Big learning curve since I’m not from a dirt bike back ground. More like Holigan and crotch rockets the last 42 years, skydiving and paragliding. Too old to start wingsuiting 😜

Good videos! I like how you have fun with it as well like when you tipped it down hill lol. This will be my third year riding, i picked it up really fast as a dirt biker, but it's good to see other peoples solutions to situations.

awesome! im gonna follow your teachings! lol. everyone should cuz you are more experienced. one thing though. a contractor bag maybe two or three. duct tape rolls to build a fire. cotton balls in vasaline. if you are in trouble a fire is the best security!

Hi Cody! Great vids and tips. Im from Kitimat BC 64 yrs old and haven't ridden a dirt bike in decades. Next week I go to pick up a new 450 FX and a track system is on order. Im stoked to cause grief in the North Coast mtns. next season Yay!

do you have a bit of a build list planned?
my minimum I reccomend is RMR Suspensions snowlike setup in front and C3 thermostat to keep motor warm, everything else is just added bonus!
@@CodyMatechuk111 Thanks Cody, I know jack about snowbikes. lol. I went with the Timbersled ARO 137 with the third fork and upgraded suspension. Just got a cheap snowcover for the engine, and the C3 thermo. Going to check the RMR stuff out.

I've been traversing wrong, not turning downhill but up into the hill, duhh....., I'll try the downhill turn on my next traverse with my Riffain Send -E electric bike.

Cody! These videos are amazing. I really liked the tip down section, but all of it is great. Keep going! I've already had to learn some of these things the hard way, but learning techniques from the best is always helpful. Is your tether kill switch located below your air intake stack? Why is that? Longer lead before it pulls out? Also do you dead head your coolant system so you could shut down the bars, and run the engine in the event of damaged bars. I have already damaged bars and had this problem. I went back to stock bars for learning purposes, but I am ready to go back to coolant bars. I am on a 19 yz450fx, and I have been playing around with the EFI a lot in the mapping app. I was very rich and thirsty in the beginning, but now I have leaned it way out. I have been running -3 on fuel and +3 on timing. This seams to have saved a lot of fuel, but now I may be too warm and lean. Obviously it is condition dependent, but could you provide some insights on how you have your rig mapped? That would be great! Also on my biggest jump yet I compressed really hard (into the snow after initial suspension compression) and upon rebound I went over the handlebars! It was deep so all is well, but if you did a how to video that would be awesome as well. It is similar yet different from dirt bike jumping clearly. Sorry for the long post, but I really like your information. The bike how to build helped me tremendously after my handlebar break. Thanks again!
Hey Stewart! first off I appreciate the kind words and glad I can help!!
- Tether ... I located there because its easy to mount on the air box cover, the airbox cover with the CR intake gets cut, so you can't use it for summer anyways, therefore it makes sense to put the tether there cause you have to drill a hole for that as well, its out of the way and pulls nice when you need it to!
- Coolant, I don't have a dead end valve but the way that I do the install I could take one of the C3 coolant lines and just quick release it to bypass the bars. but I have never had troubles with bars yet. I have an install vid for the bars/coolant kit
-Mapping, I run a PLX Sport ECU sold through C3 Powersports, that ECU is sooo good! the stock ECU is not ideal. it has a Cold mode that over fuels it self, no live altitude compensation, and not tuned for the winter. ECU is a great upgrade.
- Jumping, my guess is you landed track first on your jump which is the reason you went over the handlebars! you need to land ski first and submerge the bike almost like jumping a jet ski, submerge it then jump out of the snow again! even on the BIG stuff I land ski first, videos are coming!

What gear do you usually ride in I'm not tryna blow the bike up
I try to gear and tune my bikes to have 2nd has the work horse gear. If I can run second in POW and climb with out it bogging down then I’m happy! Running stock gearing on bike and kit, 13T, 41/47
And RP back country pipe, PLX ECU, CR racing intake
The down turn is key in super nasty steep terrain he's dead on with these tips
haha hell ya it is! I want to do a Wheelie style re entry but didn't have enough footage so I will get one going shortly! its a good tip if you find your self climbing a gully
what kind of sock are you using over your speaker mic?

Oh yea, it’s one I bought with the radio. It’s a baofeng radio from Dave Norona. And he sold it to me in a kit with the mic cover, I have to look at it to tell you brand
Do you run a rekluse?
No, on my race bikes I run the rekluse torc drive (manual) but no automatic clutches
@@CodyMatechuk111 interesting. What about your back country bikes? I don’t see how people run without it. There are so many times when I get stuck that it would be virtually impossible to run the clutch to get unstuck.
@@tradingcurrency1 Back country bikes I run either stock or the manual from recluse. all manual clutches though. I much prefer to ride the manual clutch!
what size Yamaha where you riding ?
450! for mountains you pretty much need the 450, flat land stuff and ditch banging you can get away with a 250f though!
@@CodyMatechuk111 , nice, can you give me an idea for complete setup like you have there , what cost would be for both the bike and track, and needed other "Stuff" just like to get a sense what I need to save up for :)
@@charlespalmerii4299 Depends on brands and what you wanna build, some parts are necessary and some are luxuries, also lots of differences in retail bike prices. now a days retail price for a bran new 450 is at least 11K Canadian... Lets put it this way, budget 800-1500$ for front suspension, Budget and around 4-5k for the rest of the goodies to be fully dialled!
