    Oh my goodness! Thank you! I've been playing recreational golf for over 30 years and have always struggled with balance because of my height (6ft 3in). Even though my clubs have been fitted and have extra length added to them, I always felt I had to bend down more simply because of my height. But when I swing the club from this position, my weight aways ends up on my toes. No doubt because the club is pulling me that way as I swing.
    At the range this morning I tried standing a bit more upright and my goodness what a difference! I felt WAY more stable throughout the entire swing and felt like I had loads more room to swing the club. Funny thing is, I dread to think of how many golf lessons I've had throughout my life and not one Pro has ever suggested that I stand a bit more upright to help with my balance issue. They all told me just to stick my backside out a bit more.
    If anyone struggles with balance because of their height, try what Paul suggests here and stand a little more upright.
    Thanks for posting this video Paul. Great stuff! Cheers.

      Hi Cooper!
      I appreciate your support and I’m so happy that this video helped you so much. Yes I find that most instructors say bend over more, but it is impossible to turn when you’re so tilted over from the hips, pulling the shoulders back and bending the knees a bit more to get the hip line a little bit more level makes it so much easier to turn in centers your Center of gravity closer to your arches where all athletic balance comes from!
      Also, I would suggest you think about TGM for a way to power the golf ball I find that it’s really Tall guys!
      Have you tried it?

    I’m 6’2 and played regular clubs for a couple years but recently picked up some Ping G425 white dots and despite being uncomfortable at first because i was used to the standard clubs I couldn’t imagine not having them. They are 3 degrees up and an inch long so I don’t have to bend my knees and squat holding that hight throughout my swing all day…the more tired that you get the more you stand up raising my shoulder hight and messing my swing up just like this gentleman is doing. At almost 50 years old I can’t squat for 3-6hours straight….now I’m trying to figure my driver out so I don’t have to squat and then swing because the angle for a 5’8 guy is totally different for a 6’2 or taller even so if anyone has advice I would love some advice. I hit straight and center but I’m squared super low and it’s not comfortable at all and if my knees hurt I start standing up throughout my swing. 🍻

      1 inch over 3 degrees upright is what I play as a 6’2” all leg’s player. I’ve been as much 4 degrees upright but early extension was the cause of that. A little change in the posture and I’m now 3 upright. I need at least 1” over on the shaft. 85-87 mile an hour swing speed and the regular shaft still works well. Good luck and happy golfing.

    I'm a shorter golfer (5'8") but have a fused spine from surgery 40 years ago and only my bottom two vertebrae work. Standing up straighter at address makes a lot of sense for me as it makes the swing MUCH easier on my back as there is much less side bend (which is impossible for me to do). Is standing up taller something you would recommend for people with a bad back and if so, would I need to get refit with longer clubs to adjust for that? Thanks!

    • @paulgormangolf
      @paulgormangolf  7 місяців тому

      You bet it would be good for you! There is a combination of things you can do to really help your back and turn more easily side bend.

I want clubs and lessons but am worried that both lessons with improper length clubs or trying to be fitted for a set of clubs without any proper swing mechanics would be spinning my tires in the mud. • @ChrisDavis333
    @ChrisDavis333 4 місяці тому +1

    Needs shaft extensions immediately. He will never strike the ball consistently with off the rack clubs, it’s impossible. Not only does he need shaft extensions but he needs to go a few degrees upright as well. His turf interaction is going to be terrible, he will struggle with contact and direction. Probably tops a lot of balls, being crouched down like that makes you come up out of your stance then your standing up and your clubs are too short to even remotely salvage it. It’s really tough, I’ve done it before, getting the right shafts and the proper lie angle made everything feel like it was easy mode. He needs it DESPERATELY or he won’t be playing the game for long because it’s going to be a miserable game and he will probably have some back pain as well.
