Even though I don’t care about making my legs look longer, I really like how you presented these tips. You never make women feel badly about their natural selves, which is amazing.
Great video! Like you, I am tall (178cm) but my legs are disproportionately very short. All your tips are precisely what I do to create an illusion of longer legs. One variation I’ve found is that there is an extremely precise length of skirt that falls just below the knee which is flattering on me - but I have a half centimetre range to get it right! One thing that I find tricky with respect to legs is the length of winter coats. I’d love a video discussing the illusions created by different styles and cuts of coats!
I feel you! I’m the same height. Additionally because of elongated hips and torso I in most high raise trousers are not high rise for me and waists in dresses are always too high almost like there is no space between underbust and waist
Thank you so much for this video Justine! I"m 5" tall and I was on the verge of buying some slouchy, pleated pants. That would have been a disaster on my frame! You not only saved me from looking like I was wearing clown pants, but also kept me from looking even shorter! This was a really informative and valuable video for us vertically challenged women. Love your channel!
I have been enjoying your channel for several years. I appreciate how you provide examples of heels and flatter shoes, as I cannot wear heels. Thank you for all of your hard work and relevant inclusive fashion tips
I love this channel. It's been a favorite for years. I'm always looking for ways to help elongate my legs at 5ft 6in. Best tip ever, start walking long distances for exercise and your legs will look great!
I was interested in your comments about wider pants giving an illusion of width. I'd been thinking the same thing - the style is super trendy this season but wide legged trousers really don't flatter me at all. It was a good reminder to trust my own judgement when it's screaming at me that a look is wrong for me. Thanks.
Reiterating my disagreement with high waisted pants/shorts/skirts, from my previous comments. I have a rounder butt with a bit of a belly. A high waist squeezes my natural waist and pushes out my belly. Even if not a tight fit. But yes to the straight leg, or slightly boot cut pant with a similarly colored shoe, to visually extend the leg. I also love a pair of tights with that technique under a skirt or tailored shorts.
Dear Justine, thank you very much for the advice. I am personally not that fond of short shorts and skirts, especially in summer ( and public transport in summer as well ^^;) because longer and straight cut clothes create a nice breeze when you're moving. They also provide an extra layer between you and the seats. I opt for straighter cuts, that are high waist and around knee length (even though I am petite). It has proven to be the most flattering and comfortable compromise to me. I hope it can help someone else. I'm really looking forward to your next video. Greetings from Germany. :)
A practical point! In the US desert southwest as well. I wear mid thigh shorts and skirts, but (leather, faux leather) car seats get very hot, if they've been in the sun!
I am petite and my legs are longer than my torso, but still is tricky to find the shorts that are flattering, so, once you find them, you love them, keep them, and preserve them if need be 😁. I loved your video, thanks, Justine 😊
@@daisy9910 I am on the verge of pear and hourglass shapes however, but I have a short yet pronounced waist. This means I always have to highlight my waist. 🙂
Hi, dear Justine! Thank you so much for another amazing video!!! Would you consider doing a video on tips to combine pieces of clothing that are considered ''out of style'' to make them look more current? I refuse to get ride of my skinny pants that are in perfect condition and have very good material, but I would like to make them feel more current. You look beautiful in black and white, btw!!!
How long have skinnies been out? I know they're old news but I still have tons of them. I have small kids, so I live in my own fashion world--just don't have the mental energy to update my wardrobe yet.
yessss more body shape content! I'm petite with a very short torso/long legs and a big belly (apple shape). it's hard for me to find anything that fits, because it's either very tight on the tummy or loose everywhere else.
I’m the opposite I have a large backside but a smaller waist than the trousers that fit my bum. I suggest you getting the closest size to your legs and getting a seamstress to expand the waist to fit. I get trousers too fit my lower hips size then take in the waist.
I love this kind of videos. I'm a plus size pear with quite some tummy, so the skinny high waisted jeans are not for me, but I wear a lot of A-Shape high waisted skirts and I always make sure to go with the shoe and thighs tips mentioned in the video, that works quite well for me.
Justine, you speak with such authority and confidence; a true artist. All of your suggestions are noteworthy. I certainly follow them as I am making the transition from professional horseman to dressing well again. Thank you. I’ve also learned so much about color. What I’ve been wearing was the opposite of what looks best for my coloring. I matched my hair not my skin tone. You’re a fantastic professor whose class I won’t miss for the World!
Bon Jour, Justine!. Yes, my legs are shortest from the knees down. I like bootcut jeans but know they do not exactly lend to the illusion of lengthening. Heels are rarely worn if ever. Straight legs, to me, look weird because of my dancer calf muscles. Love those b&w flair leg pants near the end of the video! Always appreciate your input. ✨
I love your channel and you style suggestions, however I am older and really cannot wear mini skirts or short shorts, yet I am short - 5ft 3 in with narrow hips in relation to my waist. Would love to see a video for us older women. Thanks!
Merci, Justine! Great advice for longer-looking legs, which we all want. I had to smile at the tights part, because since I was a young girl, have I always worn them in winter whether or not they're in style. So this year, I'll be less stylish, I guess, but I'll still look nice in my tights. 😊 I love how your advice is always clear, logical, & easy to follow. You're an inspiration, as always.
Fascinating Justine. I have to do the exact opposite as l have legs like a giraffe and a very short torso. It's taken me years how to work out the visual tricks and you have it all in one video. 😄
Haha! I wouldn't say mine are like a giraffe, but they're long enough for me and sometimes I would rather not accentuate that. So yeah, sometimes I deliberately make choices to make them look shorter. I admire "legs for days" on other people, but sometimes I just want to blend in, you know?
My mom has disproportionately long legs and has always been self-conscious about it. I feel uncomfortable wearing short shorts and I don't own any skirts any more, but as a 20 year old I would wear mini skirts and heels and my legs went on forever ♾️.
Thank you Justine for this! I love your fashion "education" videos-they are so helpful and I learn, or am reminded, of so many tips. Also-has anyone mentioned since your return to France there's a tiny strengthening of the French accent to your English? It makes me very happy as I visualize your daily life there ❤️
Thank you so very much! I'm grateful for the info on all body types, so I always feel empowered and confident in my choices. People always say that it doesn't matter what others think of you, but if you want others to trust you or have confidence in you, your look will instantly communicate "yes" or "no"...
Dear Justine, thank you very much for the video and great tips ! Also would you please share your facial skin care/makeup routine in one of the future videos? I absolutely love your fresh, natural , minimal makeup classy look. Thank you! 🌹❤️ Elena.
Thanks for this video. I'm 170 cm, long torso, with a slightly thicker thighs (and that slight thickness is enough to significantly shorten my legs so much so that people are often surprised that I'm 170 cm).
That's me too, but 2cm taller! Look like a giant sat down at work, stand up and I'm not so! Justine's tips about straight leg trousers (& mini skirts with tights, if I am feeling brave) are excellent.
Thanks for this video! I've heard a lot of times in YT that cropped or above the ankle lengths has an slimming effect, but I've always felt the opposite. I rather wear my jeans almost touching the floor, despite the trends and avoid ankle boots like a plage! About skirts, I think there is a point just below the knee that is very flattering and also more comfortable than mini lenght. Not so elongating, I'm afraid
Haha, I am 152cm & even though I have long legs for my proportions, they look short haha. So thank you so much, Justine 🙏🏼🙏🏼 anyway, I just collected a bunch of timeless skorts & they're flattering for girls like us. Have a beautiful rest of your November 🍁🍂🧡💫✨
I have pretty short legs but I found that ankle boots with dips in the sides really help elongate my legs visually. Straight cuts don't work on ankle boots on the other hand. And mid-calf boots aren't great either.
I like to wear high waisted wide legged trousers (crease is a must in my case, as it’s basically a slimming vertical line) with mid-heel shoes or chunky platform boots. It helps to visually elongate legs and suits me very well. I’m very petite, but my body proportions are good and I usually can wear wide leg pants and midi skirt length. I can even try and make cropped pants look well on me. The most important thing to pay attention to (in my case) is high rise/high waist.
I am probably equally proportioned. Maybe a tad shorted waisted. I am 5'1, 66 years old and at my age I don't find shorter skirts appropriate. The skirt I feel best in is a high waisted pencil skirt just an inch above the knee. If I have a black skirt, black tights and black shoes it does give the illusion of being taller. Your videos are very informative.
Thank you Justine! Love your videos, creativity, and perspective; and so appreciate how hard you work. Thank you for what you bring to our world, it's refreshing and inspiring.
the question of proportion vs perception is so interesting. I am not tall (165cm?) but I have an athletic build with square shoulders and longer legs than torso. You would think high waisted pants would make my short torso look ridiculous but I find that wide high waisted pants balance me out. I think it's less the visual illusion (because that would work against me in this case) and more that the high waisted style makes me feel well-dressed and move with better posture, and also reads as a style choice so you "can't tell" if my waist is really that close to my chest (it is 😅) or if the style of the pants is just exaggerated. One proportion tip that helps a lot if you are also trying to balance a sporty shoulder is chunky boots with a square or wide toe, especially if your pants taper a bit towards the bottom.
Hi Justine, in a future video could you give advice for short-waisted people. the current fashion for high waisted pants does NOT work for me so it's difficult to find pants and shorts that fit properly. Thanks in advance ☺️
I love this idea so much Justine! Can I ask something? Do these tips change for us plus size gals? Because, while I almost always wear high waisted pants and skirts, I don't always find that my legs look longer, so I was wondering.
Please give advice on how to dress when you're overweight and apple shaped! So many plus size gurus are pears and can rock the "just cinch in the waist" method, but I can't (I'll just look like a beach ball with a belt).
Thanks for this! For me the hard part is, that I know that high waisted pants make my legs look good but I have big breasts so the shorter tops make me look very bulky. Doyou have any tips for that?
I think tights are super practical in places that get cold. I always have a hard time finding comfortable and good quality tights that won’t immediately rip, though. Do you have any advice on finding good tights?

Hello! I made a discovery about dealing with dark or puffy under eyes. I tried it all, concealer, makeup, shiny drug store stuff, highlighting, even cheek colors etc. ok. This is so weird to me but…I bought some Chantecaille products because my aging skin needs pick up more often now. I bought “Sheer Glow Rose Face Tint”. I put it on a few days, okay, it was very nice. Good thing bc of the price. But then I put it under my eyes as well. It evened out the dark areas with the puffy areas so at least there is not the color distinction between the two!!! I removed it and tried Jillian Dempsey Lid Tint (Dew) which I love for it’s shine on the eye lid. It did not work at all for removing anything about under eye bags or darkness. Did the Chantecaillle again…. It worked again. Thought I’d pass this on bc…. Love what you do here Ms. Justine!
Love watching and listening to your videos Justine. Thank you! Always full of practical advice, delivered in your very-easy-to-listen to tone of voice. But, tights are not in fashion this season!!! 😯. What to wear then with skirts and dresses?
Thank you so much for saying that palazzo pants and ankle length pants are wrong for short legs. The number of influencers who say that showing some ankle skin elongates the leg...I didn't know why that was wrong for me, but I could see for myself it was horrible. Then I found out I was short, 5"1" and long torso, short legs. Pretty much a nightmare, but now I know WHY certain styles don't suit me and what to do instead.
Hi Justine, an unrelated suggestion. I noticed that it is hard to find nice scoop or U neck T shirts. It would be great if you would design some, like the one you are wearing but scoop neck instead of V neck. In my opinion, they are the most flattering. Love your videos! Bisou
Yay, I can keep my mini skirts❤. I’m petite with short legs and an hourglass shape, I don’t think long legs are in my wheelhouse but that’s OK, I have other areas that work better for me. I have problems with high waisted because I’m busty and high-waists mean my boobs start where my pants end and that doesn’t look great. Still lots of great ideas and I will look forward to your body shape videos to come.
Thank you for this useful information. What I’m more curious is, what fits for which age and occasion protocols. I’m 35 years old and confused sometimes, which shop is for what ages? I’m anxious if need to go shopping so knowing where, do I go directly would help so much. Thank you in advance.
I have a challenge for you Justine and I’m happy to offer myself as a model! I am 161cm with 116cm upper bust, 133cm bust, 116cm waist, 141cm hips. I am short waisted. I think there are many women who are my body type so I’d love to work with you to show what works and what doesn’t. I have backdrops, lights and a camera. I’m a graphic designer so can work with you on it professionally.
It will be very useful tips for me, I am 180cm, but always look shorter. Now I know why I love the bootcut so much! Do you have tips for finding the right high waisted jeans that feel comfortable sitting down on a chair? I really love the look, but can’t stand them when I am sitting and I have a relatively flat stomach.
That sassy hair flip/toss or what have you though 😀! Well this saved me from trying to play with wide legged pant outfits. The upcoming planned videos will be a nice reset for styling our bodies again, woohoo!!
Thank you for this video! I am tall, but I have a long torso. My hip bones are at the same height as my friend who is 8 cm shorter than me. 😅 I am buying so many pants now before the high-waisted trend goes out of fashion, because the super high waistlines really help balance my proportions. I wish I'd known this years ago.
I am tall with short legs lol. I also have quite a large bust. To balance it out I don't try to emphasise waiste and I wear flowy tops with lots of draping around the hips (I don't have hips sigh). For the effect I'm after I tend to wear skinny jeans. And I think it's okay. I also love a statement shoe even though they have a shortening effect.
Another tip I heard from a shorter statured UA-camr regarding denim (but probably true for any bottoms with a zipper fly)... choose pants that have the zipper all the way down to your crotch as opposed to the zippers that only go halfway or three-quarters down
Even though I don’t care about making my legs look longer, I really like how you presented these tips. You never make women feel badly about their natural selves, which is amazing.

the question of proportion vs perception is so interesting. I am not tall (165cm?) but I have an athletic build with square shoulders and longer legs than torso. Justine!
Dear Justine, you're the best. Thank you for your great suggestions. Keep going 👍☺️
Thank you! 😃
Love watching and listening to your videos Justine. Thank you! Always full of practical advice, delivered in your very-easy-to-listen to tone of voice. But, tights are not in fashion this season!!! 😯. What to wear then with skirts and dresses?
Loved this, thank you!
Your videos are simply brilliant. Very smart and funny at the same time. Love it. Merci!
Bisou
Thanks for talking me out of wide leg pants! Almost made the plunge.
I do LOVE your tips videos, but Justine your hair! I need to know how you got your hair that long and beautiful!
Thank you Justine! SO helpful! x
Thank you for this video. I learned a lot.
All 5’2” of lil ol me needs this video😅 thank you Justine❤
Justine, thank you! You are really credible 🙏
Thank you for this useful information. What I’m more curious is, what fits for which age and occasion protocols. I’m 35 years old and confused sometimes, which shop is for what ages? I’m anxious if need to go shopping so knowing where, do I go directly would help so much. Thank you in advance.
Merci beaucoup pour vos astuces et conseils ❤
How nice to see you again
I have a challenge for you Justine and I’m happy to offer myself as a model! I am 161cm with 116cm upper bust, 133cm bust, 116cm waist, 141cm hips. I am short waisted. I think there are many women who are my body type so I’d love to work with you to show what works and what doesn’t. I have backdrops, lights and a camera. I’m a graphic designer so can work with you on it professionally.
Great tips! 👍 merci!
Dear Justin! Can you please do a video dedicated to short torso? :) Love your work, Hugs from Hungary
You are pure gift Justine 🥰
❤❤❤thanks Justine!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😁
That sassy hair flip/toss or what have you though 😀! Well this saved me from trying to play with wide legged pant outfits. The upcoming planned videos will be a nice reset for styling our bodies again, woohoo!!
Thank you ❤🎉
Loved your video
Nice tips. Thanks!
Justine I'm really happy with this video. :) Love it very well explained!
It's always interesting how we can trick the eye. Thanks.
Wonderful informative as always. Question did you make a video on neutrals after those for warm and cool colors? I can't find. Thank you.
Christmas in the south of France video please?
Very helpful, thank you 🥰
I am tall with short legs lol.
Love your content 💖
Another tip I heard from a shorter statured UA-camr regarding denim (but probably true for any bottoms with a zipper fly)... choose pants that have the zipper all the way down to your crotch as opposed to the zippers that only go halfway or three-quarters down
I think this kind of zipper extends your torso, not your legs...
Adidas sweatpants (with long vertical 3-stripes along the sides) for my legs!
very true, these stripes elongate the legs!
Great topic, thank you Justine❣️
This is my issue forever and I agree with your tips whole heartedly 🥰
Love your video! I'm a five foot 0 inch woman, not only have short legs but very large bust! I struggle to find clothes to compliment my figure 😔
