Lindsey Buckingham's unique guitar style is so much of the magic of this song

no it's the bass, trust me
@@veronicaalleyne Not only do I trust you Veronica but I think I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!
Lindsey Buckingham is gorgeous
That riff is addicting to listen to, lindsay Buckingham is an absolute genius.
It aint a 'riff'
@@jens2049 it's a riff, it's played on guitar.
Yes, it is a riff. A riff is a repeated chord progression or refrain in music so by defenition its a riff
@@xenoxia just because a tomato has seeds doesn't mean you put it in fruit salad.
Context is important. You jam out to this all you want, keep your definitions. Compared to the contemporary definition, it's still limp.
RIP Christine. Thank you for giving me meaningful 80's childhood songs.
RIP Christine McVie 😭😭😭😭
R.I.P. Fleetwood Mac
No Christine, no Lindsey 😫
I had to find out in a UA-cam comment... wth.
Was he a Christian?
The chain has finally been broken
The hell u r saying?
One of the most creative music videos i have ever seen. Great guitar playing, singing and melody from Buckingham. This song exemplifies his musical genius. RIP Christine McVie.
Too bad they never played it with electric/ lead guitar only acoustic
FLEETWOOD MAC ARE UNDERATED!!! 1.26 m subs ???? They deserve 50m MJ has 26m with 10 videos FLEETWOOD were the greatest band of the 70s and 80s
I forgot about the reversed time ending!
Very cool 😎
Has a band where each member has ever offered so much. 💚
Micks drumming is delicious on this. He's such a well timed and very clean sounding drummer
I first heard of Fleetwood Mac in the 80's (when I was a teen) and this song was on their "Tango in the Night" album. I bought it on cassette and listened to it over and over. I liked it so much I shared it with my parents. I was sure they would like this "new band" I discovered. When my Dad heard the name of the band he laughed and laughed and then let showed me the "Rumours" album on vinyl.
I love that story!!!
Your dad could have showed you even older albums, too! 'Rumours' was their 11th LP.
Check out 'Then Play On' from 1969 if you haven't already.
Celebrating this song in light of Christine's death.......... SO GOOD
Timeless...classic...sad to see her go
She was such a force ,even tho she wasn't as up front as stevie...little lies is one of my fav songs....bless you Christine for giving us the gift of your voice, your talent, your songwriting. You will be missed....
@@rainman42 Little Lies is my favourite too.
She did many from Save You Love Me,You Make Loving Fun to Everywhere to As Long As You Follow matching her awesome Voice with that of Stevie a well oiled machine Fleetwood Mac are and were
LOVE. CHRISTINE!!!
Mick Fleetwood is one of the BEST drummers ever!
And, by his own admission, he's an 'accidental drummer' 😮
One of my favorite Fleetwood Mac videos. Lindsey Buckingham is a true musical genius. Way underrated.
can we all just take a second and acknowledge how cool and creative the music video is?
@T. E. ikr
I like how it rewinds at 3:06.
I'm too mesmerized by the fretwork, some of the best guitar work I've heard. Love the live acoustic version!
The 80s music videos were the best! It was a great time to be a teen! 💖
@Leona Leona - ABSOLUTELY! ; )
R.I.P. Christine McVie. Another great loss to the music world. What left me shocked was that I was thinking about her just days before she passed away... I am listening Fleetwood Mac today in her memory.
Lindsey is an absolute musical genius. Fleetwood Mac just isn't the same without him.
Exactamundo. Truth. Without him they look and sounds like a cover band. With him they sounds like one of the greatest band ever.
Please, as if Fleetwood Mac wasn't a combination of many musical wonders.
Peter Green is best
Stevie’s my favourite but they all made great songs….the band was full of talent man
I agree people underestimate how much arranging and producing he did on everyone’s songs.
Missing Christine 😥 🕊what a devastating loss, had to come on here tonight and listen to some FM. This is one of my faves and Lindsey's voice is sublime 💕
This song is such a masterpiece, I think I like this version the best, the drums are just so damn smooth.
And Mick Fleetwood would be the first to admit he's no drummer..
These drums are programmed in a drum machine. Lol.
As good as Lindsey's live version is, this is a track that can only be done justice to truly by mixing in the studio. Studio version is easily the best...pure sensuality and that beat laid down by mick.
“Oh I’ll build you a kingdom, in that house on the hill.”
Man I love this song.
I love this song too. 😍
And loose it all as well
Rest In Peace, Christine Perfect. Never has a surname suited someone so much 💔
The talent of Mr Buckingham is staggering to me. I could watch his live performances of this OVER & OVER & OVER & OVER & OVER...
I love Lindsay Buckingam
The real "tragedy" it's that neither the band nor him went here in Italy and I really don't understand why. 😩
Buckingham is criminally underrated. Genius singer/guitarist/arranger/producer.
As is Nick's overrated skirt swish and raspy vocals.
@@doniellestenson3502 She was snorting coke with Mick when she did bother turning up during the recording of this album. The skirt swishing was the final straw for Lindsey!
His solo version is ureal ❤❤❤
An caustica gustar became an orchestra in his hands
He’s so under rated that he has one of the most well known albums of the past century, lol
Truly a classic so unique...this is great ❤
Tango in the night. What an incredible album!!! Mystical and surrealistic.
One of the BEST! The beat is intoxicating, and I never want it to end. Wishing everyone here "Big, Big Love." 💝💖💗💞
How can everybody ignore one of the most underrated bass players in pop music? John McVie is killing it!
When yuo have luck not fu
that thing he does in Dreams where he changes his bass line right when Stevie sings "wrap around your dreams, and..." is sheer brilliance.
He is a v sexy penguin
The brilliance of the rythmn section is often overlooked. Mick Fleetwood too: the master of understated groove.
I think part of it is that he didn't seem to get quite so long-term angry about band politics as others, or at least was a tiny bit less outapoken about it. He and Christine have what seems like a very functional working relationship together, which is perhaps overshadowed by the very public and ongoing Nicks/Buckingham fallout. Plus it's easy to overlook just how important he is to the sound, as a lot of people don't necessarily really listen out for or know how to identify the bass.
The amazing thing about Fleetwood Mac is that they were able to produce so many hits no matter if Lindsey, Christine or Stevie was the lead. The songs led by these singers all have a different vibe but are obviously brought together by the band and the talented musicians they are. This song is not the first most think of when they think of FM but it showcased how talented Buckingham is as a vocalist. We know he’s good as a guitarist.
That is why the band is so great. They have 3 singer song writers. They all bring something to the table. They are all amazing. There is something for everyone. For the most part they each sing lead on the songs they wrote.
Who's listening in 2024, this music is timeless. Fleetwood Mac.
❤
I loved this song that came out 5 years ago and still it now in 2024 😊

Of course.... How else did he land Stevie. Lol
100 % what a guitarist and so Underrated.

Drop dead gorgeous!
Tango in the Night is a very overlooked album. I know they peaked with Rumors and got weird with Tusk, but this album was a brilliant capstone to their work.
Their 2nd best album after Rumours in my opinion.
@@Darwaxion Tusk is by far their best

I totally agree. I was just a baby listening to their music. I'm 41 now. But I'm always gonna love Fleetwood Mac. 🌷🌻💖
Lindsey Buckingham is a genius. Listen to how he describes love - like a predator about to attack him. Pure genius.
and i agree with him. thats why i love his music
On his guard , yep understand that!
To bad he cheated on his girlfriend.
Oh man, and he was sooo right! Predator indeed@love
I mean, I don't know if that qualifies as "genius" . People have been making that analogy since ancient Rome.
But we all like Fleetwood Mac, so we can agree on that 😉
Love this song, but love Lindsey's solo live version even more. Seeing him in 2006 was absolutely one of the best concerts I've ever been to!!
I saw him a couple years ago - he was amazing!!
Man, looking back at it... Fleetwood Mac was one of the only 60s/70s groups that really adapted well to the 1980s and brought something to that decade instead of just trying to adopt the sounds.
Omg.. Mr Buckingham what a voice 😮♥ #Respect 🙌.
What a Band 🔥💥💖.
Lindsey Buckingham voice is so sensual, awesome!
I 💜 him!!
Bleusaphire, você sabe me dizer que ano essa música foi lançada?
@@mariogomes9547 1987, on Fleetwood Mac’s Tango in the Night album
@@Monteray9 obrigado! Valeu!
He is the reason for their hits. Dude is a straight up musical wonder.
Not true though is it. While he certainly played his part, if you look at who wrote what he wasn't *that* integral to their music and song writing. Great guitarist, mind.
Apparently he was also a pompous ass, hence the dismissal...who knew?
they're all perfect together
Uh actually they had hits in the 1970s before he was a member.
Fleetwood Mac is one of those bands that basically is a band of individual songwriters who are talented musicians in their own right. Each has their own style and it makes for a very diverse songbook because their styles are so different which I think is the key to their success (similar to Queen). I love Lindsey (I much prefer the acoustic version of Big Love on The Dance though) and tend to like his songs the most but some of their greatest songs were not written by him. Dreams was written by Stevie, Don't Stop was written by Christine and Lindsey only had three songs on Rumours (arguably their best album) with Go Your Own Way his only hit.
One thing I will agree is that the addition of Lindsey and Stevie put the right combination of people together to make Fleetwood Mac a success. Different versions of Fleetwood Mac were kicking around England for a long time following the British Blues trend with some minor success. Adding the Americans made their music change to a more unique sound which pushed them away from the crowd.
A masterpiece ✨️
Is this the best Fleetwood Mac song ever ? Or just the best song ever. Truly Love it and it never gets old. Musical genius.
Stevie’s always just like: 💃💃💃💃💃💃
I quite literally slapped my knee laughing. The accuracy.
😆

The most erotic song of Fleetwood Mac and a great XX century masterpiece from the handsome and beyond talented man, Mr. Lindsey Buckingham...I love it! I love this amazing band more than ever...Thank you for the music and for being in my life since 1988- when I was 3 years old, almost 4 until now and counting...!
Seriously… This is one of the greatest videos of all time.
I love his guitar riffs
Just here to say that the mansion at the beginning of the video is the Kimberly Crest mansion in Redlands, CA. It's a beautiful mansion that was donated to the city by the Kimberly family, co-founders of the Kimberly-Clark paper company (Kleenex), and is now a historical landmark for people to enjoy.
P.S. this isn't a copypasta, I'm just a nerd and nobody else brought it up.
I cannot get this song out of my skull nor do I want to. This song is very addictive. I rewound the cassette in my car over and over again all summer in 87. I find myself relapsing again.
The all acoustic, solo version of this during The Dance tour is one of the best things ever recorded
Totally agree! The emotion is so much more raw when it's just him and his guitar. Well, that and the fact that his guitar work there is off the freaking hook.
Lindsey Buckingham is so talented as an artist that you don't know whether to cry or grin at how good he is........
A unique band with a peculiar kind of Music 👌🔥🔥👌
This was a complete showstopper when he would do this song in concert. Just Amazing!!

I went to see Fleetwood Mac in Dublin back in 2019 and although they were amazing, without Lindsey Buckingham playing his rifts and singing, it just took the edge off. Greatest band in the world in my opinion and always will be, this song will always be my favourite
Lindsay has amazing voice
Magical. In a dark dream way. Takes me to another place every time. Only Lindsey can do it.
It kinda feels like Heaven in the 1980's.
This song, imagine yourself on a fan boat out in the swamps of the Everglades. The sun is setting. The 'Glades are a BAD place to get lost in the dark. Better hurry. That sunlight won't last much longer.

Lindsey, nobody plays guitar like you bro, they can try and replace you but they won't be able to.
They had to have 2 guitarist to take his place
Ain't It a shame that they fired him??
I love how each member has a real input to their own song and style in the group. 🌹

Everything that ever happened is underrated hey
I can distinctly hear Christine McVie's voice in the background vocals. Rockin' that keyboard! Cool vid...minus the skirt twirling...Jesus, the least they could've done was give her a friggin' tambourine to bang on.

Mick's simple drumming coupled with Lindsey and Stevie's Vocals is a recipe for musical greatness!
I think you'll find Lindsey played all the instruments and did all the vocals on this track, as well as a few others on Tango, e.g. Family Man
Yeah Stevie wasn't in the studio so he did the ahs and pitched them up!
Fleetwood Mac are:
Lindsey Buckingham: guitar
Christine McVie: keyboards
Mick Fleetwood: drums
John McVie: bass
Stevie Nicks: skirt

more like lead vocalist but okay
•elena• yessss
@@babs6244 ehhh, I don't know. She didn't even sing a note on this song. Her big singles that she sang lead on were Rhiannon, Dreams, Sara, Gypsy, and Seven Wonders. So I guess we're going to ignore Say You Love Me, Go Your Own Way, Don't Stop, You Make Loving Fun, Tusk, Hold Me, Big Love, Little Lies, and Everywhere since they had Lindsey, Christine, or both singing lead.
@@alexherbst9477 I think that *elena* was alluding to the fact that Lindsey should get the credit as lead vocalist since the only thing Stevie added to this video was again, her skirt.
I bought this album back in the day just for this song.
It's weird how in the 70s, Lindsey Buckingham looked like the most typical 70s dude in the world with his afro and facial hair, but then in the 80s he looked like the most typical 80s dude, like some kind of power broker on Wall Street or something, lol.
