I attended Texas Tech University when James Bogle, the brother of Duane, was a professor of guitar there in the early 1980's. I was a music major in the Tech Music Department then. I never knew about this case or his family's tragic history. This is so incredibly sad. How James Bogle was able to move on and have a good life with purpose after such a horrible way to lose his brother is amazing to me.

But I knew him and heard him play on recitals a few times while I was a student there. He always seemed like a really nice man. His students loved him. It wasn't until I saw this video that I found out that he died in recent years. Sadly...he didn't live long enough to see the case solved. BTW...I lived in the apartments directly across from Knapp Hall across University Blvd. I have no idea if those apartments are still there after all these years.

Well I can tell you he wasn't a murderer when he was a baby or a toddler. If you're wondering what he did before and after cause he had 80 years, I'd say before that, he learned to walk and talk and eat hard foods, then he went to school, got a job, had some kids and a wife, after the murders, he moved around. So if he had almost 80 years, you can't possibly think he was doing bad stuff as a baby.

Those types of murders are hard to solve for a couple reasons. First is obviously no connection to the victim but in modern times it could even be that there is no body ever found or if a body is found the perpetrator left no DNA evidence behind (yeah i know that's hard to do but not nearly as hard as you would imagine depending on the manner of death.)

Its terrible that they lost their lives at such a young age, it hurts my heart for both families to have to bury their children. Nobody deserves to bury their babies. The officers and investigators from that time had all retired or passed away but keep the next generation informed on cold cases. They take their cases with them over the years and try to solve them long after they move on with life. My adopted dad was head of investigation at a police department starting in the 1970s and retired in 2003 or so. He said there is always that one case that sticks with you no matter how much time passes. He never talked about work, his time in the navy or the house fires, car accidents, and medical emergency cases he worked. In 1980 my dad founded a small fire station that started out of a old gas station and was Chief from 1980 to 2019. I looked up to him and in my eyes he was my hero. As I got older and got interested in cold cases it dawned on me how much my dad gave of himself to serve and protect the community we lived in. It was very hard for him to discuss the tragedy that surrounded him in his professional life. Those cases take emotional toll on the family and policeman that work the cases. I hope they all are resting in peace.
