Your videos are relatable - most of us have tangles, hook trees and blank quite frequently, so it’s refreshing to see our heros having the same experience.
Oh no, my name was first and I didn't win!! That's alright, it would have been really difficult to come from the U.S. for just one day's fishing, no matter how much it would have been worth it. Watching your show is a good enough prize for me. Thanks IB and Andy!!
Well done sticking it out and catching a few fish, good to see a video with you fishing in less than ideal conditions and highlighting what worked and what didn't. Better luck next time IB.
Hi both - I fished my local river on Sunday and it was a bit higher than normal. I tend to fish nymphs - across and down on the swing (noticed you don't fish like that) and found the fish were not in the main flow but further downstream from where I'd expect them in summer - had 3 good size grayling and 5 small ones. I noticed in this video that IB was fishing much faster water than Andy, so maybe I stumbled on something important for fast winter flows. I'm pretty much a novice and feeling my way in river nymphing, and your videos are a great incentive to get out there. I have the french leader now and indicator but just need to push myself and try that style. This vid was great for showing the takes. Would be good to see more time spent on the flies used - need to stock up!
I think Andy hit it on the head with fishing the soft water, and the inside bank. I have often encountered those kinds of conditions and found success with the same tactics. Thank you both for the great video.
fished exactly the same spot yesterday. I realised it was cold after three hours when I tried to get out and realised two things 1) I could not feel my feet and 2) my waders were leaking !! Plenty of grayling yesterday, I think I had the better of the conditions :). Great video as ever guys
In your blogs and vlogs you talk about the many advantages of swapping to a 10 ft rod for dry fly & Euro nymphing. Here you are again with another 10ft rod, so a question if I may If you can only afford one 10ft rod that’s needs to do both styles , which of the two weight options makes more sense as a do it all rod ? a 10 ft 4wt for a standard euro nymph rig and an up weighted 5wt line for the dry fly or the 10ft 2wt for a standard euro nymph rig and an up weighted 3wt line for dry fly ??? Which option is least compromised? Fishing small rivers in Derbyshire and Staffordshire (Dove, Dane etc) Thanks
IB- put your staffing Wade on a retractor, if you have a D ring on your belt to you left hand rib it’ll sit nicely and not get in the way ......... great Angling in high water conditions btw👍
Thanks for the vlog. I don't think IB should feel too bad as there are many people who feel uncomfortable and slightly insecure about wading deep enough in heavy water conditions and this can make a big difference to catch numbers. I really appreciate the information that you share but wonder if it would be possible to produce a vlog showing in detail. what is seen on the french leader strike indicator, when a fish takes. thanks, David.
Hey thanks another great vid.I fish mostly the Tonga in NZ however I have noticed as the water rises the fish lies change and as I figure that out my catch rate increases.tightlines Steve.
What great fun you make it ! I think you should move swims every hour, and guide IB in very difficult conditions, i wouldnt have tackled the swim IB did, very brave of her. Grayling are so much more fun than trout.....
😂😂 love the competitiveness of you pair and congratulations to the competition winner. Andy, that one fish that you “let hang” to catch! Get on with ya! 😂😂 as if that’s was fished for 😂
HI IB and Andy, first off congrats to Ethan for winning the comp, well fished you two sorry you didnt catch IB but i do think that Andy could of given you the heads up on where the fish might of been before you went on camera, not sporting old chap ha ha ha ha ha, thanks to you both Alan.
Love your videos. 🎣 A big grayling to you there is a small grayling where iam on river tweed! Any fish under 3lb is a wee fish lol 😂. But well done guys keep up the good work. 🎣
Okay I go away for awhile and here is IB doing her Trump impersonation! "I was robbed!!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 IB you are so competitive and you worry so much. Let me tell you this, first you are a National Treasure! When a person finds a partner who can fish right beside him or her and fishing is a passion, it just gets no better. Believe it or not you are a role model to a young lady out there somewhere who looks to you for encouragement and instruction. You may never know her or meet her but she will be out there. It is okay for her to learn you can be beautiful and a fishing person at the same time. She watches your videos and it reassures her. You are both excellent role models! I hope you see this as time goes on. Love to you both!

You are way too kind Tim, making me feel a lot better about my lack of ability 🤣!

Me and my staffing wade 😂😂
Given the conditions of the river, and Andy’s insider knowledge, I think it’s only fair to have a re-match!
Okay I go away for awhile and here is IB doing her Trump impersonation! "I was robbed!!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
