      It's AGnelli. Not Angeli.
They are basically the Kennedys of Italy... And no Angels whatsoever.
Old "Silver Nose" Agnelli was quite the match to the wily "Drake". Elkann is the intelligent grandson... he has a clown for a brother.

Leclerc is an actual winner of Lewis Transfer.
If he loses against lewis then he lost against of arguable one of the GOATs of the sport and if he wins then he gains even more

    • @LawVS
      @LawVS  3 місяці тому +42

Of course, but for now before a wheel has turned, securing Lewis is a sign that the CEO of Ferrari doesn't believe Leclerc is the guy to lead them to a title.

    • @legoferrari14
      @legoferrari14 3 місяці тому +23

*Hard* disagree on that statement; if Leclerc loses to Hamilton in 2025, then he's at much bigger risk of losing the Scuderia's favour than he ever was with Sainz. Hamilton already has an established history with Vasseur, which combined with Hamilton's F1 legacy will give him significantly more leverage given that Leclerc hasn't been able to consistently string together a title fight. Furthermore, on the public perception side, TeamLH's merger into the Tifosi will give Hamilton more commercial weight and influence in the Italian press, plus Hamilton will also enable the British press to rally behind Ferrari. And we all know how Ferrari is influenced by media metrics.

When Ferrari has invested in Hamilton this much and made him part of marketing, Leclerc should fear his equal opportunity. I don't think Hamilton brings much to the table in terms of team performance, the team he performed with had unique long term supremacy thanks to the head start on the engine concept. It's probably just Ferrari being impatient and signing what the believe a sure thing because everybody says he's superquick like with Raikkonen.

Oh of course. As I stated, if Lewis DOES get that 8th title then this transcends Michael's 2000 moment...but if Lewis doesn't get it and Charles is able to hold his own or outshine him...then that's a very expensive hole in their pocket...as far as Lewis is concerned he is the winner for the most part.

Ferrari have been fighting near the front minus 2020 and 2021 for a long time even if they haven't won the title. Before Schumacher joined Ferrari had been in the wilderness.
The contract for Lewis is worth it for the value of Ferrari even if he doesn't win. The only way this goes wrong is if Lewis expresses dissatisfaction with Ferrari publicly if things don't go well.@@LawVS

That section around 8:45 is like a Seb version 2.0 story -- Seb leaving Red Bull after an ultra successful run, Lewis was dominating F1 and something wild had to change enter Seb leaving to go to Ferarri... Now its Lewis' turn to see if he better the original story, since Seb could only get to 2nd. Its interesting how stories always seem to repeat themselves.

I do have a feeling that Hamilton does not see joining Ferrari as a matter of pride, but for convenience only, in the Alain Prost way. Alonso, Schumacher, and Mansell all joined Ferrari with pride and they all received a lot of affection from the Scuderia and got adoration from the Tifosi. I get a feeling that the Hamilton GOAT may even ask Ferrari to paint the car black and he might not last long there.

The situations with Alpine and Ferrari are nothing alike. Renault doesn't even take its own team seriously and refuses to give Alpine the proper investment it needs to be a front running team. Then when the team predictably underperforms and the team leadership tries to convince Renault to invest more they fire their own leadership instead of investing more. With Ferrari they already have all the investment they need to win and their management changes are actually warranted because people actually have been under-delivering.

Guys hear him out. He’s not saying Lewis will do poorly. It’s an analysis of one of the most shocking switches in teams in 5 years. Ferrari is responding to market pressures and the culture changes that will come to one of the oldest teams.
I’m team LH through and through, and will have all my stuff go red in 25.

This just doesn't make any sense to me when it comes to Ferrari's perspective. They have the best driver lineup on the grid with Charles and Carlos and they are both still pretty young. Aquiring Hamilton does nothing but make noise for them. They may get 3 years out of Lewis and I highly doubt he will out perform Charles the first year if ever. Ferrari needs to focus more on strategy and making the car closer to the RB rather than switching the one thing they had going for them which was the drivers.😂

Now, I think this is a shallow understanding of Ferrari's goals here.
First, we have established that Leclerc has known and approved of Lewis' move to the Scuderia.
Second, Elkann's motives move way more than the Scuderia. It has been reported that Ferrari will give Mission44 and him a ton of money for his charity work. That's important in this case. Elkann WANTS to be Ferrari's ambassador, along with Charles.
Third, would you think Lewis would even try to touch the Scuderia if Vasseur hadn't been picked as Team Principal? With Binotto at the helm of the role? With the fiasco that is 2022-2023? No? Exactly. Who urged the Ferrari bosses to fire Binotto and hire Vasseur because they would leave if they haven't? Leclerc. He has immense power over the team and he knows that he won't be pushed around. Just because Elkann made a bunch of calls doesn't mean Elkann was the primary instigator of this move to Ferrari, and don't underestimate Vasseur either. He's the one making the shots as the TP, negotiating with Lewis for the actual role of driving a car, Elkann helped Fred get that with the bonuses mentioned above.
Fourth, no, Leclerc and Sainz aren't balanced in terms of how they're moving on the team. Sainz has tried many times to mess up Charles' qualifying, hell, Silverstone 2022 was a thing where the entire pit wall seemingly just helped Carlos, despite Charles being faster during race duration. There's a lot of infighting between the team before Vasseur took the role as TP.
This isn't some sort of, Ferrari bosses losing trust in Leclerc. All of them have some sense that Lewis is in his waning years. Leclerc is an FDA protégé, that isn't changing, and his manager, Nick Todt? He'd fight tooth and nail for the fair contract Charles deserves. Piero believes in him. Hell, again, the reason why Lewis is in Ferrari is because of Charles, if not for his calls made to the bosses, Fred won't be at the role he is now, and Ferrari won't get Lewis.

No, Schumacher was on a level of his own and chose the hard long difficult way to glory with Ferrari instead of Williams or McLaren. He didn't need to settle in to beat his teammate convincingly at Ferrari, he and Brawn and Todt needed time to make something of the team and car.
We have no reason to believe Russell is the only driver of the current field that matches Hamilton on pace. That is not a matter of being past his prime, that's a matter of not being that much faster than mediocre or subtop drivers and the field getting quicker with every year of young talents coming in. Leclerc might simply be well faster than prime Hamilton ever was.

Lewis has never wanted number 1 status in a team. This lie has to stop. He started with Alonso, then later had Button, Rosberg, Russell and now Leclerc. Equal status with all of them. If being number 1 was that important for him he would never join Leclerc to Ferrari. Would never race with world champions or generational talents in the same team. I 100% agree with your assessment. This is a slap to Charles and Fred, after all he is supposed to run the F1 team not Elkann. To me this is just a publicity stunt and not in any way a strategic move. The best Ferrari can hope for is that Lewis is hugely successful and gets an 8th title. There is no certainty of that but assuming he does he will no doubt retire shortly after and Ferrari will lose Charles leaving them without a stable driver lineup and they will have to go through a rebuilding phase.
Of course, it remains to be seen but I doubt Lewis will be as competitive as Charles. If he is not successful then Elkann's hopes to reappropriate the success of Lewis' career from Mercedes to Ferrari will fall flat and certainly won't work on the Tifosi and F1 fans generally.
The risk is high and the returns for Ferrari the car company could be good, they will certainly get a lot of attention, but giving a champion everything he asks for at the very end of his career it is not a strategic sporting decision, it is a marketing move. The fact the team that had the most to gain from his endorsement in his last years driving and after retirement, Mercedes, didn't agree to his demands is evidence that this simply doesn't make sense. Lewis will never be considered a true Ferrari driver by Ferrari people, he is too late in his career. And his fans will say its because of the r word. But it won't be.

How big impact did Michael had on the trajectory of Merc during his 3 years, I don't know. Vettel moved from RB to Ferrari as a 4-time WC- didn't win any titles after that. To be fair the last time a driver moved on from a championship-winning team to a "struggling" team and made them a championship-winning team, was Michael in 1996 to Ferrari and won in 2000. In my heart, you will always be Masako. I know that technically you are MasakoX, but still lol. Do you prefer Law, LawVS, Lawrence, Masako? As always, much love, wish you nothing but the best 🙏

I don't mind but here you can use either Masako or Law.

11:45 to add on to your point, in American football, people only remember for the last team you played for, if you won a Super Bowl. All the pictures of Peyton Manning are in broncos jerseys, a lot of Tom Brady pictures are from Tampa. Lewis will forever be known as a Ferrari driver if he wins a world title there

Good point. If Lewis nails it then he'll probably be even more legendary...if he doesn't and he falls to Charles it could easily be a similar situation to Damon Hill's 1999 season.

Ah no.. I was on the "Lewis at Ferrari" hype train. But your information puts this all in a completely different light.. Let's wait and see what will happen

Lewis is quids in here. He's pulled a blinder of a move to end his career at a dream team of his. And he gets paid for it!

@@LawVS Oh definitely! I think it is a huge W for Lewis.
Though I am a bit worried regarding in what position Charles and Fred will be finding themselves in case Lewis' move to their team will not bring them to the top ASAP. As you said - Charles' role as a leader and Fred's plan on trying to get Ferrari back to the top slowly and steadily *could be* in jeopardy.
And as you mentioned: let's not forgot how they did my man Carlos! I have remembered McLaren's farewell video as well and it was a bit heartbreaking.
