Great video! Built a 2016 300xc this year and absolutely love it! Have a ARO 120 on it, but wouldn't mind getting the 129 for a bit more float. Keep sharing the 2 smoker love!
Looks awesome. I'd like to build a yz250 snowbike. Are you finding jetting the carb a pain? or can your stick to the same setup for most of your ride? I would likley be riding 6K to 10K range....
Personally I run the same jetting winter and summer. I don't touch it once I have found the proper settings for my elevations. In the summer the air density is lower and I generally ride at lower elevations. In the winter the air density is higher and I usually ride at higher elevations. If I drop below 5k feet I sometimes will mess with it. but I find my settings work well for 5k-12k summer and winter usually.
What's your jetting? I used my mountain needle from Jeff Slavens a few days and he told me he was very surprised I didn't seize my motor. It ran great. I changed to a K pos 2 and lost power. I'm not sure where to go next. Was thinking L pos 3. The jets are 35 and 155. Altitude: 7-10.5k.
I’m using Mikuni jets. I tried the JD kit but went back to Mikuni. Ktm Needle - 42-75 top clip Main - 400 Pilot - 22.5 I run the same summer and winter. Higher elevations and denser air in the winter, lower elevations and less dense air in the summer. Seems to work great.
It’s more than just a lighter bike. Less rotational mass in the motor makes for a much more maneuverable machine and the power delivery is explosive and fun.
Two stroke is the way to go. But the 250 is better than the 300 for snowbikes. Also TPI over Carbureted for sure, much better than smartcarb or lectron. You're ripping man. Looks like you're having a blast.
My 300 rips but I wouldn’t be afraid to put a kit on a 250. I find the carb bikes put out better power IMHO. They are less sensitive to motor temp variations compared to TPI also.
@@TrevynNewpher Yeah after watching your video you have quite a bit done to the bike. I'm sure that 300 rips. I only have a smartcarb/carb heater/v force4 and a pipe on my 300 with aro 120. But my 250tpi with aro 120 is stock and seems to not sign off as quick as the 300 and doesn't require any of the heating accessories. But I'm sure head work would really help out with the top end rpms. Seems super dialed in, in your videos.
I’m on a 2021 riot Velocity in this video, 120 length/2.5 track. 2022 is the first year offering a 129/3” track. I will be putting a riot3 on this bike this winter. The motor previous to 2017 are not counterbalanced. They arguably can produce more power though due to less drag. Get that thing tuned right with some mods and it will sing. Alpine motorsports in Kremmling, CO dialed my 2019 in.
I've riden my 2smoker for 2 season now. Stock 250xc with a dts129 and 137aro Le on a 2013 300Xc with Sx head and cdi from slaven racing, red pv springs and shorty pipe. It is the most fun i had in snow ever. you'll need carb heat as the slide stick open sometime and the vent clog from icing. Oh and dont forget spare gas, those things chug like crazy. I have some video on my channel
Looks and sounds awesome man! I have a ‘2017 250sx with a head and 38mm cast smartcarb running half vp110 and it runs awesome. Have a 120 ARO le on it. If I have the momentum it keeps up with and pulls away a bit from stock 450’s. Feels 70lbs lighter on the snow than them. I would love to try a ported with head 300 on a Riot 129/3” !
@@TrevynNewpher Awesome! I can't wait to see some videos of that setup next winter! I think I'll be on my ARO 120le with a 300sx kit next winter then hopefully Riot 3 the next!
@@TrevynNewpher What do you think about an ARO3 on a 300? Do you think the 300 has enough torque than a 4t for the 3" paddles? Track speed? Also in general what do you think about the climbing capabilities of the ARO compared to RIOT?
@@andrew0275 my 300 is kind of unique in that the motor has been built out. It runs super strong and pulls harder than any other 300 I’ve ridden. My buddies built out 450 will pull it slightly on big climbs with taller 3rd or 4th gear pulls. That being said the power delivery on the 300 is super fun and explosive. I plan to put a Riot3 on it next winter. I don’t think it will be the fastest thing out there but certainly the most fun. It should work well I think. The 3” tracks aren’t the fastest kits on snow if it’s firm out or on roads. They carry great speed, traction and drive in the fresh though. For Colorado and our dry bottomless snow I think it’s the best setup.
I would dare say that it is more fun. Fuel injection is a nice convenience and better in some aspects for sure. In the two stroke world I haven’t found the TPI 300s to perform like the carbureted 300.
@@TrevynNewpher that's a sweet and kinda rare bike! I'm wanting too get a 300 2 stroke rode one over the summer for work. But I'm just trying too decide how too go about it.
