Very useful videos Jaco. I have already done some of the stuff shown and you're spot on 😜 Rocam is a tough little engine, quite remarkable in a number of ways. It also has a few irritating features 🤣 The concentric slave cylinder being one. A honda Ballade takes 10 minutes! That plastic thermostat housing. Actually the plastic parts in general but this is everywhere nowadays.
Thank you very much for this video I am doing my timing chain, cv joints axal completely new, my Bandam is making a rumbling noise when she starts up, so I hope by replacing the timing chain and components with the oil pump that that should be gone otherwise it's in the head, but I don't hope so. Any Ideas it sounds like the oil is priming for the first couple of seconds, MY 1600 Bantam has 300 000 km on the clock and.
@@katelynludwick speedometer sensor sits on the gearbox between the engine and firewall. It has plastic thread so be careful not to strip the thread when replacing it. (Ask me how I know)
On the concentric slave cylinder there is 2 ports. One is the hydraulic input. 2nd is the bleed valve. You will need 2 People. Depress the clutch Pedal. Open the bleed valve to release pressure. Close bleed valve. Release clutch pedal. In that order. Depress clutch pedal. Release bleed valve. Close bleed valve release clutch pedal. Repeat till all air is removed.
Hi, Jaco.. This ws a great video especially for us who are learning about motor mechanics... I also wanted to ask you whats the issue when you pour brake fluid and it leaks from the gearbox after putting new thrust bearing in the ford ikon 1.6
Basically, the same as breaks. there is a bleed valve on the clutch slave cylinder. get the laaitie to pump the clutch while you open and close the bleed valve. let me know if you do not get it right.

Hi Jaco . Ek leer maar die harde manier maar hoeveel boude het die 1300 bantam starter . Ek het 3 uit maar kan nie nog een sien nie , my starter skop nie in nie. Jou channel is great . N mens sukkel om ouens soos jy op youtube te kry
Die Starter motor het net 3 boute. (ek het gou in die workshop manual gekyk) Ek kan nie presies onthou nie, maar ek dink een is n ander lengte , so kyk net as dit wel so is, dat jy die langer een op die regteplek trug sit. Gewoonlik as jy die bendix met brake part cleaner uit spuit en klein bietjie olie gee werk hy weer. Ek dink hy raak "sticky" van die clutch plate liner material wat af kom daar in die bell-housing. As hy vas sit na die 3 boute uit is, tik hom met n dead-blow hammer dan behoort hy uit te kom. As ek reg onthou gaan een van die radiator pype ook pla. Ek probeer nou onthou van n paar jaar trug. sterkte en laat weet as jy nie reg kom nie? En as jy weer aan mekaar sit moet die boute op 35Nm ge-torque word.
Hi Jaco, great video,you are my mentor lol. I did an engine overhaul including changing clutch kit and the slave cylinder however I'm getting no clutch. I tried bleeding it however the clutch is not getting hard. Please help me buddy. Thank you
The reason for the engine overhaul was due to a blown head gasket however the bantam is still heating up pass the half mark. I removed the thermostat and installed a new water pump. The fan does come on and stays on for long and there after the head gauge rises pass half mark. What could be the problem? Thank you again.
The clutch is an absolute ball-ache to bleed. You need to be 2 people. Get one of the kids to depress the clutch pedal to build up pressure then you bleed off the air on the concentric slave cylinder. But note it takes for ever.and bleed it again a couple of days later.
@@JacoBadenhorst @Jaco Badenhorst I used anti freeze coolant and I have not changed the cap due to the cap seeming to be sealing fine, should I replace that? And I purchased a radiator flush today so I will try that as an option and I'll keep you posted.
@@JacoBadenhorst I managed to get some pressure on the clutch pedal however it won't select any gears and I did not remove the gear selector because I had removed the engine block and replaced everything there including the clutch. Any ideas?

Sorry about that. There is no place to film down there. It is basically the same as bleeding brakes. Get your son or someone to pump the pedal while you open and close the bleed port.
@@JacoBadenhorst No problem. I did learn that I'm never changing my own clutch haha. I did do my waterpump last weak. That was easy enough. I thought bleading my clutch may help since I'm stuggling to engage second. Sometimes it will go but usually doesn't.
@@gerritgeldenhuys2763 yes bleeding the clutch isn't to much work. Give it a go. Hopefully it's just air in the system and not the clutch plate itself.

@@percym011 if brake fluid is leaking from the gearbox, the slave cylinder is probably shot. You will have split the engine and gearbox to check.

You mean "Bleed the clutch"? i go through it in the video. it is a bit of a ball-ache. best to have someone help you.
