I Don't Care is an album by Buck Owens and his Buckaroos, released in 1964. It reached Number one on the Billboard Country charts and Number 135 on the Pop Albums charts. The single "I Don't Care" spent six weeks at number one.
The album features a duet with Rose Maddox as well as lead vocals by Don Rich and Doyle Holly. It was re-released on CD in 1995 by Sundazed Records with two bonus tracks, both instrumentals from The Buck Owens Songbook.
"I Don't Care (Just as Long as You Love Me)" is a 1964 album by Buck Owens, and was his fourth number one on the country chart.
Alvis Edgar Owens Jr. (August 12, 1929 - March 25, 2006), professionally known as Buck Owens, was an American musician, singer, songwriter and band leader who had 21 No. 1 hits on the Billboard country music charts with his band the Buckaroos. They pioneered what came to be called the Bakersfield sound, named after Bakersfield, California, the city Owens called home and from which he drew inspiration for what he preferred to call American music.

I had no idea that Buck Owens could pick like that. Holy smokes...
In the wonderful glow of Don Rich, people often forget what a great Musician Buck was.
I never knew.
Buck was the lead guitarist on a few hit records during the 50's
Buck taught Don guitar 😮
It's my Understanding that Buck Owens taught Don Rich to play lead Guitar. When I was a kid noodleing around with an old guitar my Grandmother had, She sent away for a Book and 45 rpm record by Buck Owens on how to play guitar.
Merle Haggard said it himself that some of the hottest Lead Guitar came from Buck Owens in Bakersfield in the Mid to Late 50s.
Never knew Buck could pick like that!
Same here
Buck Owens was an accomplished guitarist. He wss an excellent rhythm guitarist but had no problems playing lead guitar parts or instrumental pieces of music on the guitar. Buck Owens really was an outstanding musician.
When Buck said, " I'm a-pickin and I'm a-grinnin" , he wasn't foolin'.
Its absolutely absurd how quickly Buck's fingers can fly up and down that fret board
All while being fucked up and under the influence too!!! Badass country boy right there. I watched him many times when I was a child and he'd always bust out his flask and take nips in between every song!!! Great performances until the very end.
Who knew ole Buck could play like that?!!
Buck taught Don lead guitar, Don started as a fiddle player
When Doyle 1st joined in with Buck He was a fiddler that knew a few guitar chords. Buck was a L.A. session lead picker years b4
As a citizen of the UK, I am amazed to read comments from Americans who had no idea that Buck was an accomplished guitarist or that he played this himself!
@leoseries57
As a citizen of Texas, along with many other
NE Texans 'round here,
we've known for years, way before Buck was a
household name..... that he was a hell of a
picker. But thanks for
listening mate, and.......
Howdy 👋🤠
from 🇨🇱 Texas!
Just incredible. A gentle reminder that Buck was a fantastic guitar player! Thanks for sharing. Made my day.
Buck Owens foundation in Bakersfield is currently selling the Buck Owens Crystal Palace 😢 hopefully someone in the country western industry buys it or someone who cares about it does so.
The album mentioned was "Buck Owens -- guitar player" and featured all Buck on lead. He was the lead guitarist for Tommy Collins before starting his own career. And the tejano influence here is obvious.
Not many people realize that Buck could really pick a guitar. And that Don Rich started out playing the fiddle! They were great!!!:) Thanks for posting this!
Buck and Don together...back in the day....was like THUNDER AND LIGHTNING...Master showmen
I heard somewhere that Buck played guitar for Gene Vincent at one point, later on in the 50s or early 60s. I've also got a Tommy Collins best-of that has guitar credits for Roy Nichols, Joe Maphis, Ferlin Husky, Don Rich but mainly Buck.
The good old Telecaster!
I went to Country Music Festival, here in Australia, on the weekend.. A left handed picker there, by the name of Owen Blundell, swapped his guitar for a right hand one and played this tune with the strings upside down... never missed a note.. it was awesome.
One of theC.W. stars that got me hooked at a young age, besides Mom&Dad.Still enjoying the music today.Thank you
Damn, Buck was a shreddin it up way back before I was born! Everyone nowadays should know who he is. I play Buck Owens music all the time and most people don't even know what it is, what a shame.
What. A very Tellent man.
I recall reading somewhere Buck actually taught Don Rich guitar. Someone correct me but any way you slice it the Buckaroos were a great band.
Buck was an in-demand session player in L.A. before he ever became a bandleader.
I like Buck's songs, but didn't realize he could pick a Tele like that. Great job!
The genius of Leo Fender.
The man on the bass guitar deserves some big credit too!!
That is a very simple bass line…
I think the bass player in this clip was Wayne Wilson, who was filling in for Doyle Holly.
This is strange in that it's all Buck picking the lead. There is another video on UA-cam with Don and Buck both picking lead. Don is just playing rhythm on the acoustic in this one.
The lead is slightly different at the start of this version.
He's shredding. Imagine if he got his hands on an electric guitar and joined Pantera. I'd pay to see that!
I'd certainly love to see someone try to get him to play metal! Buck is quoted as saying that he "shall sing no song that isn't a country song" and "make no record that isn't a country record"
Used to play lead for Tommy Collins
Alvis Edgar Owens Jr., conocido como Buck Owens (Sherman, Texas, 12 de agosto de 1929 - Bakersfield, California, 25 de marzo de 2006), fue un cantante country estadounidense.
I didn't know Buck could rip like this. Great stuff!
Amazing.....I was fortunate enough to see Buck a few times in Bakersfield before he died. Even after a stroke he was a great showman. Thanks for posting this!
a lot of people didn't know Buck taught Don Rich to play lead guitar.
Buck Yeah!
Didn’t know he could play guitar like that! 2018.
What a Great Musician.............rip
Imagine if Don's Silver sparkle tele could tell the times not only deadly Don played her but Buck and god knows who else...........
dam i didnt he could play like that thanks for postinging
It is really good to have a video of Buck Picking the old Silver Speckle Telecaster. It goes to show what an amazing musician Buck Owens truly was. This video shows the true magic of what great musicianship really sounds like, and not only that he looks like he was having fun, and that in the end is what playing music is all about.
As a kid, when I used to watch this show, Buck looked kinda old to me. Seeing the clip now, I was startled by how young he is! Great music in any case, and he kept making it for decades. Anyone remember the Blackjack Wayne Show?
I see a lot of comments about how Buck taught Don how to play lead guitar. And I'm sure he did show Don some things. But Don was already playing lead guitar with some bands where grew up (in the Olympia, Washington area). Not to take anything away from Buck.
Buck was Wynn Stewart's guitarist, just after the second World War.
If Don&Buck were still w/us,I'd love to see them duke it out w/Junior Brown!
Would just be a fun jam session.
@@bumpysfriend
Because you know Jr would wear both of them out.
@@bigroy38 Sure!
Buck Owens was one of the best .Great stuff
Give me that old time country any day

BUCK🇨🇱 OWENS
Youv'e been Thunder Bucked!

I 'knew" that(re Buck) but still I had no real idea. You're right about Don Rich, he was the greatest, period. Thanks for this QueenOfCountry
WOW
A legal test for any guitarist, excellent playing, also a great version by Declan Nerney and also by Clem Quinn & The Miami Showband.. 🎸🎸
Legal.. should read real.
Thanks for sharing... I always assumed Don Rich played this one, how wrong I was!
Get it Buck!
Buck Rules !!
Wowww, man!
Holy cow! Let's see your Steve Vai types try to top THAT!
OH MAN THIS IS SOOOO GOOD!!
I appreciate this post! Don was usually the Hot Shot Guitar player while Buck would lay down an awesome Rhythm. I think I once read that Buck showed Don a thing or two on the Guitar in their early days. Any of our other Viewers have any information about this? All I know for sure is I love Buck and his Band.
Roland Cook When Buck discovered Don, while on tour in Washington State, Don only knew how to play fiddle. Buck got him to join his band, and he taught Don to play guitar. This was just before Buck had his first session for Capitol, about early 1959.
Buck was one of THE Guitar Slingers of the West Coast Country & Western scene and a much in demand studio Cat. Merle Haggard said "Some of the Hottest Guitar ever laid down on a track was by Buck"
Weren’t Buck and Don play harmonized lead guitar on “Buckaroo”? A year before the Beatles did on “And Your Bird Can Sing” and several years before the Allman Brothers and the Eagles.
Roland, I'm reading 'Buck 'Em' - Bucks autobiography. He tells lots of stories about all that, and yes, Buck taught Don, but then Bucks says Don got so good he couldn't play alot of the licks Don ended up playin'. Highly recommend this book, line after line of an amazing life!
you have just wittenessed perfection!!
Thanks for sharing this video! Bravo! :)
first song i learned! sporto from the band crimes in graceland
He is playing electric guitar with no amp thats crazy
cool
Wayne Wilson on bass.
The Bass playing on this was top notch
Can we please get a clone hero chart of this?
wow i fogot about this music.Somewhere i have roy clark pickin an grinning he is also so good...peace
This would be shredding before metal!
That’s the original Thunderstruck
Well shit howdy!
Buck more or less left the lead work to Don Rich and then whoever was either in the band or whoever they had on Hee Haw. Had a great career so no worries.
Poi è da citare anche "Guitar Polka" di Learco Gianferrari, veloce e forse più difficile della "Pizzicata" citata più sotto.
Foot spasms are real...
Niclas Olofsson you know it 👌
Buck: I'm tired...
bucks polka hit from highway (holland) is great, see it on you tube
bey bey blondie I love you so. is also a hit from highway, see more
Seems to be a little bit to fast.
How could you polka to that? It's too fast. It was played wwll, though.
He stole this from Eddie Van Halen......................Just kidding. Awesome stuff. Buck is California cool.
