  • I got a lot of requests for this! So here is a very quick introduction to photogrammetry and a rough tutorial to get you started doing decent head scanning. You'll need a phone and some 3D modelling software. Sorry Mac users this ones a free one for PC only. I'll do an Agisoft one for Mac later as Zephyr Free isn't available for Macs.
    I'll do more tutorials soon!!!
    Cameras used:
    Canon EOS 5D Mk. IV (best quality raw scans come from DSLRs!)
    Samsung Galaxy Note 4
    Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus
    Link to Zephyr free below:

    direct link below (as 3dflow website link seems to be dead?)

    I thought the progress on photogrametry would have been much better through the years. I programmed that back in 2004. And it was a tedious process. Esp. camera calibration gt much better these days. Software nowadays got better. But compared to the rapid evolution of other technologies it doesn't look like the accelerators do really care about photogrametry. What I am still waiting for is that some AI is capable of extracting 3D models from movies...

    • @Cloakfiend
      @Cloakfiend  Рік тому

      Its better with high quality dslr photos, but im just using a phone cam for worst case senario. I wish auto masking existed. But defo my current fav easy go to photogrammetry app, thanks for writing it!!. I wish the point cloud dots were larger like they were in an older version. An introduction of some AI to clean up the meshes would be nice! Agisoft does get slightly sharper results but has no inbuilt masking. Takes longer.

    • @SoloElROY

    I have been using the Revopoint POP 2 scanner for a few weeks, but I don't always have it with me, and the camera more often. I think it is a great alternative. Do you think that using additional lighting mounted on the camera can give better results? This works fine for a scanner.

    • @Cloakfiend
      @Cloakfiend  Рік тому +2

      Not mounted lighting. Id just go somewhere universaly lit. Never let the lights near the subject as you will get edge lighting from some angles. Also make sure people wipe their faces from sweat before a scan. Shiny skin is bad. But back on lights, i just look for good spots. If you are good with cleaning up you can get away with some real poor lighting and still get great results!
