationship with sunshine. It was shocking.
Why give emotionless pyscho killers a possibility of parole? You cant make people care. They either do or they dont. And clearly she doesn't care. She should never be aloud back in the community
And if you are correct, much more knowledgeable people will come to that decision. In 2083. Also, the two would have to be paroled for each of their life sentences.
