  • I found significant damage underneath my car, and my factory skid plate is now missing! Thank you to EVAnnex for helping me get a replacement skid plate put on to protect the underside of my car. These plates are made out of thick aluminum and will provide a lot more protection than the factory plates.

Installed Mountain Pass skid plate in front on MY for $350 plus $100 install at local tire shop. No damage past 2 years traveling gravel roads to trailheads in Sierras so far. It’s important to add this type of protection in your Tesla

M6 means 6 millimeter diameter of the thread, 1.0 means 1.0 Centimeters (length of thread). For USA people. 1 inch = 2.54 centimeters. It can't be called a U-bolt because it's a nut. They are using "Flat Head" screws in those locations because of the thickness of the metal, it is the ideal thing to do for 2 reasons, first, because it's recessed, objects wont hit it and damage or sheer it off. ALSO, flat heads have a lot of surface area on that taper. When you tighten them... they hold extremely well! You would think they're welded in there!! You would not want those coming out and puncturing a tire. I am a Tool & Die Maker and I use Flat Head when I have thin material which I'd like to hold down without having a head protruding out and colliding with something else in the die. Another thing, if someone plans to keep their tesla for any length of time and is actually competent enough to work on their vehicle, they could raise their vehicle and remove the panels. There are several metal parts down there which look to be rusting. If they are sprayed with "Fluid Film" which is in an aerosol can then there will be no rusting. It must be the Aerosol Can version because that is the version which is NOT water soluble. Only needs to be done 1 time. Very nice Skid Plates... no matter what the cost, the protection they'll serve would more than make up for it in the future! the difference in weight is truly insignificant. There are people who carry all kinds of extra stuff in the car that is pointless and it's in there all the time... so it is no different. I don't own an EV, I will one day but still, seeing this accessory is something that I will remember for the future! Living in Canada, in winter the road is full of hard chunks of ice that form behind the tires of vehicles, left on the road and having those smashing your wiring and pipes would certainly damage something. I watched a video where the driver side coolant pipe was cracked and leaking. He replaced it but I know there is Self Fusing Silicone Tape. They have extremely strong versions of that tape, capable of holding back thousands of PSI. If there is a leak on a pipe like that, instead of a costly replacement. Just clean the area, wrap the tape over and over while stretching to the recommended amount. Let the tape rest for a day, the tape becomes 1 piece and would surely hold strong enough that the pipe would once again work fine. Tape is cheap, replacing that pipe at the dealership is far more expensive. Just thought I'd add that because I have used tape like that in the past and it works amazing. Military uses it in it's Hummers to repair pipes, hoses etc on it's Hummers in the battlefield... it obviously can't be bad !!

I had no idea there was that much sensitive wiring and things up above the factory flimsy skid plates! Good idea to switch to full aluminum!

Let us know over time as you drive the car if the Aluminum Skid Plates will reverberate louder (harmonics/frequencies) when you hit something on the road, i.e., rocks, road debris into the cabin and make a tinny noise that's unpleasant?
    Thx👍

I’ll report back if there are any issues. I’ve had it installed for about a week now, and so far there is nothing to report. It’s completely silent.

But how did you damage the factory skid plates 😮😂

Easily. Factory skid plates for a 2019 model are made from fiber board. Easy to rip and weaken when wet.

Nothing worse than a person who has absolutely no idea what they are doing, now making videos telling you how to do things!!
