    Video Liner Notes:
"By the time the Countdown video was made, Out Of The Cradle, the album from which it came, had pretty much run its course and consequently, making an involved video for Countdown wasn’t really on anybody’s radar. The video that emerged was done mostly at my house, and feels somewhat home-made. We set up some backdrops, used existing setting in and around my house, and basically made it up as we went along. I don’t believe there was even a storyboard. The Countdown video, with its heavy use of time manipulation and its kinetic sensibility, remains an entertaining, if raw, visual representation of the song." - Lindsey Buckingham

I do have this song on CD, but wasn't actually able to find it in my collection (must have bought it somewhen in the early 90's if I'm not wrong ...); Lindsey and this song came to my mind when I accidentally heared "Trouble" on the Radio today, while driving in my car. Was nice "meeting" him here on YT later on, after quite a long time .... 😊.

1977 I was introduced to this great Guitar Player and singer, Lindsey Buckingham. I was living in Malibu, California straight out of the US Army, NATO COMMAND, Germany. HOme again but, unhappy as hell. Thank God for Fleetwood Mac music and Lindsey Buckingham. Who knew I had some pretty bad memories/issues. PTSD and the rest is history. Years of effort and the help of Fleetwood Mac MUSIC and Buckingham's Guitar Playing kept us alive. Decades later we are all still here......Playing the music. Lindsey must know he's added years to some of our lives. Giving us Hope. Motivation. Feeling the music kept many of us going forward....and never giving up! Thank you Lindsey. Thank you to Stevie to working in the beginning in L.A. and allowing Lindsey to learn his Talent on that Guitar! It paid off ….Bringing the world Joy!

It was a ready made hit. But the politics of the Mac back then and alt music's new styles stopped the support of what could have become a classic pop his on the par or Duran Duran's Ordinary world at that time. It's one of my favorites rock pop productions of all times

My absolute favorite from the Out of the Cradle album. The song has such an uplifting mood and is also one of the most catchy you've ever written. ... And that guitar solo is ... just fantastic! I will never understand why it wasn't a top 10 hit. But never mind: Quality can't always be measured by popularity.

    Mr. Buckingham:
First off I have to thank you. I've been out here since the Buckingham Nicks duo. One could smell & feel the talent coming out of ya back then. And then you transformed & led into the stratosphere the band that has now dissed you.
Sir, you've a big heart that I believe many pieces have been bitten out of. Yet your music is over the top captivating. Your style with guitar is awe inspiring. The depth of your lyrics go deep into the soul, even @ times bringing a tear. And living along side the history of your life is honorable. You sir, in my books, ARE the greatest. Talents above & beyond that which most can understand.
I want to thank you, Lindsey Buckingham. Thank you. Looking forward to what the creative juices bring forth now. Thank you, sir.

If you came of musical age during the 70's, the emergence of Fleetwood Mac, and their transcendently awesome "Rumours" album had a profound influence on most of us. Every one of the folks in that lineup was some kind of musical genius. Recently, I've been listening to some of Lindsey's post-FM (Fleetwood Mac) work, and just sunbathing in his incandescent musicality. When he released "Out of the Cradle" in 1992, the album had all kinds of great songs, but somehow never seemed to get the kind of reception it most certainly deserved. In particular, I was re-listening to "Countdown", and I was struck by the deep poignancy of the lyrics, propelled by a bouncy beat, beautiful harmonies, and Lindsey's refulgent guitar work. Now that I'm older, and maybe there's more years behind than ahead, the idea that "right through your fingers, time slips away" has a special significance. And that, my friends, is the countdown.
And it is my hope that when you listen to this song that maybe, like me, you'll get a little misty eyed when you think about your life, its promises, what might have been, and how it has so beautifully and exquisitely unfolded. May this feeling linger

I bought 'Out of the Cradle' about twenty years ago and fell in love with the music on it. I think I drove my Mother, Grandmother and other family members crazy listening to it on repeat. The CD got misplaced when I moved and both my Mom and Grandmother have now passed away here in the last three years but this music is timeless and Lindsey has a gift.

The same thing Jimmy Iovine did for Bella Donna and The Wild Heart. Two albums that are classics. There have been songs Stevie herself yanked from FM because she didn't like the direction LB was taking them. Turned around and put some on solo albums and sold a million plus copies. As for never thanking him... I don't think she needs to, if she really hasn't. Her songs with FM and presence helped line his pockets as well as the rest of the band's. My absolute favorite Lindsey Buckingham song. I read an article about this album. Like others he obsessed over every detail of this album. Out of the cradle is a musical masterpiece. People today just wanna talk shit about Lindsey. Because of the drama between him and Stevie in the past ppl ignore his talent. But Stevie had more baggage with Don Henley (look up that drama worse than Stevie/Lindsey. I mean ppl also forget Christie McVie also stayed in the bad with her ex husband John.) Lindsey is a true artist. Just like Peter Green was with the first version of Fleetwood. Both totally different but both equally musical geniuses.

This was from one year ago- he had just been 'released' from the band, filed against them for wrongful termination because they cost him a lot of money for the tour, won the suit, then had emergency open heart surgery (his brother & father both died of heart issues) during which surgeons accidentally damaged his vocal cords & there was a possibility that the damage was permanent. He took near a full year to recover, released a 5-album vinyl record set with a few previously unreleased recordings & had just announced a Spring U.S. Tour when the Pandemic caused it to be delayed due to his recent health issues. As far as I know, he was not sick just cautious & fully recovered his voice & the tour will go on as soon as the stadiums can be filled. All this at 73 & going strong!
