When I see these guys, 35 years after the beginning of the TNG series, it reminds me how fast time flies. I hope that they are able to "Live Long & Prosper" as well as William Shatner has (now 92 yrs old). This is a more than gentle reminder that "Father Time is undefeated" ...
Vereen apparently played Chicken George, grandson to LeVar Burton's Kunta Kinte, in the original "Roots" TV miniseries. So another connection between the two men.
This is a cause very close to my heart. My daughter has suffered from epilepsy for 23 years and though mostly seizure free now, that's only been the last 3. Thank you, Mr. Burton and Mr. Spiner.
My prayers are with you and your daughter. It is a very difficult disease to live with and it is so hard as a mother to watch your child suffering and not being able to make it all better. My daughter has been suffering through epilepsy since she was 11. She is not 19 and they are some what under control she will never be completely seizure free. My heart goes out to you and your daughter. And my prayers are with you. Your daughter is a true warrior.
I've had a seizure disorder for 35 years, since age 15, but I've been seizure free going on 11 years now. Best wishes that your daughter remains seizure free as well.
I love going to Cons & seeing the genuine affection & friendship between many SciFi ensembles. I've seen SW, multiple Trek casts, Babylon 5, BSG old & new, Buffy-verse, Firefly, Xena, etc... and while many are people (so there are dislikes), so many more are still friends well after the lights go out on their show/movie.
LeVar and Brent are actually closer friends than Geordie and Data. They don't have to pretend to be friends in character. They just have to pretend they didn't hang out and have lunch 2 days ago when they shoot their reunion scene....
There's an epic picture on the internet of the whole cast at Levar's wedding. Brent is also godfather to Gate's real life son (the story is hilarious, he apparently didn't know until it was happening.)
Thank you both for what you do. This is a cause close to my heart my daughter is an epilepsy warrior. She is my hero. Her epilepsy is very rare and very hard to treat. So thank you more then I can ever say for helping to bring awareness to this disease.
I'm epileptic myself. Sometimes I get so paranoid about an incoming seizure that I just stay on my bed. I wish your daughter all the best & am grateful she has her loving family
@@damiensteiner9919 I am so sorry. My heart breaks for everyone who suffers from seizures. It makes life so much harder. Thank you for the wishes. I wish you the best as well.
I guess because I’m old enough to remember TOS I would put myself in the Star Trek camp, but I also loved Star Wars when it came out, and in my mind, there are only three Star Wars movies. End of statement.
This StartTrek VS StarWars feud never made any sense to me. StarTrek to me is like a conversation between two intellectual friends, and StarWars is more of an epic song for the Ages. They are both very valid and and with very different settings and messages. StarTrek always made me think, whereas StarWars made me dream. I couldn´t for the life of me give up on any of them although I have more proximity to StarWars because it consumes less free time from my busy life. But I keep coming to TNJ every so often.
Love em both on the same for two different reasons. Star Trek tickles my Sci Fi/exploration fan side while Star Wars serves my fantasy/action based Sci Fi side. Two sides of the proverbial favorite coin in my collection.
Brent should have said, "Hellothere I'm Data and this is Geordi La Forge." "When we are not in Outer Space cruising for Space Tail we are proud to make people aware of epilepsy."
Star Trek and Star Wars could hardly be more different if we are considering they both take place in space to a big degree, Star Trek is science fiction while Star Wars to a big degree is fantasy with the princess and the force etc . Personally i love Star Trek to death amd dont care much for Star Wars, there is of course nothing wrong with liking either or both.
Precisely. I've always seen Star Wars (which I love!) as sword and sorcery fantasy with Western and Sci-Fi elements. Pure science fiction it is not. Whereas Star Trek is as pure scifi as it gets. Grew up on both, love both, and have never considered them to be in a remotely similar category.
@@TrinityJC Im glad im not alone in having this opinion, it seems like when you mention Star Trek then someone else mentions Star Wars as if they were similar, it has kind of bothered me for many years. For me its like comparing apples to oranges.
I have never been to a convention (nor will I ever) and that is in the main because when I see videos of them the questions asked in the panel sessions are (as you suggest) such that you wonder if the questioner has just watched the show for the first time just prior to attending. I know that I would also meet a lot of great like minded people but ....
Get both. Now, which universe would I rather be thrown into, if I had no choice but to pick one or the other? Heck, I don't think it makes a lot of difference. There's war and peace in both. Feast and famine in both. Improbable space travel physics in both. But Star Trek has replicators and transporters so I guess that's where the advantage lies.
You are correct they are two different worlds with two different kinds of stories and ethos is it does appear that Star Wars has a different feel about it compared to Star Trek track classic Star Trek used to be very optimistic in general. Well Star Wars was all about the wars and they still are.
Personally I wouldn't mind seeing them take up characters in the Star Wars universe. It would blow a lot of people's minds, which is an excellent reason to do it.
I’ve been, or rather was, an avid Wars buff the bulk of my lifetime. However I didn’t grow up with it as I did TNG. So Next Gen will always have a very special place for me. Growing up my dad was rarely home. He was an A-10 Thunderbolt combat pilot for 20+ years n the few times we got to hang out was watching TNG, so. But yeah these guys are legends. So many of us have great memories because of these guys. - So hard to believe it’s been 35 years, that just 🤯s my mind. Star Wars will always be equally as special just for different reasons. I loathe the damage Disney n the likes of Kathleen f*kin Kennedy have done to it though. Jon Favreau, and Dave Filoni have honestly tried to keep the spark alive and combat what that horde of imbeciles have done to it with the likes of Mando, but, imo, as long as she remains in any kinda position of power, our beloved saga will remain in tattered ruins. 😢
I too like them both, star trek and star wars, in different ways. Same with Brent and levar. It's like 2 types of cheese or wine. Well aged and an acquired taste. But yes I support the epilepsy fight and all who know of it and I care. I hope that helps. Please join the fight. My way is to tell others about it and understand the condition and that those who have it and their families are people too. I am on the autism spectrum and have gastroparesis. We are all humankind and should be treated with the same respect as everybody else.
