I am moving to Queretaro in 3 weeks. I have been planning this for 5 years and have spent a great deal of time researching where, in Mexico, I would land. I got my residencia temporal a couple of weeks ago, and it was quite easy. I am Mexican American by heritage, so it will not be a big cultural shock. I spent my childhood summers in Vallarta, and my teen vacation years in CDMX and Guadalajara. I am not happy in the US for a number of reasons, and I am quite sure that my retirement years will be well spent in Queretaro.
I’m very happy for you. It’s seems like you did your research and you executed your plan. I hope that you enjoy your retirement. Stop by and let us know how it goes once you settle in.
Wonderful. I found a house within a week in a development about 20-25 minutes away from Centro and within walking distance from restaurants, stores, a gym, fruterias. Very glad I made the move! @@jaredt641
I’ve been thinking about going to Mexico for years. I am learning Spanish. I live and work in California. I have visited Mexico a couple times and really loved it. I lived in Spain one year. I don’t use star bucks or mcdonnalds. I don’t really like chain franchises too much. I prefer more authentic shops. Mom & pop places. I want to visit Mexico again and get a feel for what it would be like to live there.
Update : Texas has no income tax , and we just got a 41% reduction in property tax . And we are paying $ 2.39 / gal for gasoline . Texas is enjoying a tremendous budget surplus while Californians are subject to dramatic tax consequences both present and future in order to help pay for their unheard of budget deficit brought on by the left socialist govt. I still have dreams of going to Mexico . Thank you for your vids and keep em coming . Que Dios lo bendiga ! !
I want to visit soon. I am tired of the insane cost of rent in the USA. (Especially California. Like $2100 a month for a crummy studio apartment with no space). Or a room in someone’s house for $900 or more. It’s become and unreasonably greedy nightmare here. So many are leaving. I’d really like to visit Mexico and see what it’s really like plus, I’m very sociable. I’ve been working on my Spanish for years now. I’d love to be fluent.
Mexico gots it plus and minus. When compared to California, Mexico looks like a poor country. But where Mexico can beat any US city is on it family centered values and how chill thighs are. Sometimes it takes time to get use to it. Being on time if a foreign word to them lol 😂. But in a way that’s what makes Mexico. If possible try to live in a city you like for a month or more to get a feel for it. Visit the city in different season sometimes the heat or the rain can drive people crazy.
Hi Vic Harry from Canada. The interest rate truly does fluctuate every 5 years if that's what your mortgage is at or if you have a 2 year mortgage then your interest rate can change. Can't wait to get to Mexico from Canada selling my place. Take a look at us Mountain Creek Ranch Bancroft Ontario Canada
Yes that’s crazy. I just found that out last week. I guess it works well when it’s going down. But once it’s down there’s only one way to go. Thanks for leaving a comment and sharing
I just read that the average Social Security monthly payment is now 1700.00. It also seems that that data doesn't show the rent in the Lake chapala area which is more like 700.00 to 2200.00 per month for a 2 bedroom place.
All the cost of michoacan is very bad since I was little boy I hear many bad things about the cost of michoacan morelia is not that bad I hear many people from usa move to retire there
Thank you for comparing prices. I have wondered what my cost would be when I make the move to Mexico. I live in Az and can tell you for certain that my electrical bill is much much higher than what you have on your list, especially in the summer time.
The Mexican Dream is the yearning of every Mexican immigrant, to return to the mother nation to be close to the cousins, the abuelos and the crazy tias.
What kind of work? Probably a good idea to look at remote US jobs. I would think that manual labor jobs wouldn't be a good option. I guess you could target expats from US who do not like Mexicans! 😢

That’s great that the average SS is now 1700. Maybe I’m talking to people who are below that average. Thanks for info
I'm from michoacan like everywhere good places and bad my town is near lake chapala in michoacan side
I’ve been wanting to go to Michoacán up in Morelia. Do you recommend it? My son in law is from Lazaro and says it’s pretty bad.

Lol so true. I really miss being around my people if that makes any sense
How about jobs that will sustain you.
That’s a very good question. The unemployment rate is only 2.0 or so. So jobs are available you just have to find your area of expertise .
I am currently looking for an online job that I can do in Mexico for an international company. Customer service is my specialty.
