Stevie kicked him out , she gave the ultimatum to the rest of the band either Lyndsey goes or she herself goes . There is a youtube video where Stevie states this. She says Lyndsey wanted to choose the specific dates where and when to play and where and when not to play for the band . This was unacceptable she says , it was not Lyndsey's tour but the bands tour . She has a point.

@@aprildannette3816 Fleetwood Mac delayed a previous tour to accommodate Stevie Nicks’ solo tour dates, but wouldn’t do the same for Lindsey Buckingham! This shows who really has control in FM - it’s not a democracy. The Buckingham/McVie album was originally supposed to be a FM album, but Stevie Nicks couldn’t be bothered, yet they couldn’t use the FM name… They used the name for the ‘Say You Will’ album without Christine McVie. Nicks has too much power in the band and as a result we won’t get new music from them as she ‘doesn’t see the point’ (her words).

It wouldn’t be one random tidbit dropped in one random interview and never to be heard about again. Also the way you categorized it as part of a strategy for a career move. Hooking up with John McVie would have done absolutely nothing for her career. John never had that kind of power within the band or outside the band. He’s a pretty low key member of the band and within the industry, not some big mover and shaker or career-maker. She didn’t sleep with him. This appeared in my "Recommended For You" section. I hesitated clicking on it.... immediately having preconceived ideas without hearing one word, one note. What a fool am I. This has been the most incredibly raw, heart-wrenching pure, gutsy, inspirational 45 minutes I have had the pleasure of watching during this this 2020 sh** show. In the midst of an unprecedented year, the ramifications of which none of us truly know the magnitude of yet, I continue to be in awe of this consistently, ominously foreshadowing talent of Lindsey, whose orbit and art has eerily preceded the documented paths Lindsey has allowed himself to follow intrinsically, in typical Buckingham proverbially "f-it...I'm doing it anyways" fashion, much to the "record industry's chagrin". For me, he has proven to be an artist who has been a few steps ahead, yet often criticized and written off by the media and many so-called "fans" as being reckless, arrogant and presumptuous . I paused to check the published date of this artistic rollercoaster at least 5 times feeling that surely this was created and launched during COVID... only to be reminded once again of how visionary Buckingham truly is an an artist. Thank you, Lindsay. You continue to be authentically pure in the face of insurmountable obstacles. I myself personally cringed watching the range of emotions you plowed through sharing the rejection-filled idiocy phone calls of the so called "music industry" of today. Carry on, Lindsey Buckingham. I feel privileged to have grown up with your music as one of the soundtracks to my life and to share with you via a witness of your artistic journey. Keep taking that road less travelled and being all the wiser for it. You have unselfishly bled your soul, shared your talent, spoke your truth while rolling that same pair of dice, taking a chance that perhaps others feel the same way as you. We do, Lindsey. We all bleed red and we are all the better for it because of the risks you have taken with your art that connects so many people. I think this 45 minutes of film has been the most authentic glimpse inside the sound of this insanely gifted artist. We are losing generational icons at such a fast rate now that it leaves me numb. We need to appreciate these artists while they are still alive and can feel our appreciation and love... not after their gone with tribute concerts and bronze-tinted statutes to sit on a shelf they will never see. Again, thank you Lindsey for all the music. Much respect.

FM without Lindsey is like Rolling Stones without Mick & Keith..Journey without Steve Perry...Foreigner without Lou Gramm. I love this man so much!!!! His gifts colored my childhood, youth, teen years, young adult transition into adulthood, adult years. I can never fully explain the pure love, joy, sadness, beauty of emotion I feel when I see or hear him play. I was blessed to have a dear friend surprise me with a Bday ticket to see Lindsey with FM in Grand Rapids, Michigan before he was fired again from FM. I cried & rocked out the whole 3 hour show!! It was the best concert of my entire life! Lindsey was amazing & FM together were amazing & magical. I was devastated when he was fired for the 2nd time unjustly both times!! Well, you know how special this man is they couldn’t replace him even with two different sets of guitarists. Then he had a heart attack & we almost lost him over the stress of that event. I still am so angry with Stevie & FM about that & the RRHF inductions snubs. No honors or recognitions for Welch or Lindsey. Legends of RR. Lindsey did not get invited to or attend. I know deep in my heart they regret it. Stevie most of all I hope. What do you have to prove? Absolutely nothing. I think you want to prove something!! It is your God given right & gift! You live & breathe music & art!!! You are a brilliant, sensitive, fiery spirited artist & genius architect of music & video. You have an evolving legacy..a definite evolving musical legacy...Lindsey are NOT done yet!!!! I think you (Lindsey) should get out the Master Tapes & improve upon sound quality then re release Buckingham Nicks album. Ask Stevie to help you...it might build a bridge there with SN & FM. I have a feeling you will be reunited again. It’s your destiny.
I would love to see him collaborate with his kids, other famous singers & musicians...D. Hall House. I love the Tusk album, Lindsey. You are brilliant. Much love to you, your wife & kids!!!! I love the fact you love your wife & kids so much. That you chose to take a year off your kid’s Senior year instead of touring with FM. You have your priorities straight. ❤️❤️ FM made a big mistake. You can see he's happy here and the important aspect that has kept him rooted is the family he achieved. When the events that happened when he was forced out of Fleetwood Mac, it's comforting to know that he still has a family there to keep him right. He'll bounce back and I'm looking forward to his new studio album. Interesting when he states "If there was one thing that was a shame in Fleetwood Mac, I would say it would have been the fact that we were ultimately not doing what we were doing for the same reasons." A statement that would still stand true today in the wake of his firing from the band.

Humble genius, was so generous to so many.
I would love to produce him if I had a studio. I would know just what to do. His weakness is the same weakness of FM. He needs to stop burying his vocals. His voice is brilliant and needs to be laid on top, driving the song. His voice is his lyrics, his melody, his rhythm, and his guitar playing.

To fully understand the man (Lindsey Buckingham) you have to concede he's perceived by others (who have worked for/with him) as an "asshole." He was/is uncompromising and probably the smartest musician in the room. Lindsey Buckingham was never well suited as a "band member," he always believed Stevie Nicks and him could make it as a duo. He was hesitant to join Fleetwood Mac and was talked into it by Stevie Nicks and the association grew as a means for him to financially survive. Lindsey Buckingham is very talented and gifted. The wealth and fame, in his eyes, are the by products of his talent but the goal! For him, it has always been about the music, his music, and that's something he only shares with like minded people, who have share his vision (his fans). You don't release six solo albums with subpar or very mediocre sales without a care but Lindsey can because he has zero interest in commercial success. The solo releases are platforms for his live shows, which are phenomenal! He is by all accounts a true musician and artist of the highest order!

Thank you for posting this. I have been trying to find out if his voice has come back at all. So many think he wanted the Stevie type career. I disagree. He needed to be true to his ear for music as art. I think his anger came because he loved a woman who quit loving him. He had to see her all the time with lots of different men. That hurt him deeply. Most would have left the band to save his breaking heart. He produced Christine and Stevie's songs. Making them hits. Stevie is a very self absorbed woman who lives a life surrounded by people who feed her ego.

Artists who chose to drive the popular music intro the ground certainly missed an opportunity to expand musically - even to the point of - what do we have today? Spoken word. No instruments. Hate-filled lyrics. Creating a generation of misogynistic men and the women who let them lead. Sad.
