I saw this video and loved it. I'm partial to vintage looking quilts. Anyway, I made it for my granddaughter's wedding. She and her new husband loved it. I'm going to make another for myself. I'm a self taught quilter but you get the credit, because I've learned so much from watching your videos. Thank you .
Jenny I love how you don't cover up mistakes but instead turn them into teachable moments for the viewers. Anyone else would have edited the ooopsies out but not you. Thanks for showing that you don't have to be perfect to create something beautiful! 😊
Jenny, When you break steps down , the blocks don't look so hard to make. I can't wait to get my pattern in the mail and start this quilt. Thank you for all the time you put in making these UA-cam videos. They have been very helpful to myself and others.
I'm glad you mentioned that this could be done with a jelly roll, they're what I'm into right now 😊 in really like how you made this so easy. Mine will be smaller flowers but I think it'll work out just fine. Thank you Jenny ❤
Hi Jenny, I just quilted an antique quilt top of this pattern that was sewn by my friend's grandmother in the year 1900. Love watching this "new way" this block is being made. I watch all your videos... You give me courage to try new things... Thank you!!!
I am doing a grandmother's flower garden by hand - wow! Did not know it was going to be such a project. But I am getting toward the end and didn't know how I was going to complete the sides and top. You are an answer to my prayer!!!!!
I have a lot of 30's fabric stashed... and I do believe this is the pattern I'll use for it! Thank you for this tutorial. With it, I feel like this is something I can accomplish and be proud of. Thank you.
I love that you show when you have "Oopses" like all quilters do! Thank you for keeping it real and for having such wonderful tutorials! I have always admired the hexagon patterned quilts, but was afraid to tackle one. Now, I think I might just get started on my own garden! Thank you Jenny!
My Mother learned EPP back in the early 1960’s when we lived in England. She started a Grandmother’s flower Garden then but didn’t finish it until years later. Not one of my Mother’s quilts has a machine stitch in them! My older brother and his wife have that quilt and I don’t think they really appreciate the hours of love she put into it.
I get in trouble with myself by watching these tutorials because I want to make everything! Thank you, Jenny for your wonderful teaching. You make everything so Easy!
My grandmother had made this pattern, but the whole thing was in a hexagonal shape as well. I have always wanted to make one. I needed this tutorial to figure out how to do it. I bought some layer cakes from you and now have the pattern. Thank you so much for posting this.
I made a block similar to this with just half Hexies from a jelly roll but since I was not following a pattern I never made a quilt...thanks for the pattern I now have a purpose for all those half hexies
This block is the reason I started quilting. I fell in love with it about 36 years ago . I was 17 and saw it in a magazine. I cut that article out and saved it for years ❤️❤️
You made a difficult pattern very EASY. I never attempted this pattern due to the complexity of it - now my granddaughter put it on my “to do” list (ha,ha). Thank you 😊
Jenny, you are a life-saver! I have an old Mother's Flower Garden quilt that is falling apart and I've been wanting to rescue it, but I really was dreading doing this style. This makes it SOOOO MUCH easier. I'm thinking of making it even easier by using the large hexi template for the 10" squares and doing a huge center square with smaller squares around it. I love your videos and have been watching them every week for several years now. I'd love to see you and Steven do another video together. That video of the two of you doing that Dresden bag is the reason I started sewing/quilting for the first time at age 62! You are responsible for my fabric addiction!! LOL
Just Love You Jenny!!!!!! 💚💙❤️.....You're like the Italian Grandma that everyone would love to adopt into their family. Another amazing tutorial. Thanks for the laughs and the quilting ideas. All our love from Australia 🇦🇺!!!
After I finished making my first quilt, I said, I’d never make another and now while watching your tutorials, I want to make another! Thanks! (I think), LoL 😆
This is darling! I get in trouble with myself by watching these tutorials because I want to make everything! Thank you, Jenny for your wonderful teaching. You make everything so Easy!
Jenny I love this. I have a hand piece quilt I started and stopped for years now. I'm going to pull it all out and see what I can do to finish it. I love when you show us a mistake, makes me feel its alright to rip.
am in the process of making this quilt for my two granddaughters who share a room together....I can't wait to see the finished product.....it's darling
Love this. Jenny's quilt is a cute modern version of a classic, complementing the 30s fabric. The template is magic. Works best with jelly rolls. And i love cornerstones, too 😘
Lovely, and you make it so easy! Thank you for letting us see problems we might have. I don’t feel bad when it happens to me. You’re an awesome teacher
Brilliant as always!! 😀 This pattern has been a favorite of mine since I was a little girl. (I'm currently in my 60's) your videos are so appreciated, thank you!❤️
I love this quilt! I'm not fond of paper piecing, but this gives me hope of making Grandmother's Flower Garden with out it! Almost any fabric would look good, but you're right Jenny, thirties repro fabric looks perfect!
My brain started taking two of your tutorials and mixing them into one, taking your orphan Block Grandmas flower garden quilt tutorial where you used light weight fusible interfacing and using that technique with these hexagon flowers without the white edges added and using lightweight fusible interfacing on these! Or just to go crazy, then take Dresden plate and alternating each block and have, Grandmas Garden tea table! Lol! Jenny, your creativity just gets mine going! You are amazing, thank you!
Wow! I hand quilted a really large old fashioned grandmother's garden. It took over a year just to quilt..never mind the cutting and piecing. It is beautiful, but I would NEVER do such again. This is beautiful, and I cannot wait to make it. I must figure out though how to make it larger. You are wonderful!!!!
That sounds like an amazing quilt, Mary!! Sometimes it's nice to slow down and do some hand sewing. :) We hope you enjoy making your Vintage Blossom Quilt!
Make the quilt itself bigger? Or the flowers bigger? To make the quilt bigger, just add more blocks. To make the flower bigger, which also would end up w a bigger quilt unless you used less squares, they sell the half hexi template in a 10in size. You would then need layer cakes or yardage as you would need 5in instead of 2.5 to get your half hexi shape. Hope that helps! :)
Jenny , I'm so glad you done this lovely quilt because it has been one of my favorites for years ! Thank you so much for teaching us anglely challenged people . I could never do these without your help. That is why I'm donating all my quilt books to our library. They do me no good but, you make everything make sense! ♥️🌹
Karen Priar that is exactly what I was thinking. I have 4 leftover black & white charm packs, and I’m thinking of using those with either all yellow or hot pink centers.
"Anglelly challenged" lol!!! I'm totally using that! Thank you for another great tutorial! Always get excited when I get a Missouri Star Quilting Co notification!!!!
I love this! I have a set of blues that will be wonderful. It's already been said, but thank you so much for fixing your error on screen. New quilters need to see that.
Great job! I was going to English paper piece and then I saw this. I decided I didn't want to spend a year on a hand pieced one for a grandchild. Just takes too much care when gifting the quilt to a child. This is a great option and I'll still be able to do the hexies.
Gorgeous pattern! And Jenny, thank you so much for the clear permission to be a tad off on piecing these half-hexis together! I just finished cutting (and am about to start piecing) my first hexagon quilt for my wife and….I’ve been so anxious about that alignment!
I love the traditional quilts. I’m getting down to the end of hand piecing a grandmother’s fan quilt. Only a few blocks to go. I’m excited to get it finished.
Jeanie , I just loved this tutorial on hexies! I've wanted one of these quilts for years but they scared me off! Now with you help I just might be able to make one. Thank you so much for that !!❤❤❤❤
I was the same way. Saw this tutorial , found some beautiful vintage looking material and made one for my granddaughter's wedding. It was actually one of the easiest I've done. You can do it.
I just love you, Jenny. I've learned so much from you. My grandma quilted and my Mom and brother are now quilting, but I guess I'm more adventurous. I try the "harder" stuff and you have given me the courage to do so and take on any quilt I desire. I appreciate how you want it close, but it doesn't have to be perfect and encourage your followers to learn as you go. I love your real world example of quilting. :)
Absolutely thrilled to see this darling old pattern made easy! Thanks Jenny for putting this together & sharing! Will be making this for one of my nieces. :)
Jenny, Thank you so much for all the time you take to show us how to make so many beautiful quilts.. The easiest way! Can you please come up with a pattern for that Vintage Quilt you rescued ?? I love the look of the Irish chain appearance. Sure hope you can help us out. Thank you
Thank you for the great tutorial, it's a very cute pattern. I really love the Vintage Quilt you rescued - it's gorgeous, I might try to work out an easy way to make something similar as I have 2xhalf yard bundles of Retro 30's Childs Smile fabrics (happy accident) and 2 young great nieces who would love it. Winter has arrived in South Australia so good quilting weather.

I agree with Teri N - Thanks for showing us that it's OK to be human! It is GREATLY appreciated! That's what I love about Jenny, she is so REAL!
I love that you show when you have "Oopses" like all quilters do! Thank you for keeping it real and for having such wonderful tutorials! I have always admired the hexagon patterned quilts, but was afraid to tackle one. Now, I think I might just get started on my own garden! Thank you Jenny!

Me too. I constantly feel the need to buy fabric. It's a problem lol.

I have so many unfinished "Jenny" projects haha. I love them all!!!
I have a lot of WIPS ( works in progress) LOL love, love that I am not the only one to want to keep up with all Jenny's great ideas.
So happy you made this old fashioned block fresh and new. Thank you.

Love your block! Thanks for an easy to understand tutorial. I think it would be neat to use the same color of solid in the center of each blossom.

I sure did enjoy this tutorial from the MSQC! You make me feel like I could actually make this!
Oh digging the new table top for the machine
Love your method. I think I will try this one.
Thank you Jenny for another great tutorial. I think I would press the seams open to help eliminate the bulk.
This would be great with shades of yellow and browns to make giant sunflowers.
So cute! I love designing quilts but struggle sewing together. Guess I need to practice more!
Beautiful quilt, what is old is new again! Any chance of seeing your collection of quilts - would love to see a Jenny Doan quilt bed turning video!
