All 3 of them are some of the best at their instrument. The drummer, Neil Peart writes the majority of their lyrics. Best band to see live...watch a concert video, it's epic.
Neil Peart was straight up legend. His drum kit was so large, that when they toured the kit would rotate around him and reveal a 2nd drum kit! He would go from one kit to the next while it spun around him. It was insane! And as a result some did not notice that lead singer Geddy Lee was not only singing and playing bass, but he was also playing keys and synthesizers-all at the same time! This trio is one of the greatest acts in hard rock history. BTW Jamie Foxx was introduced to their music while studying at the San Diego Music Conservatory and he is a fan.
Cool story.....my mom worked in the city and she was on lunch. She saw a group of people waiting in a line to buy something and my mother never liked to miss out on anything lol. So, she got in line and bought 2 tickets to a show. I was 13 years old in the early 80's and she got home that day, and asked me do you know a group name Rush? I said yes and she handed me these tickets and said here I grabbed these at lunch people were waiting in line so I got in line. I started jumping up and down. My mom was an older mom, but pretty cool.
Dude that's great. I was visiting a female friend, she got a call and apparently her friend who was supposed to go to see Springsteen THAT night in Philly, couldn't go. She looked and me and I had a huge smile on my face. This was '80.
@Matterian thank you! I was the 6th child so all the older ones were out of the house. She treated me differently from them. She told me there's nothing I could do that would surprise her lol. I lost my mom to breast cancer when I was 18 and my younger sister was 11. I think of all the things she did different for me with a smile.

Rush is in a class by themselves. So many unique attributes, the instrumentation, the talent, the songs, and what happens when they played together was magic.
And most of all their lifelong friendship. I love seeing Geddy and Alex now advertising their beer, drinking wine and just hanging out enjoying each other.
Rush is a band that has purpose for every note and lyric. Nothing is done for filler or as a throw away line. There is so much intelligence and craft to their music.
Rush is one of the best bands of all time and they are from Canada. Geddy Lee on lead vocals, bass guitar, and keyboard. Alex Lifeson on lead guitar, and Neil Peart on drums and he wrote their lyrics🔥🔥.
Peart wrote all the lyrics starting with the 2nd album, "FLY BY NIGHT". and excluding one song "TOM SAWYER", which was written by Pye Dubois (lyrics). The band got a kick out of their highest charting song being written by someone else.
@@robwhitmer5294 Pye also wrote Force Ten, Geddy wrote Tears, and Best I Can, and Geddy and Alex wrote Best I Can and Peter Talbot wrote the lyrics for Closer to the Heart.
And here's a little trivia for ya....."Geddy's" actual name is Gary. So what happened as he was growing up, his mother or grandmother (I don't recall which) was from the old country and pronounced his name Gary as "Geddy" in her heavy accent... and it stuck!
06:39 Star inside the circle with a human figure was from their album 2112. The song 2112 proper was like a mini opera, 25 minute long song about a dystopian future where computers rule and all are and tradition are gone. The drummer was a genius - he was the main song writer for the band.
Every time I gave somebody my phone number I would always say to them in attempt to help them remember the last 4 digits, "2112 like the Rush album.".😁👌
Just to take John’s comment a little further. That’s the “Red Star of the Solar Federation.” In the story presented on their album, “2112”, it was the symbol adopted by the evil empire that ruled the world in the story. They suppressed all artistic expression and individuality. The man in front of it holding his arms up in resistance is the protagonist in the story who is brutally repressed by the totalitarian establishment. Since that album was conceived and written during the Cold War between America and the Soviet Union (Russia) some have speculated that the Red Star is a jab at Russia whose national symbol includes a red star.

Neil Peart is considered by many people to be the best drummer of all time! You need to check out Neil Peart's drum solo live in Frankfurt and you will see why he is considered to be the best! Neil has been with Rush from the beginning, with the exception of their first album, Geddy Lee(bass and lead vocals) and Alex Lifeson(guitars) has been in Rush since its inception! Neil also wrote the lyrics to their songs as well! People are surprised when they only 3 guys in the band with this powerful sound! After you check out Neil's solo check out Spirit Of Radio from the Permanent Waves album! I hope you check out more from all three of these geniuses that is Rush! Thank you!
One thing that always blows my mind: these guys played all these instruments LIVE, too! It wasn't unusual to see Geddy Lee with his bass hanging by its strap, while he played keyboards...or to have him playing keyboards with his feet while absolutely shredding on the bass. As to where they were, they were in a rural part of the Canadian Province of Ontario. They're a Canadian band.
You have now been blessed with the ultimate experience of the worlds best drummer to have ever graced this earth. Welcome to the most down to earth, technically advanced group of three who have a whole collection of great music. Welcome to the Rush family ♡✌
The band has a very libertarian ethos, which always made Rolling Stone Magazine cry like little girls. It's almost criminal to have that much talent in one band. I remember exactly where I was when I heard Neil died. I happened to see the news scrolling across the chyron of a muted television set in a public place. I went to my knees bawling. It was just so unexpected. Onlookers were gawking...I didn't care. I could barely stop crying for two weeks. Thanks for highlighting this elite band. RIP Neil.
I actually cried when Neil died. For so many years he kept touring while really not loving having to ve in the spotlight, biding his time to just enjoy life and relax. And he passed away so rapidly after the band retired. Broke my heart.

Congratulations you guys stumbled on one of the greatest rock drummers of all time who has recently passed but you were fortunate enough to listen to the amazing song by an amazing band and one of the world's greatest drummers ever
As someone who has listened to their entire catalogue from to back at least 30 times and worships the ground Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart walk on, all I can say is that you’re in for a treat. One of the most consistently amazing bands to ever release music. They have as close to a perfect catalogue as a band can get.
Neil Peart was the drummer. One of the best drummers ever known. His nickname in the music world was “The Professor”. He could do some crazy stuff with the drums.
So cool and coincidental that you posted this almost on the anniversary of his passing. Just and absolute beast and creative lyricist. An all time great!! Rip Neil!!
Finally you guys checked out a requested band! Rush is amazing. Now can you guys please check out some JOURNEY! Steve perrys voice is mind blowing yet so pure and angelic.

It's so much fun watching the enjoyment you guys get from reacting to these great classics. Rush is probably the only band where each member is in the GOAT conversation for their respective instrument. Alex Lifeson is probably Rocks' most underrated guitarist.
I've seen dozens of these Rush first reaction videos and without fail every single time those who are experiencing Rush for the first time are blown away. It's interesting and heartwarming to see people from all different backgrounds enjoy music that they have never been exposed to.
Thanks for featuring my all-time favorite band. Three of the greatest prog rock musicians to ever grace the stage. I noticed you couldn't resist air drumming! I can't either. Neil was certainly one of the most impactful drummers ever. The logo on his bass drum is the same as on their album 2112. Side 1 was a theme about freedom from tyranny.
Glad to see you jumping into some Rush. There is a lot to check out with them. YYZ, Subdivisions, Limelight, Freewill, Red Barchetta, Spirit of the Radio, Overture etc... One of the best drummers in popular music of all time. Just a 3 member band!
Rush are my musical heros. As amazing as they sound on studio cuts that ere even better live. I saw them live in the early 90s. Hands down the best live act I have ever seen.
Opened up a door you can't close. Rush fans are like a religious cult. 3 incredible musicians. In my youth I wasn't a fan, but I had to respect them. And Neil is arguably one of the greatest drummers who ever lived. They call him The Professor.
Moving pictures was my first Rush album. I saw the cassette at a grocery store back then and begged my mom to get it for me. My mom eventually got it for me, and I listened to it nonstop. When CDs came, I ended up getting the CD version. I just love to see your generation experience this music.
When I first heard this back in 1981 on the FM radio, I was thunderstruck. I had no idea who the artist was. I had never heard of Rush, and it took years before I finally found out who did this incredible song. Thank you for your reaction 😊.
For another rock classic and amazing drummer with a huge drum set you gotta react to "The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again (Shepperton Studios / 1978)" this live version too. You need to see them play the instruments live
Rush has two of my all-time favorite musicians ever. You've got Neil Peart on drums...there's no one better on drums than him, and then there's Geddy Lee on the bass (and lead vocals). He is freaking amazing on the bass. Want to hear a great bass solo? Check out Rush YYZ. Geddy Lee goes insane in that.
I love how you guys all agree that it was the drummer who stuck out and that’s because he’s the greatest drummer in the history of rock ‘n’ roll and usually competes for first place with Led Zeppelin, John Bonham as best drummer Neil was forced to be reckoned with and truly an honorable musician We miss you, Neil Great reaction guys
The day I stopped reading Rolling Stone magazine was the top 100 rock guitarists edition. Number 99 was Alex Lifeson. They ranked Bruce Springsteen at 60. Any magazine that not only DIDN’T have Alex in the top 5, but had the audacity to rank Springsteen 39 places higher, means that magazine truly has no idea what music is.
It's not a pentagram, It's starman from their album 2112, the symbol of the solar federation. By the way, y'all should check out "Freewill" or "The Spirit of Radio." If you want to get into weird stuff, do "2112"
I love Rush. I listen to Heavy Metal, and there is a lot of meaning and depth there, but Rush has something special in their music. Magic. You literally get transported. The only artist I can think of who does this similar is Kendrick Lamar. I know it sounds crazy, and their styles and everything couldn't be more different, but they both transport you via the music man.
That star is their trademark, the cover of their "2112" album. If you search for "Rush Starman" you'll see plenty. PS Rush is my favorite band of all time!
The "star inside a circle" is from their "2112" album, the album that went gold and showed they were a top-level band. "2112" is a prog-rock piece that is 20 minutes long and tells the story of a futuristic society that oppressed individual thought and expression. The star and circle is their symbol. The album was so defining for them that the red star became a sort of symbol for the band itself.
RIP Neil Peart. One of, if not the best drummer, to ever grace the stage.

One of the most consistently amazing bands to ever release music. They have as close to a perfect catalogue as a band can get.
Only 3 times? How about 50 times
@@davezilka1300 I must’ve forgotten the extra zero at the end hahaha! Though you lose track after a while!
I love watching you guys. And your minds are open . Rush had the best drummer EVER!
I saw them and that was the most drums I ever saw anyone play
Neil Peart was the drummer. One of the best drummers ever known. His nickname in the music world was “The Professor”. He could do some crazy stuff with the drums.
So cool and coincidental that you posted this almost on the anniversary of his passing. Just and absolute beast and creative lyricist. An all time great!! Rip Neil!!
Finally you guys checked out a requested band! Rush is amazing. Now can you guys please check out some JOURNEY! Steve perrys voice is mind blowing yet so pure and angelic.
The star on the drum was a their album logo for the album 2112. Its called the Starman.
Neil Peart and John Bohnam, two of the greatest drummers of all time. I guess I can't forget Richard John Cyril Allen from Def Leppard, dude has one arm! ONE ARM!!!
THE DRUMMER FROM DEF LEPPARD'S ONLY GOT ONE ARM!! THE DRUMMER FROM DEF LEPPARD'S ONLY GOT ONE ARM!! THE DRUMMER FROM DEF LEPPARD'S ONLY GOT ONE ARM!! THE DRUMMER FROM DEF LEPPARD'S ONLY GOT ONE ARM!! THE DRUMMER FROM DEF LEPPARD'S ONLY GOT ONE ARM!!
Greatest drummer of all time ⏲️ !! I got to see them many times !! Fantastic concerts 😍 !
Look at any list of best drummers of all time and you get Neil Peart … RIP to the best to ever do it
Rush are my musical heros.
Two good songs in one day. I'm impressed.
I was blessed to see them twice. God is great. Thank you God for giving me the opportunity. Ell never forget the experience.
Neil wrote most of the bands lyrics, pure genius, awesome drummer RIP
When I first heard this back in 1981 on the FM radio, I was thunderstruck. I had no idea who the artist was. I had never heard of Rush, and it took years before I finally found out who did this incredible song. Thank you for your reaction 😊.
For another rock classic and amazing drummer with a huge drum set you gotta react to "The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again (Shepperton Studios / 1978)" this live version too. You need to see them play the instruments live
I'm glad you guys enjoy the pride of Canada, RUSH!!!
They didn't even comment on the fact that Geddy Lee both played bass and keybord in the song. One of the best bands ever. Period.
I've seen them play live twice. What you get in the studio is exactly what you get on stage. These guys know their craft.
Neil would tell you there is not a (best) drummer.
...because there is not one.
Watching them live was incredible. Getty singing, playinjg bass and keyboard at same time. So glad I saw them.
Neil Perit was and is the Greatest Rock Drummer Hands Down.
Normally I would agree with you, but he is a very close second to John Bonham.
Danny Carey from Tool, gentlemen
RUSH... GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME 👍
You started listening to them... welcome to the journey. Believe me it will be great 👍
The craziest thing about rush is the fact that they can make this kind of music with just 3 people
Chances are live there was a keyboard player in back...their music got more and more keyboard over the years
@@ruthietreselan In those cases, it was sequences that Geddy was controlling via footswitches.
@@doodechannel4024 yep that too
Geddy and Alex said they considered adding a keyboardist but never did.
Intelligent rock and roll with all the bombastic killer jams. Glad you guys see them for what they were.
This is their studio….I saw Rush live 5 times…they’re different.❤️🎼❤️watch them do it live….seriously they do it all- live🔥
I love how you guys all agree that it was the drummer who stuck out and that’s because he’s the greatest drummer in the history of rock ‘n’ roll and usually competes for first place with Led Zeppelin, John Bonham as best drummer
Neil was forced to be reckoned with and truly an honorable musician
We miss you, Neil
Great reaction guys
They are amazing in concert, Rip Neil Peart
Rush- the BEST musicians in music history. So much talent in a 3 piece band.
Preach
That's the best drummer, you will EVER see, right there! RIP Neil Peart! Rush = astounding!
It's not a pentagram, It's starman from their album 2112, the symbol of the solar federation. By the way, y'all should check out "Freewill" or "The Spirit of Radio." If you want to get into weird stuff, do "2112"
Yyz, Red Barchetta, 2112, Vital Signs, Freewill, Spirit of Radio,.. Trees/Xanadu (from Exit Stage Left)
You just made my 53 year old husband so happy. Huge Rush fan. We ❤’d watching you guys break it down. You guys are darling!
That star is their trademark, the cover of their "2112" album. If you search for "Rush Starman" you'll see plenty. PS Rush is my favorite band of all time!
Great to see these guys feeling what I felt the first time I listened to Tom Sawyer. Awesome.
Indeed i might be wrong but do they call the man inside the star man?
@@francoisregis2155 I believe so.
What up guys..coming from the home of RUSH, Toronto Canada. Cheers to y'all for keeping the jam alive.
I loved that you were all enveloped in the song and you didn't even have to pause it. That means it's good. No fart reaction is awesome. 😄🙄🤘
Oh lord!!! Cracking up as I think back to them all jump when he farted. That was hilarious!! 😂
Sooo proud of ya'll! Thanks for keeping great music alive!
