+1 Lord Peter has a distinguiged Behavior, when he is as himself Guest at a Party. As Death Breadon in his Harlekin Costume he can be more himself. I like Ian Carmichael's Acting in this Role. If sometimes a new Lord Peter Wimsey Series shell get Releases it will be hard to find the right Actor for this Role. Maybe Martin Freeman or Benedict Cumberbatch would fit. Who would chose?
Nigel Havers would have been ideal. Of course they missed the opportunity and he’s too old now, but watch him in Chariots of Fire and you’ll see the perfect Wimsey.
Try reading the book. You may find it even more dated and tedious, but it's just remotely possible you might enjoy it. It's excellently written. The parts about Pym's and advertising are hilariously funny, while the bits about the actual crime and the narcotics trade are terrifyingly sinister.
