  • Lord Louis Mountbatten was perhaps the highest profile member of the royal family to be assassinated and his death made headlines across the world. The nature in which he was assassinated, as well as the other victims who died alongside him has led to this being one of the most infamous attacks to occur during the troubles.

I grew up in the north from 1970-2000 then moved to the US. I’m glad I found your podcast . I’m doing a lot of reminiscing lately all this time later. When I was there I didn’t care: I just wanted out. But now I want to know what it was all about (I mean. I know, but I don’t know some of the finer details). I want to write a book someday so my kids can see it through my eyes, because when I’m gone, that story will be gone with me with just historical accounts to rely on

To be fair, what was he thinking? There was some questions on his security though. I don’t remember the details but something weird happened that day with his security

Wasn’t he recorded visiting Kincora boys home?

From a cursory google it seems that's only been reported recently. If I ever re-release the episode I'll be sure to include that stuff too. This was the pilot, I cringe listening back to it 60 episodes later

@@troublespodcast hey, I can’t even listen to most of my podcasts lol. I think you did a good job here. Pity about the others killed on the boat though

@@troublespodcastoisin why do you cringe when listening to your early episodes? I've just recently found your show and have now gone through your entire catalog and I think you're on point. You make a great show. I think you're being hard on yourself man.

Very doubtful if he ever visited the Kincora boys home.
Very credible allegations that he abused underage boys in Ireland.

@@fintonmainz7845 I think the story is that they were trafficked “from” kincora to the west of Ireland where there was a ring. Shudder to think a pedophile ring existed on the west coast of Ireland

I think you've got your facts a bit mixed up. Mountbatten did face a number of accusations, which have been reported recently, there was nothing reported in the media when I wrote the episode, and I didn't want to post rumours. I believe these recent accusations were in relation to a boys home, and not his relatives on the boat, or the Irish boy, Paul Maxwell

Okay if that's the case why would the IRA also kill Mountbatten's victims? You don't punish a criminals victims when you punish the criminal do you?

You're mixing up a load of different stories. NO there were no serious allegations about the children in the boat.
There ARE Very credible allegations that he was involved in abusing underage boys.
