Creality Cloud has a 3d scanner feature & is available for Android. I tried to share a link to it in the app store with everyone, but the comment keeps being removed, so I can't share the link. It has a Photoscan feature which allows you to scan objects for 3d. Haven't tried multiple samples yet, but the object I scanned seemed to work well.
I’ve been waiting for a video like this! As a ZBrush user, Nomad sculpt has been a game changer for 3D sculpting in the industry. You might not finish the sculpt in it, but EVERYONE starts one in Nomad. And with the scan - sculpt - print workflow, the stuff we can do now still blows my mind. Awesome vid!
Thank you for making 3D modeling accessible for a noob like me! I have always been so afraid of 3D modeling, but it's nice to see someone without too much experience get great results!
This was really meaningful content. It’s inspiring to see you learning how to 3D model as well. I’d like to see more scanning and editing mesh files for practical 3D prints like this!
Much appreciated for the feedback. I figure as I continue to play around with new tool, I will share the experience here as it might help someone else along the way!
So I started watching your channel like a good while back and you had a video that was like a rudimentary version of this idea, just sizing a mask to your face. Even that little bit seemed like Greek to me. I'm super excited to say that in the last year I've caught up! All of this makes sense now. Also, congrats on your own design skill growth!
Just started really looking into 3D printing, and saw this vid. Years ago friends and I played airsoft. We wanted to make custom team masks. This would have been awesome to have had.
Dang this was a lot of fun to watch dude. I am looking to buy a laptop for 3d modeling soon. I have the iPad Pro 2020 but I can’t find many tutorials for the apps that they have. So I will be definitely following your tutorials!
Awesome video! FYI the centre line was off because nomad imports and centres your object across its entire geometry, so if your left shoulder in the scan is slightly longer then your right it will push the centre off your nose etc.
If I remember correctly the reason apple can do 3d scanning and Android can't is because newer apple phones have LIDAR built into their phones. Android sadly just doesn't have the hardware needed for that.
aaaand how do you send it to your 3d printer, why does everyone leave this out. I know its probably simple but only if you are familiar with 3d printing...
Love your channel man, inspired me to start making my own masks. Unfortunately Nomad Sculpt updated the app a couple weeks ago and since the update, Nomad Sculpt and the mask tool doesn’t work like it does here anymore. Would love an updated video on how to make masks with Nomad as I can’t find any tutorials on how to use the app to do this since the latest update.
Very cool use of face scanning, Nomad, and 3D printing! It came out great, looks awesome in the green and orange. 👍👍👍👍 One problem I had with your workflow though… Scanning your face then changing the entire shape by mirroring one side to the other makes this kind of…wrong. It’s not going to fit one side of your face as well as the other. 🤔 You even went ahead and made the mask asymmetrical after all so it makes even LESS sense to have made your face symmetrical in the first place… 😮😮😮😮
This is a great video!! My question: How do you keep the slicer from changing the scale / size of your print? I heard you mention that it needs to be an .obj file, but when I send my file from Nomad to Chitubox, it turns my model into a teeny tiny model, which it then offers to scale to fit the build plate. Advice/knowledge please? Thank you!!
Yooo, that's really useful for making sure your prints are perfectly sized for your head. the halloween mask looked cool lol The app must require Lidar equipped devices right, hence the iPhone only? Idk about androids, but I did know there was a fantastic way to scan an object with an Xbox Kinect Camera running some specific software. Think it allowed to export the model to like Blender really easily too.
@@tadhgd350 oh, that's pretty cool too. I could've sworn some first party phones also have face id sensors, but must be from someone working primarily on Apple hardware so they stick to that. Thanks for letting me know 👍🏼
@@DamnCyrus technically the only phones that have Face ID sensors are iPhone cuz it’s patented, that doesn’t stop other companies from having other types of facial recognition but this app is specific to iOS. I’m sure there’s other apps for android
Nice video! Thanks for inspiring ppl into trying out 3D scanning and 3D sculpting (it’s nowhere near as scary as that mask of yours). :) Speaking Elegoo (the sponsor), I do love my Elegoo Saturn printer! BUT, like you’ve said in previous videos; the USB stick they send you is total garbage!!! TO ALL: Do not use the supplied USB stick for anything except the first rook test print. I’ve only done about 20 prints and the USB stick has already failed, and so did that print (no damage to the FEP). You did warn us, and I thought “how bad can it be?”. Now I know.
If you have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus you can use Samsung's 3d scanner app to scan people or objects. It's not too bad. I don't know if other Samsung's have the depth sensing camera
@@UncleJessy I can't get enough of my scanner. I also have a Creality cr-scan 01 which is better for scanning larger objects like cars. For your application I believe the revopoint is definitely best for faces. You'd be able to stick your head on models and it will be really detailed, loved your video and I have bought the app already. Good fun! Cheers
Mason, What a bargain! Most scanners of this retail caliber start at $600. The handheld unit I use professionally for scanning vehicle interiors for modification is $20k w/ required ongoing service contract😎
@@UncleJessy haha! I'd watch. That hour long tutorial you tried to avoid wouldn't be such a bad idea... Broken up into part 1 and 2. A huge part of our hobby is the digital modeling aspect that so many skip over knowing anything about. It's just run over to Thingiverse, grab your free stl (get your login credentials stolen) and print. More 3d printerists (new word) should learn what you're showing here.
Hey there! You stated that obj. Retains the size ratios of the model. I know this video is not about blender but when I export from blender into chitubox it loses its size. Do you have any experience with exporting from blender and retaining size?
Great info, just grabbed an iPad pro to start designing with Nomad! Still having issues getting good clean scans tho, will try this app you used seemed easy.
Awesome video i really been trying to find a way to do this 3d scan and using nomad to sculpt do you know if this 3d scan app works on the new ipad mini or is it just on the iPhone.
Hey!! Great video, I’ve been wanting to 3d sculpt my face and this is perfect! I got a question, you mentioned primer or sealant for resin prints, what do you recommend ??
how do you scale it properly to fit you face? I tried something similar but had to manually scale the design, does obj export with scale or it's the same as an stl?

Nomad sculpt is available for Android and free to use. I literally just found it.
Has anyone tried printing a mask using the Tenacious resin from Siraya Tech? How did it work?
@@TheStonehammerFiles for sculpting yeah not for 3D scans

What a time to be alive 🤓 The consumer technology is crazy!

Ohh that’s fantastic to hear!
@james which app did you try?
I can do it on my Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 5G also...maybe mines broken 🤣
Thanks for the shoutout Uncle Jessy! This head scanning app looks awesome we're definitely going to try it over the weekend!
That was a bad ass video brother. So freaking cool how you actually design something and then printed it. I'm so getting the app and a new printer!!
Thanks! Nomad sculpt is pretty dang amazing.
Had to pause to drool over the sentinel in the background, super cool
A simple wash of watered down brown acrylic will bring out the details in an organic tone, then clear coat it and it's ready to go.
Indeed!
I keep getting in noninspirational ruts and really this video helped me see a way to do way more in that I can now make more than just pre made stuff
This is literally the coolest thing in the world
Better than expected. wow. love it!
Much appreciated. Now to start practicing more
Love this, First time ever I've been envious of Apple users....
No crap. Almost makes me want to pick up a second hand one just for this..
This video was great! Please do more content on 3f scanning->modeling->printing. I really hate learning to make wearable prints that are way too big.
Really cool stuff! Making of masks from scratch in nomadsculpt is a fraging awasome!
GREAT JOB. NOMAD IS PRETTY COOL I MUST SAY

Glow in the dark mask would be cool for a Halloween mask! Excellent video!
Ohhhh man I totally need to spray mine
@@UncleJessy When I first saw the mint green that’s what I thought you were printing.
@@UncleJessy of course now I’m wondering if a glow in the dark powder or liquid could be mixed with resin and printed.

Love to see the capabilities if 3D modelling on iOS devices!
Excellent Tut on scanning and using Nomad on your iPad to create that cool mask. Would love to see more of these types of tuts.
I would've loved this in time to make a Halloween make for this year
Yeah, unfortunately ran into a few delays
A+ video. This gives me the confidence to attempt to make my own 3D models.

Some Samsung galaxy phones have a 3d scanning app built into the camea option. Mainly the higher end ones though.
