Best clothes, best guitars, best smiles, best chickin' pickin', best Bakersfield harmonies, best lyrics - Buck and Buckaroos with Don Rich are the best.
I think these guys sound better than anybody. They sing as one. Don Rich died in Morro Bay at Hwy 1 and northbound lane of Yuerba Bueno. I always pay respect to Don Rich when I pass by. I bow my head, and say, "You gotta tiger by the tail" and still it doesn't even show the respect...
The great Don Rich would be 77 today-when i first listened to this,i thought he flubbed the start of his solo but he was just modulating-i love it,and so did Buck!!!!That's Doyle Holly[R.I.P] on bass,Willie Cantu on drums and Tom Brumley[R.I.P.] on steel.Buck hired Don as a fiddler as he had played one since he was a child, but then Buck[R.I.P] taught him his guitar style and this was the result. To me,he was one of the best,if not the best sideman ever.
@@larryjohnson6265 Check out Wynn Stewart doing It's Such a Pretty World Today with Bucks band-he was the school teacher for Buck and Merle. On the studio cut he's got the great Ralph Mooney playing steel-he played with Waylon till he died.
This may sound odd,but it's true....I've even got a handbill to prove it. I was privileged to be able to see this great band live at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, back around 1969. They were the only band on the bill, and were just superb all night. Folks kept walking up to the stage with request slips, and Buck and the boys played em all. One great player who was influenced by Don Rich is Bill "Hot Rod Lincoln" Kirchen from the Commander Cody band. There are many videos of him here on the Tube, and he's well worth the time spent watching him. He still tours with his trio,Too Much Fun. Not to be missed!

is there any videos on here where don rich just goes nuts and does his best jimi Hendrix impersonation ? I bet this guy could surprise a lot of people.

Don Rich was amazing
I really like the way those two guys get together and harmonize.
Buck Owens and Don Rich together, could have played a childhood rhyme and hit the charts with it.
Pedal steel is so fire. Don’s solo is absolutely killer. Listen to this in 2020 you’ll feel some type of way
Don Rich... an amazing talent.

Gotta love Tom Brumley and his pedal steel guitar.
I don't listen to any buck after don. and from what I've read I don't think Buck would blame me.

That magical sound was gone...
