And FWIW, Pininfarina just accomplished a 1.79s 0-60 with their newest hyperEV. What’s another .29s off that? If anyone can do it, Tesla can… There’s no doubt in my mind that we will see a roadster with those feats, in the near future. Hell, the plaid could probably do it already, with the current tri-motor architecture stuffed into a roadster body & losing a thousand pounds or so. Beyond that, I see your point…. Physics cannot be undone, and there will be a (more or less) safe limit at which any production road will be unable to surpass, no matter how well-engineered. Is the limit 1.25? 1s? .75s? @@jasons7044 Nah its for people with compromised respiratory systems, it would not work against any advanced biological weapons. Sounds good in the brochure though.

I think it's a bit like the Model 3 Performance where the cabin is moved around quite a bit, but the seats are insanely soft and comfortable so you don't really feel the bumps. Gives a best of both worlds in my opinion, comfort for the driver but you can still feel the road through the suspension and steering wheeling/yoke. :)
If people are dumb enough to rent out their systems to commercial advertising I can see where a Plaid will collect the Guinness World Record for "Most Bullet Holes Collected While Waiting At A Red Light"
Fun Fact: The term Plaid is a reference to the 1987 Mel Brooks movie Spaceballs where Dark Helmet (played by Rick Moranis) pushes his ship beyond light speed and ridiculous speed to ludicrous speed, then on to plaid.
Yeah that's it's pretty much one trick pony I'll give it that it's not very comfortable inside and the ride isn't very refined. I felt like my head bobbled a lot. The materials are cheaper than a $30,000 Mazda by at least two times, it's not very confidence, inspiring or fun to toss around, but that acceleration really is something else the warp speed comment is probably one of the better expressions of it in writing. Everything just starts to blur and streaks by you
@@nunyabisness4300The question really is once you get past that one trick or the rest of the problems worth it. I get it. It's a very niche car. It would be nice to camp in it to run the heat or the air all night, but honestly if you could blindfold somebody and get them to drive a model y and then immediately step out and drive a CX-5 turbo I truly think you'd be lying to say the model y drives better, yes it's quicker but it's definitely not funner to drive. It's not even as composed over rough roads I personally don't believe

A few corrections you might be interested in: - The cover over the storage compartment in the console does cover the whole thing. You just have to push on it again when it's at the half-way point and it'll go the rest of the way. - That "atomic button" is for Bioweapon Defense Mode. It leverages the car's HEPA filtration system to create positive pressure in the cabin relative to the outside. It's been great for those driving near the West Coast's wildfires recently. It was introduced in Model X when in launched in 2015 and added to Model S in 2016. - Sentry Mode runs the eight exterior cameras whenever it's on - not just when some sort of impact occurs. It actually uses AI to determine if someone is walking too closely to the car, peering into it, etc., and it'll warn the potential intruder accordingly. Tesla owners can review footage on the touchscreen from any time the cameras detect something. - You introduced the key fob that Model S has had since it launched in 2012 as the primary key. It's important to note that the new S and X also have "Phone Key" - same as what you're used to in 3 and Y. If you don't want to carry a fob, you don't have to, and you still don't have to reach for anything in your purse/pocket. Great review as always. Thanks for doing what you do!
- It's possible to direct the air from the AC to you using the touch screen - You can voice command almost everything long pressing the right scroll on the yoke - there's a lot more, but the review would get to long...
My exact first thought lmao. Then I was like; holy shit, I've never seen Doug react anything like that in the 6 years I've been watching his channel. That car is fucking insane. Your videos are really funny, btw.
yep it's a hepa filter and the idea of it bombarding you with air is to create positive pressure in the car so if you're driving somewhere with a lot of smoke or something the smoke does not get in the car
He's not exaggerating with his looks of shock. I have a friend who had his Tesla in "Ludacris Mode" I was scared to death inside at the acceleration. I had the exact same reaction. My friend isn't reckless, but It was nothing like I had ever experienced; and this same friend drove me in his Dodge Hellcat, on the same stretch of road before he got the Tesla. The speed of these cars are no joke and should be driven with due care.
I think the "atomic symbol" also activates the biodefense mode using the built-in massive HEPA filter. In the past the, the Model S/X has been known to not just super clean the air in the car but also outside the car.
The lid does close all the way for the center console. You just have to tap it again, and then you can close the center console lid and hide the cupholders.
10:58 that's actually biodefense weapon mode, it activates the HEPA filter to clean the air before it enters the cabin. That's basically hospital air (very clean, by removing toxins in the air)
@@ishanjoshi1350 HEPA filters are very fine. Chances are if you left it on permanently, it'd get clogged and need replacing every few weeks/months. Cities are not great places to be lungs, unfortunately.

That door handle is a great sign that this car won't last very long at all. I have a Honda, and it's 20 years old and drives and looks like it's brand new.
When I bought a Yamaha R1, I told myself, “how is this legal.” This is the same thing, however, the car will only go as fast as you make it go. The R1, something THAT fast on two wheels (0-90 in FIRST gear) is a death machine no matter how you look at it if you’re not track riding.
Tesla is out here building rockets on wheels.. but Doug has a good point..the thought of this machine being at the hands of inexperienced drivers is scary
@@JohnSmith-pn2vl I think he means young/new drivers. Similar arguments about the limitations of grip were up in the air at that time…. But Musk made it happen anyway, and they’ve been produced by the tens of thousands with people launching off stops on the daily… This is real, daily life for thousands of people-something once thought preposterous. 1s? .75s? Idk, but it’s going to be exciting to find out. And IMHO I don’t think the roadster’s 1.5 is/will be it. A few corrections you might be interested in:
- The cover over the storage compartment in the console does cover the whole thing.
Does it use a filtered air module to create positive pressure in the cabin?
- It's possible to direct the air from the AC to you using the touch screen
- You can voice command almost everything long pressing the right scroll on the yoke
- there's a lot more, but the review would get to long...
