I have been practicing this diet for ten months now. I went from 212 lbs to 164. My waist went from 36 to 31, my jacket size from 46 to 42 reg. My glucose from 123 average to 85. I have never felt better! Thank you so much for the great coaching! You saved me! Update- it has now been 14 months and all is well. I decided to add one 48 hour fast once/ month as part of my overall routine. The thing I am noticing now more than ever is my energy level continues to increase. Along with that ambition to get more done around the house.

Traveling in Germany the breakfast bars are huge and the older Germans eat hearty breakfasts with cold cuts, rolls, fruit… fueling up for the day. Could pass for an American lunch. Is granolas and thick yogurts too. They are not a fat population. Drop down to Italy, breakfast bar food quality severely drops with junky cereals and it looks more like an American am cheap food lineup.

I stumbled onto this channel three months ago. Dr Sten has changed my lifestyle for good. I’ve lost over thirty pounds with twenty to go. After the sugar withdrawals it became easier for me. My new motto is if it’s sweet don’t eat. I eat very small amounts of carbs. I try very hard to eat foods that maintain a healthy lifestyle. I’m 75yrs old . I’ve been overweight for the last thirty years. Nothing worked to get the weight off. I would just give up. A final resolve set in when I found this channel. By Golly ! It’s working!. I won’t quit because I understand how my body works now. It has come late in life for me but I feel better than ever. Most likely adding years to my life.

Hi all, I have now started OMAD with two cups of lemon, ginger and cumin concoction in the morning and before bed. Trust me, you will not get hungry. I am someone who ate full plates of rice with every meal for all three meals. I never walked half mile in my life and now I can walk 2 miles easily without huffing and puffing( I am a chain smoker). Rice is staple food for us and I can’t give it up completely, I still eat a full plate of rice ( and more sometimes) during my meal time. I checked my weight on 27th nov and I was 86 kgs. It must be water weight to some extend but I have also stopped having anything with added sugar including coke ( which was my go to drink). Oh my blood pressure has returned to normal 123/79 from a high of 168/100 last week. My glucose had decreased from 348 to 159 even with rice as my main meal. So happy with my progress. Next: I will try to reduce my intake of rice but it will take a while to completely cut it off and seriously if my progress is steady, I don’t think I will cut it off completely 😝

As someone who used to get the shakes and feel terrible if I didn't eat for around 3 - 4 hours, I thought intermittent fasting would be impossible. But by doing it gradually as you suggest I can now regularly go 24 hrs or more without eating. Less carbs = less cravings. Also I do manual work for a living and don't suffer from lack of energy. Also running a 5k after not eating for day would have been impossible before. Now I don't think anything of it. Everything you say is true. I can vouch for that first hand. Thank you again.

Following your circadian rhythm and skipping dinner instead of breakfast also has many great benefits. Your fat burning and metabolizing hormones are higher during the day, and in the evening as we approach darkness hormones such as melatonin which ramp down our bodily functions and prepare us for sleep start to become more dominant in the body. The protocol that I recommend is, work out in the morning fasted, eat breakfast as your post workout meal, do not eat after dark. I lost 70 lbs in one year doing this.

I have never had problems with weight and regardless of what I eat I never put on weight. I have been told for years I am just lucky but watching your videos makes me aware that my own intuition was always correct.
I never eat until around lunch time, cheese cravings before bed & I listen to the impulses my body sends. If I fancy cheese I eat it. If I'm craving spinach? I eat it. Cinnamon? I eat it.
We should stop worrying about what the research says and listen to the body It knows exactly what it needs and which foods are available that contain it. 💚 thank you so much for your wisdom & expertise 🙏

Now when I work in the office, I often eat the first meal at 11-12, then another one at ~8 pm. So that is kind of without breakfast and it does work. I don't feel worse, but also not better. So if it saves money and I do eat less in total, so it should be good.

I always thought I was eating enough and was disappointed because my weight stagnated. Then I got my first diet plan created (I think it was from Dietarize iirc). I realised that my previous food intake was way below my needs, although I thought I'm good. At the beginning it was hard to eat 3000 kcal in a day, but I got used to it. I started noticing real gains and it felt amazing. I wish I'd understood the importance of diet earlier.

I found this channel about a week ago and was intrigued by the video I was recommended. I believe it was about some foods that are bad for you (like farm raised salmon) which was eye opening. I then found a video that recommended intermittent fasting, I believe it may have been a 14 or 16 hr fast. Regardless, I researched intermittent fasting and was surprised at what I found, such as that as you delay eating food insulin levels drop and fat burning increases. This video taught me that breakfast is NOT the most important meal of the day, I had been convinced that if I didn't have breakfast that I would be dragging until lunch. This has been a paradigm shift for me and I started doing 14 hr intermittent fasts earlier this week. During the weekend I plan on doing 16 hr fasts since I usually mope around in the morning and aren't necessarily hungry until closer to midday. I am making healthier life choices that will stick with me throughout my life. I recently subscribed to this wonderful channel and will be browsing through the extensive library of videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us Dr. Ekberg.

On a different note, I knew a guy who grazes all day as he had claimed that he is diabetic. He has type 2 and it was most likely the consequence of him consuming excessive amount of sugar. E.g. he has about 5 cups of coffee per day and he uses 3 teaspoons of sugar per cup of coffee. I had tried to get him to discuss this with his GP but of course he knows better as it is his own body.

I love your channel, Dr. Sten. I have lost 35 pounds, reduced my glucose level from131 to 93 and lowered my A1C from 5.6 to 5.2. Unfortunately, I still have sugar cravings and give into them occasionally. I don’t know if others on low carbs also experience this too. I also do intermittent fasting and do have more energy and focus. Thank you so much for providing all your excellent information.

I can't remember the last time I had "breakfast". I rarely ate breakfast growing up and never seem to crave it. I have been unknowingly intermittent fasting almost my entire life 8pm dinner to 12pm - 3pm "brunch" most days. However, I am overweight and prediabetic because of the food I do eat/snack on between 12pm and 8pm. But, I am determined to become healthy and have taken my family with me in so much Dr. Ekberg has to offer. Adding vegetables (non-starch) and protein to be the majority consumed at each meal while keeping it low carb, reducing snacks to healthy options/low carb, and trying to eliminate sugar intake has been the ultimate goals. I don't weigh myself because it's usually a deterrent for me, but judging on my energy, mood, looser fitting clothes and the occasional second look in the mirror at myself...I feel so much better. Thank you for all the great advice Dr.

Dr. Ekberg, thank you for all ur videos and explaining the science behind getting healthy and breaking down misconceptions.
After watching your channel, I have change my eating habits to eating within 4 hour window, 1-2 meals per day with good fat. I still eat carbs but in limited quantities but I cut out all sugar. So far I have lost 18lbs about half way to my goal.
I feel all the benefits you have mentioned as part of the IF+keto diet. And it is fantastic.
I would like to build a good diet habit for my children between 11-13 years old. Is IF safe for kids in this age group? Also is keto diet safe?
If you could make a video around this topic, I would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

I'd still give breakfast to kids, as they're growing up and can use basically anything they take in, but for sure, as an adult I have stopped eating breakfast for a few months. I definitely feel different in general and less lethargic in the mornings.

I haven’t had breakfast since I was in my 20’s, I’m in my 50’s now, feel great, energetic, alert... I only eat when I’m hungry, I rarely eat carbs, make me lethargic - Bottom line, I listen to my body, hope to live up to 100 as my grandma did.
    Great honest advice 👍

Dr.Sten you are doing a lot for the humanity. You had a big impact in my life. There are many intermitent fasting videos in the internet but you made me to change eating habits. At basic everybody can stop eating between 20:00 to 12:00 which gives a 16 hours break.

Thank you kindly for your thorough and thoughtful videos. Your ideas and eating strategies have won me over because they’re logical and make perfect rational sense. My wife and I are now both in ketosis (very recent) and we are grateful to you for that. While most of our questions have been answered, I have one: I am not overweight; actually no body fat due to daily walks of 2-5 miles (66 yrs old) and this way of eating. I’ve just started the intermittent (18 hour no bfast) fasting, not to lose more weight but to gain some of the wonderful benefits you and others speak of. I’m concerned with being able to get enough fat from the remaining meals that I’ll eat for the nutritional advantage I need. Can we get the needed fat from meals only without relying on fat stores? Is this the direction for those of us that don’t want or need to lose weight? I would also like to increase the intermittent fasting eventually to 24-72 hrs occasionally for autophagy. Again, many thanks for the enlightenment!

Breakfast is actually the most important meal for me. I make some eggs, store it in the fridge or freezer for the next day, then wait until the afternoon or after my workout. That way I can still have breakfast.

@@doroparker1702 Not true. I boiled some eggs and put them in a container and they tasted fine. You can't do this if you're frying the egg. You have to put it in the freezer if you do. There are videos on keto meal preps. You can look them up when you get the chance.

@@afrikasmith1049 I only eat eggs when they are fresh prepared and when I got time to eat it right away.
Of course, hard boiled eggs are an egg-seption.
I never freeze eggs, just other leftovers or vegetables. Eggs are so easy and quick to prepare, it never occurred to me to freeze or store a scrambled egg or fried egg in the fridge. Maybe I would store some omelets or crepes or pancakes but there is hardly ever leftover.
When there is no time for cooking I just eat some slices of bread with butter, cold cuts and cheese.
