    Though the concept of snow bikes has been around for decades, it wasn’t until the last few seasons that the sport started to progress to the high-level we’re seeing today. The limits are being pushed further and further with each season seeing bigger lines, jumps and new terrain explored. At the tail-end of the 2017 season, a crew of legends set out over the course of a few weeks to shred terrain both old and new and created a four-part series called ‘Powder Hounds.’
    All-time conditions strike in the series finale as Reagan Seig, Darren Berrecloth, Robbie Maddison and Brock Buttars throw down in the steep backcountry bowls and chutes of British Columbia. Claw uses his MTB skills to shred unique lines while Maddo comes into his own as a snowbike rider.

    Tough life those guys live...ha ha just being sardonic , these guys are living the dream. I use to race Moto-cross back in the 80’s and would love to try one of these awesome snow bikes. Wonder how a 1995 CR 500 would be with a conversion, I see they’re all 4 strokers. Must need a lot of low end torque in that deep pow pow.

    Another problem with these Snowbikes, besides the power, is the price; You can buy a pretty decent second hand snowmobile for about half the price of a decent snowbike kit, and that's if you already have a dirtbike to put it on. If you have to buy a bike too, you're looking at least a $10,000 investment with a second hand dirtbike, and you can buy a hell of a nice sled for 10k. Or buy a decent used one for ~3k and spend 2k on mods and maintenance and have something way more capable for half the price of a snowbike.

      Dabby DeVito yah but... snowbike

    • @caleguenther8947
      @caleguenther8947 6 років тому

      But you can also ride that bike 4 seasons out of the year. And it would seem like there is a lack of power but thats just not really how they operate. It is slow but they can crawl through most anything due to the angle of the track. Not saying your points aren't valid, however for 10k you get a bike for 4 seasons or a sled for 1.

    • @kamoterorl

It's something we all accept, we've all lost friends which is why the avalanche safety technology has advanced so much. Im not saying it's a full proof plan but it all helps. We live the lives we live and we wouldn't be livin u less we were doing this. Im not saying it's an excuse or reason for ppl to enter the backcountry, butttt you ain't livin unless your almost dyin.

      2enjoihsu yea I used to say the same! Tons of factors limit that being able to be done. The bike is ridiculously rear heavy which makes getting full rotation almost impossible. Now same with snowmobiles the rear belt/track drive system is forward propulsion instead of rotational propulsion you get with a wheel. The only way to get a snowmobile to backflip is a steep kicker jump where quarter of the rotation is already completed before airborne, same for snowbikes.

    FYi: for those NOT in the know: the big 6 mark up their bikes (and equip) because they know they will be giving away a TON OF merch, etc. I used to work for one of them and it's RIDICULOUS how much is added to the purchase price of a new machine, and anyone who tells u different is lying to us all simply because they just don't know the three steps before it gets to them. This is why more and more manufacturers are appearing...the see these holes to be filled in the market and people notice. It's only now where we will see prices start to drop because the tech REALLY hasn't changed since 2005 but very minor changes. By now, commonplace should be carbon fibre frames and for forks as STANDARD OEM equipment, lightest of weights. As well...fluids should have been faded out. Coolant: NO NEED, oil and lubes: NO NEED. All cured and EASILY replaced by magnetic fields and vortex generating coils/ Rodin Vortex Generating coils. So easy!!!!!! Tires: compounds that last twice as long are already used on jets but not consumer products. Hmmmmm.
