      @@NiclasHorn This is sort of reminiscent of 1994. The Williams FW16 was hard to drive at the edge, but Senna managed it. After his death, Newey turned it down a notch, with the updates at the Spanish GP and Hill managed to get more out of the car. Having a driver like Verstappen (or Senna) must be a dream for a guy like Newey (and his team), he can just design a car without compromise, knowing the driver can handle it. With Verstappen out, he's going to have to rethink his design strategy to maximise results. Perez wouldn't be able to win 19/22 races with the current car. I doubt (m)any other driver(s) could.

    The problem with investigations like this transparency isn’t always an option due to private information and confidential team information.
    As making it transparent will allow access to this material and could have major consequences and by hiding certain parts of the information would be worse than not releasing anything

    • @nashtoise

      I see your point but the opacity of the investigation simply leads us to believe that this was simply a formality and a kangaroo court of sorts with Horner declared innocent of any wrongdoing.
      Men in positions of power can and have continuously gotten away from such issues because of "investigations" like these. I'm not one for calling someone guilty but the screenshots were pretty damning and it's not hard to believe that a man in power would do something like this.

    Respectfully, personnel investigations are almost NEVER transparent. Every person is entitled to a measure of privacy. Neither Horner nor the accuser are exceptions to that general rule.
    Notice that the accuser has not (as of Friday afternoon) stepped up to the microphone and identified herself. She has not appealed. She has not filed a civil action.
    If your goal was, “I get to examine the evidence for myself and make up my own mind,” you were going to be disappointed from the outset. Your expectations were not in line with the way personnel investigations work.

    • @robinbailey7460
      @robinbailey7460 3 місяці тому +5

      Spot on. The accuser and accused should not be broadcast to the world. if the accuser wins the case - staying in the firm becomes difficult, do people feel safe with communications, what action will offend etc. They could also become known as a trouble maker. Neither outcome is good for the future career. Lose the case - have yourself known to all and as above - the potential new bosses and workers will be cautious of interactions.
      The accused will have the "mud sticks" problem. 'Is it true, and they got away with it?'
      Transparency for Christian Horner is a mute point, he is already known. He can afford to step back/retire/move on. Presumably the accuser is not a multimillionaire - so work will be needed - elsewhere or back in Red Bull. Ein or lose, justified or not - she loses either way. Again 'mud sticks.'

    • @ozzyp97
      @ozzyp97 3 місяці тому

      While this is probably true, especially in cases like this where one part clearly holds far more power some transparency is required for the conclusions to be believable. It's in the company's best interest to find their team boss innocent if at all possible, and if they can set the prescedent that opening your mouth gets you fired, all the better.
      I guess we'll see whether this gets escalated outside the company, but we all know a lot of people won't have the time, money and energy to keep fighting.

    • @BruceKarrde
      @BruceKarrde 3 місяці тому +3

      “I get to examine the evidence for myself and make up my own mind”
      You're right - a lot of people, especially content creators, seem to feel entitled to such information. People need to understand that some things are none of your business. In my opinion the situation would've been terrible and even more damaging to any party, if they decided to release names, release parts of the evidence, and parts of anything.
      Especially in cases were inappropriate behaviour has been mentioned, people tend to side with the woman and consider sexual harassment to be the case.
      The issue with principles of Mercedes, McLaren, and Ferarri chiming in, is that now it seems as if "Horner got away with it."
      Several things have been leaked and that should be reason to sue the leaker. The fact that no one can determine whether those text messages were, all of them, 100% real, is shown that there's barely any article about it. And from hearing, if those text messages are true and it's considered "inappropriate behaviour", well, I have a lot of text messages and emails from female managers that could get sued.
      In the end - People need to mind their own business. People, who are not involved in the case, should respect the conclusion of the verdict. As of writing, the accuser is going to court. That is really the only thing we can do.
      We are F1 fans and spectators. Gossip is something for the female tabloids and female hairdressers. Let's be passionate but also level-headed. I mean, what if you were accused and the judge or investigation declares you innocent. But you still have people at your door claiming you're a perpetrator ...

      I think the team behind the scenes is stronger than that. Good young drivers in the wings, a struggle, yes probably. But at least Jos can then haunt Toto when Max joins Merc. It would be good to see Max's ability in an inferior car. Driving in circles on his own can't be that invigorating.
      The whole affair seems to me to be a stitch up, or has become one. Merc, McLaren whining about Red Bull, Toto's constant jibes at RB, CH and even MV - especially 2021! Gotta disagree on one point Law: we have no right to demand more transparency over the Horner situation at this point.
    The investigation was conducted in a way that concealed the identity of the complainant, who (had they desired to) had the option to file charges publicly. They didn’t do this, presumably because they did not desire this. So again, we are neither a complainant nor a defendant in this matter, and more importantly, neither is anyone else in the sport, ESPECIALLY Toto and Brown. Those second-rate souls who clawed their way up the greasy pole by kissing it fight over the succession, but none are really up to the job. So the empire collapses from within (RB execs) or is knocked-over by unfriendly powers from without. (Joss)

    May i ask what transparency you specifically would have liked to have seen? How would you have changed either the process or communication strategy if you were in charge of RedBull corporate? Given this is an internal private matter with confidentiality considerations as well as private testimony from numerous individuals what exactly could have been communicated? There was a summary decision of the process disclosed as well as some disclosure regarding the process and right of appeal.

    I'm not sure I agree that red bull needed more transparency. It may be the case that they had to keep everything confidential for the benefit of both parties involved. The thing is, the media really has no right to wade into a sensitive and confidential HR dispute and demand complete transparency and all the information. We likely won't know all the info for a long long time, if ever, sadly...that's just the nature of these kind of things...

There's a cottage industry of UA-cam channels & podcasts that have fed this hopium drug to Silver Arrows and Lewis Hamilton's fan base over the last couple of years. I just hope this channel keeps it real on Mercedes' struggles and doesn't go the direction of "the team is just an upgrade away from decimating Red Bull" fantasies.

    Finally, Love Toto and George's attitude lately with the Teams situation and realise panicking doesn't help at all. Takes pressure off the Engineers to find solutions. Also, panicking will turn off the 13 available drivers out of contract or in F2. If they come across clueless doesn't communicate confidence on your underlying product and staff. If, Max is even considering Mercedes, he will be ok to write off 2025 at Mercedes. But, 2026 will be better, he might take that leap of faith.
    I am still wondering if Lewis and Mercedes should not maybe consider agreeing on early exit and put in Vesti, as he is struggling to be motivated. Also, in PR sphere, Lewis is including himself in Ferrari spotlight, even Ferrari social media "includes" him in their content. Evidence the Bearman content, Lewis always finding Charles in Driver Parades and any situation. Also, in Malaysia in a Petronas event being "happy, giddy you might even say" when signing a Ferrari fan cap. In one press conference, when asked about a Max/George Teammate combo being a strong one, he agreed, but said he and Charles, my Team next year will be strong too. Like in a defensive way. PR wise he didn't have to say the last part. Lewis is no fool in the PR game. Evidenced by his success outside F1. I don't blame him to have all this excitement on his side. Ferrari seems to be in a good place right now vs Mercedes. Everyone is always excited to get a new toy. And he should. But, it's not a good look at the moment. I always seen Lewis as being professional in these things and not so obvious in showing his loyalties so blatantly. I don't think he means to, but can't help himself. You can't hide what's in your heart. It eventually comes out.
    Therefore I get why Mercedes is focusing on George for social media content. Lewis fans needs to understand.
    Thanks for the content.

    I find it hilarious that within a minute of this video you confirm Mercedes asked for the rules to be changed, when Toto just yesterday claimed he wasn't going to do 'a Horner' by asking the rules to be changed. Of course, Toto's defense will be that he asked because of the safety of their drivers and not because of Red Bull's dominance (like, according to Toto, Horner did back in the day). Truth is, any good team boss would do anything to get a leg up on the other teams. I'm starting to appreciate Fred Vasseur more every day, cause unlike Toto, Horner and Zak, he's just keeping quiet, getting on with the job and slowly creeping back towards the front.

      They seem to forget Lewis was getting beat by George in 2022 because for half of the season he was more focused on testing the car to understand it. The second he stopped trying stuff to help test during practices he smoked George.
      He'w doing the same thing again this year, thw nuanc3 is that Merc is probably limiting the amoun6 of technical information he can get so he so he doesn't get to do as much as he'd like.
      LH is pretty much sabotaging half of his season in order to give the engineers as much data as possible, and Merc are sabotaging themselves by blocking information and data flow to LH to avoid some leeks to ferrari next year. Lewis should just focus on beating George and just leave Merc to lay in their own pile and garbage.
      And all of that is said while I'm far from being a LH fan.

    IMHO, a lot will depend on what Adrian Newey does. IIRC, he was going to retire but CH managed to get him to stay (gave him time off to design an America's Cup yacht, & he designed the AM Valkyrie I think???). If Newey says "If Horner goes, I retire," RB Austria will have to think twice about getting rid of him.
    (I naturally stand to be corrected. No need to try to start an argument, if you know better, correct me. I might look one day, but you'll at least educate others.)
    As for the charges against him, I have no idea what is true and I'm not on either side. Whoever is in the wrong should face the appropriate consequences. But in 20 years, this is the first hint of any bad behaviour, not even during the "me too" height was there a hint of anything inappropriate. I'm _not_ calling her a liar, far, _far_ from it! But I'm working on the leopard doesn't change his spots theory. That doesn't just apply to bad character =» bad character, but similarly doesn't _often_ apply to long-standing good character=» bad character (especially such an apparently drastic change over a reasonably short time period - at least that's what I've gleaned from the press. I think it's more along the lines of the Mercedes car being based on a flawed foundational concept stemming from a misguided understanding of how to maximize these ground effect regulations based on data from the sin that's inconsistent with on track performance. They can tweak it to Lewis' needs and shift the ride position all they want but tractor is a tractor and they just didn't get the floor or the suspension right. What they DO have is a bunch of engineers chirping about the potential for the car to be a race winner so he's like "Alright I'll find that race winning car." So Lewis really shouldn't stop experimenting because a "that'll do" mentality doesn't win championships. If they're going to think like that, they better get comfortable in 4th place.
