I'm looking forward to it again! Rarely go as often as this, was over all of October. I hope the weather picks up - but at least I have had almost 2 months of sunshine here in Gran Canaria ☀
After all that money I spent buying this type of weaving in needle, that type of bent tip needle etc and all because after using them it was oh, well, they aren't much different. All I need is a sharp needle. I was taught never to use a sharp needle because it will split and damage the thread. Mind you that was decades and decades ago. Now I will use a sharp needle. Thanks Tuula, I always enjoy your videos. Your Aussie viewer, Sue
Thank you Sue! There would be some sort of yarns that could be damaged if you went into the fibers with a needle, like some glitter yarns. But most don't.
I am weaving in some ends right at this moment; working with worsted weight wool for the first time. I just took off my blunt tipped tapestry needle and reaching for a sharp ended one….thanks for that tip.
I generally use a blunt needle, but I can see the advantage to a sharp needle...especially for DK or sport weight yarns. Your tips are always so helpful...thank you 🤗
I appreciate you also explaining how the different types of fibers' property, like wool ,keeps it from pulling back out. The tip about the sharp needle is very helpful too!! Never thought about that either... ❤
Alas, my holiday is coming to a close as well! The island has been sooooo glorious this year! A little rain each day has kept it so lush and the ocean water has been clear as glass and warm. Sigh. Regardless! Thank you so much for another WONDERFUL & HELPFUL tip! I always appreciate you! Cheers! Lisa from SXM via OH ☺️🫶🏻🧶🌴
Tuula, I love the way you think! So many of your tips are ideas I already use! For example, the way you make your slip knot is exactly the way I was taught. I’ve never seen another UA-camr do it like that! And I really appreciated your tips on when to keep the slip knot loose. You are an excellent teacher!
I enjoyed this one while weaving my own ends in (cotton dk, so a bit more slippy). I like to put the needle between the fibres of the yarn too but I tend to use a very thin tapestry needle. 🪡
You are so very very helpful. I am so paranoid about my work coming apart that I over worry about weaving in ends. Such a simple idea but not one we might think about.
Dear Tuula, Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful tips. The mini granny squares look lovely. Wishing you safe travels. Take care and God’s blessings 🙏🏼💗🧶😻🐶🦋
Thank you. I knitted your "favourate pattern" c2c shawl & till today i didn't weave the ends. (Used 4 colors that i had already &wanted to clear my box of yarn) I'll try to do that when i watch Tv like you said. Thank you again for the weaving "technique" because i don't go back with the thread.
@@TuulaMaariaWhen crocheting the body as one piece, back and front. There are many ways to connect the rounds as one continues around the piece. Essentially a tube. example: sleeve to keep Tea glass warm or leg warmers without sewing a seam later. ? ? ? Thank you
Thank you Tuula🎉 I love the mini squares idea and will follow your darning in ends too. You are a great traveller. Is that just for the winter or as the mood takes you?😍☘️
Thank you! I try to avoid as much of the Finnish winter as possible, while continuing to work normally! When I came here to Las Palmas in January, I didn't know where I would go for March, had nothing booked. Then decided to go to Ireland where I have a place to stay!
This is exactly how I darn in ends. If acrylic, go further. Another tip is to tie a slip knot in the end of the thread that you have darned in, and do a lot of cutting off at a time. The knot tells you cut. I do my ends in batches of 10 and I never find it a boring job. You tube stories keep me entertained.
Artificial fibers mainly because they don't stick. Acrylic or some novelty yarns like ones with glitter or cord-type ones but also hard crochet cotton, like mercerised.
I find double magic ring so fiddly that I never use it, doing a single one like this ua-cam.com/users/shortslFFD133pYv8 But if I did, I'm not usre I would dare to trust that since the yarn doesn't go to the opposite direction at all inside the stitches.
So many times I caught myself short on a tail, kept trying to get to the end of a line in cross stitch - never thought to put the needle in, then thread it? Stupid me! Thank you!
Thank you for watching! The video about crocheting the mini granny squares shown on this video is here: ua-cam.com/video/-PM51O6QD8s/v-deo.html
Delighted to know that you are coming to Ireland. It’s quite cold and raining most days so be prepared! I do hope you enjoy your stay here. ❤

That’s what I do , which makes me think I must be doing it the right way thankyou for sharing
Great! Although there's probably no right or wrong way but I think this is the handiest! 😊
I've been using the same technique!❤ I always leave short tails and do this

Great, yes there is certainly no rule for this, varies for so many reasons!
Interesting how you weave in ends on those tiny squares 🤗 Enjoy your time in Ireland. Safe travels🙏🏻
Thank you so much!
Yes thanks. I find that a very fine crochet hook helps, instead of a needle. 👍
Yes, that can be great at times too!
Tuula, you are always so generous in assisting us to be better crocheters!!!

Glad you have enjoyed it!

Have you done a video on
joining in-the-round seams?
How to make them straight?
Invisible?

No, unfortunately I don't have a video about that. Do youmean how to finish off the last stitch or how to sew round things together?

That's a great tip!
What i do now is i will tie 2 end together and then thread it through, but now I'll use a needle like this bcause i have a couple of them.
Thank you 😊
That would work too, as long as you don't mind knots in your work.
@@TuulaMaaria I was afraid at first but when I tried the first one and didn't feel the not I was excited 🤣
Mrs Tuula, these are wonderful tips, but please forgive me, God bless your patience. 😊 Too many yarns to weave.
Yes, definitely lots of yarn ends! But I don't mind, I find it relaxing to finish them!
You mentioned slippery yarn might come out. Is slippery yarn any soft yarn or made of stuff like acrylic? Thanks so much

Great, it's handy!
Can't you do a double magic ring in the first place, and then just snip the thread off?
I find double magic ring so fiddly that I never use it, doing a single one like this ua-cam.com/users/shortslFFD133pYv8 But if I did, I'm not usre I would dare to trust that since the yarn doesn't go to the opposite direction at all inside the stitches.
