    I love how you can see the RTS legacy in a lot of these designs, exagerrated features that would be able to stand out from a bird's eye view

    1:04 From this angle you can see the Drinol's eyes, those dark spots on the left and right just above its 'jaw'. The big eye looking thing on its head is an echolocation organ.

    Is the Slug Man supposed to be a Hunter alien in a different suit? It was downright bizarre to shoot this guy cause it's been so long since the Covenant had a new form. The Sharqoui or Drinol or whatever the name is now, the giant alien beast thing, has had a render out there for a while and Marathon fans should recognize him.

    It’s really too bad the Drinol/Sharquoi was cut from both CE and 2. Sure, in terms of gameplay it was basically just a beefier berserking Hunter minus the hand-cannon. But, if they were to give it the ability to pick up and throw physics objects it would’ve been able to stand out in the sandbox.
    As a way to make the creature feel more complete you should give it mirrored version of its normal attack animation the thing randomly alternates between. That way it isn’t just swinging at you with the right hand and it’s attacks would feel more natural.
    The Slugman reminds me of the Skirmishers because they have the aggression of the Elites, and have similar health to the Jackals. The thing is also occasionally armed with the sniper so that strengthens the comparison. Since 343 has been canonizing the Digsite content I’m sure they’ll say it’s either a rare Lekgolo formation since it looks like a bunch of Hunter worms, or it will be another member of the Covenant Fringe (rare Covenant species that weren’t really deployed in mass because they were either rare, or they weren’t fit for combat). It will be interesting to see how this impacts the story and how people use them for mods. The thing also has orange blood so that strengths the Hunter comparison. Let’s hope we get the Tankbeast at some point (that’s another cut enemy that could EASILY be canonized as another formation the Lekgolo worms can take).

      The sharquoi was also going to be added to Reach iirc but they replaced it with the Guta.
      tbh I’d be down to also canonize the beta elites. Just say that they were a case of bio displacement by the Precursors from Sangheilios from an early ancestor of the elites (kinda like the case with jackals).

    In the lore one of those Sharquoi killed 50 ODSTs and tore a Brute apart with their bare hands and took a lot to finally put down.
    I also love the Slugman and his rifle, I hope they get added to the Covenant frunge as a unique species. Hopefully the Tank Beast crab/quadpod things get added too and are a bit like the Hunters from Half Life.

      Fun fact, the Guta was originally going to be a Sharqoi in Reach, but it was scrapped before they could get a model made and the attack ai was given to the Guta.

    The Slugman is easily my favorite addition. Such a cool goofy look. I hope they port this stuff forward to Halo 2 and 3 with updated graphics and animations. New enemy types like these would be sick.

      I like the Slugman too. His voice is pretty unique!
      It _would_ be cool to see them in the later Halo titles. Leave it to other modders to do it. I'm sure it's already been done now.

    I recently realized that in terms of functionality the Skirmishers and the Slugman are VERY similar. Both are these agile aggressive enemies that are right below Elites, and double as a sniper. It would definitely be interesting to know if the Slugman evolved into the Skirmishers or if Bungie just happened to have the same idea twice. If someone were to add Skirmishers into CE they could probably just reuse the Slugman’s behaviors and add a new model.
    Hunterunt ported the Sharquoi/Drinol over to Halo 2 (same goes for the Engineer and he’s planning on doing the Slugman next) and he kept the 1,000 hp, but made the “eye” a weak spot that has 100 health. He also made the armor be bulletproof for small arms fire. Maybe, you could use that idea, but make it so the creature flinches when you shoot it’s “eye” as a way to show you’re really hurting it.
    How is the mod coming along? I hope that it’s running along smoothly. Good luck on it. If you’re dealing with something far more important like real life be sure to just focus on that until you get things sorted out.

      Hi, Shrek Snow!! It's been a while. :)
      That is a very interesting observation. They do handle similarly... I would say: it's likely that the idea for the Skirmishers could've been recycled from the Slugman. Bungie has created ideas all the way back in Halo CE that they used for Halo 2 & 3, so it's entirely possible. That said, they could've had the same idea twice too lol. Also, your idea to add the Skirmishers to Halo CE using the Slugman's animations is smart! No guarantees, but I could potentially do that in the future. I'm just not fond of the Skirmishers lol. More jackals... xD
      I didn't know this "Hunterunt" fella until you mentioned him, and I looked him up. Seems to be a Halo 2 version of my channel. That's cool that he's porting those characters over to H2! I like the "eye weak spot" idea, and the bulletproof armor is a unique concept! I could try to add those properties to him sometime in the future.
      The mod is coming along great! Just slowly. You came with an "on time" message, because you're exactly correct. My real life is taking priority over this channel, and it's evident by my lack of uploading in the last month. I took a week break from making any mods after doing an INTENSE amount of work on the mission "The Library." That will tell you how far along I am...Only a few missions left to work on. I've been trying to balance my life with this mod and some other things... I'm taking it one day at a time, and doing as much as I can. When I get burnt out on one project, I come back to work on another. I recently came back to Halo CE in the last week and made something awesome. I don't wanna say what it is yet, but it's really cool! I like to keep things secret until release because I want there to be many surprises. :) I might make a video on it, but I'm not sure yet. We'll see how the week goes.
      I hope this is a worthy update for the progress of my mod. It's definitely coming along! I appreciate that are still people curious and waiting for my work to be released.     Ive been in love with this level digsite since i was a kid. always tried to search and see for any footage on the E3 demo map and more footage on it but never been able to find anything except for those trailers. Now im starting to see so much more footage of this map and the cut content!! its amazing thank you for sharing!!

      @@halomodder If you make another video with this map, make sure to add gameplay on the thorn beasts and blind wolves! those had to be the most interesting creatures in the E3 demo!

      Yes it is! A long time ago (I can't remember when. Like a year ago), I got tired of the OG HUD and made my own based on GTA V's because I love how concise it is. Halo 1's radar and health are separated, but GTA V's radar combines everything together making it faster and easier to read. Your eyes don't have to look from top right to bottom left anymore, and it gives more screen space!

    These definitely remind me more of enemies from earlier Bungie games, particularly Marathon 1, with their more cartoony looking designs. Pretty cool to see them in action.

    When the mod released I was so excited to fight theee guys and not just the covenant...
    The naked elites were cool but I wanted to see more cut content

      There's actually a lot of cut content that was included, but not everything is complete like what I displayed in this video. Most things need animations, and a lot of work implementing, etc.
      I'm still yet to go through it all.

      Although it may look like it, this is not freecam. I created a scripted camera sequence to display the enemies with. Everything you're seeing was recorded ingame.
