this was super useful as starting out with photography. super simple and easy!
Showed us how to set the camera, short and right to the point without lots of talk/talk/talk. Excellent and Thanks !! Liked and subscribed.
Thank you Larry!
Exactly, people talk way too much in most videos.
Thank you Travis!!!!!
Recently got my EOS T7 and had no idea how to set it. Thank you for getting right to the point now I can take better photos for my boyfriend at his soccer games.
I have been looking for someone describe how to use this camera, but I have finally I found you. Thank you so much for your tips.
Love it that you just got stuck into the video without loads of other information. By far the best video I have seen thus far. Thank you!
I'm trying to take photos of my kids! I'm definitely trying these settings tomorrow! Thank you for the clear and concise explanation!
Travis, God bless you for sharing your knowledge and skill. You made a huge difference in the quality of my actiom photos. You are awesome. Consice directions were invaluable!
This is the PERFECT UA-cam tutorial. Thank you.
6 years later, thank you! About to take my first set of action shots📸
same here!
Bless you for a short video that's to the point! I'll be trying this out today.
I have a ton of great camera equipment and no idea how to use it. This video was SUPER helpful. Thanks. Peace.
Thank you for your help! So excited about my new camera but it's all new to me.....Great voice and I love your nice simple way of explaining! Subscribed! :)
Ty
Thank you so much!
Thank you
Hi Travis
i shoot a local 5k run every Saturday i took your advice and Brill more or lesss every image sharp weather was wet and light levels were challenging so i changed iso to 3200 and they all came out great Thanks for the tip
Outstanding! Glad to hear it!
Much appreciation for keeping it short and simple!
So helpful! Thank you so much!!!
Excellent! Glad to hear it!
Straight to the point .. Thnxx
Thank you brother 🤙
I am looking at getting a t7, and will use it for taking pictures and videos of trains in motion as well as possibly some nature photos. How does the t7 do compared to the M50 for things like sports/motion photography/videography?
What I like about your videos is that you get straight to the point….no long unnecessary introduction or drawn out “ info” that has no relevance to what the subject is…great job!
I do have one question…for youth outdoor sports what setting would you use for the “quality” of the pictures on the Canon EOS Rebel?
highest quality possible
@@travisbellcreative Hi Travis, thanks for answering my question….I’m shooting pictures of my grandson’s baseball games. I am using a Canon Rebel T3 camera. What settings would you recommend using for taking the pictures? My Canon has a sports mode option, but was wondering if there are other settings that could be better to use?
@@steelerboy25 Hey JF, I offer Facetime, Zoom or Skype Sessions when it comes to going into this much detail. Feel free to contact me through the contact page on my website at travisbellcreative.com and i can send you pricing. Thanks!
Simple and to the point, thanks.
luka zupie did it work?
Hasina Swann i am sony user and had 1 job in sports this weekend. I rented 6d in the end (i have canon 70-200 2.8 at home) since i was afraid light will not be sufficient, so I didn’t follow those direct instructions, but similar. It worked great and i am very happy with results.:) 650d would be good enough probably as far as high iso, idk about autofocus.. i was shooting indoor swimming kids btw.. 6d central point can focus in quite a bit lower light compared to 650d and is probably faster too, i don’t really know. Swimming pool was quite bright so i can crop heavily and still have solid quality. Good luck!:)
Glad you liked it. Thanks!
Thank you sir
Hey I shoot a video and audio last night and I don't know if I should have had done that I usually keep it on higher than that I don't know if that's a good thing?
Great, just got a Canon 7i, my first sports event photos were crappy, I used the sports setting, never again. Hope to get better photos using the settings recommended here. Thanks again.
Absolutely! Good Luck wth future shoots!
What would you recommend for Mx racing? I’m usually having to follow the subject fast and shoot at the same time. I have it on continuous mode, so I get a few good pics in the bunch but I’m also usually shooting from a distance with a 75-300mm lens. Thank you in advance for any advice you could possibly give.
I’m in the same boat!
How many pictures does it take in continuous shooting? And does this work on T7?
Would any of these settings be different if you're using the telephoto lens?
Is the t5 good enough and what lens is best?
Excellent advice!. Can you tell me which focus point setting to use?. I have the Canon 800D.
I was taking photos of Killer Whales yesterday using P Mode but the Auto Focus points were struggling with the sea so when the Orcas surfaced(they were killing a seal) no matter how many times I tried re-focusing most of the Orca pics came out blurred.
I think I'd need a single point focus point setting but I'm not sure which one.
Or should I have had a faster shutter speed but with the 45 point AF zone?.
Thanks :)
Choose the middle focus point. Good luck!
@@travisbellcreative Thanks!.
Does using the zoom affect these settings or can I still use zoom? I can’t get close enough to the action not to use it
Thank you for making this easy! Sub +1!
Do you shoot these settings in sport mode? And whats the best zoom lenses, please.
This was very helpful for me as a new photographer shooting Little League baseball. I have found that as it gets dark in our evening games my pictures are very dark at these settings. Although they are perfect and beautiful until the sun goes down. What are your settings and how do you adjust as the sun goes down but there are lights?
Glad this has worked out well for you! Here's a video on using manual mode for indoor and nighttime sports (link below). As far as making the transition from daylight to nighttime, I offer Facetime or Phone Sessions where I can teach you those details. Use the contact page on my website to inquire. www.travisbellcreative.com
Hi Travis, thanks for the great info! One question, for shooting day time or dusk soccer, should the lens be on AF or MF? Thanks
AF
@@travisbellcreative Thank you!
Tried this the other day and help alot. Now I need to figure out what settings I need to use for night.
jason blue same here
Same
Will be posting an episode about that soon!
Hi, love your videos! Should have watched YEARS ago when I got the Cannon Rebel T3i. Anyway, I am now shooting, mostly daylight soccer games. I followed your video to go to TV and set the shutter speed to like 1/1000 for soccer games. But, when I put the dial to sports mode, it seems to go back to 1/200 or 1/400. How do I get the shutter speed to stay at 1/1000? Do I shoot the game in sports mode or TV? So confused. I can't see where to have the dial at sports mode and change the shutter speed from there. A lot of the pictures are turning out blurry. Thank you
Thank you Bridget! I offer Facetime or Phone Call Sessions to go over more settings details if needed. Please visit the contact page on my website at www.travisbellcreative.com to inquire.
Thank you so much! Though for some reason I have all my settings the same as yours but the photo is very dark even if i turn the exposure up...
Mickey, there could be a number of things going on with this. I offer a 30 minute Skype session for $75 if you're interested. I'll answer any questions related to photography as well. Visit my website at www.travisbellphotography.com for my contact info.
It's tough without being in the same shooting conditons you were to know what happend. Could be several things. Keep trying the settings!
Is it possible to taking pics for soccer sports comes out fast?
nice!
What lens would you recommend for this setting ? My daughter is on flag team and that what im looking to take photos of, he and her team at performances. I have a Rebel T6 and i have a 5 different lens. But im trying to decide which one would be best.
Hey, Jessica, I offer phone, Facetime/Skype sessions where I can go over camera settings and any other photography questions you have. Contact me through my website at travisbellcreative.com
Is daylight the same settings as indoor basketball lighting?
does this work with any lens?
What lens do you recommend? I have the 18 - 55mm or 55 - 250mm I am on the field
Are these settings the same for recording?
Hey Ik this is late but could you tell me what kind of camera it is t5,t6 etc
Followed the video instructions and when I took pictures the camera told me “no image”. Tried a different SD card just incase and same thing. Any ideas?
What is your opinion on the tamron 18-400mm lens for sports?
Sorry. I have never used that lens.
I loved your video and just subscribed. I am struggling with taking action sports shots, rowing. I followed your video, and I am going to try these settings tomorrow. Question, is this set overall on automatic mode or manual mode?
Thanks bro!
Hello Travis. I would like You to recommend me a telephoto lens for canon t6i. I take photos Of bull riding. Can You recommend me some
Trying to take a few practice pics indoors after switching settings. The photo won’t show up on my camera at all … any suggestions ?
can you please answer me, I was wondering if the 18-55mm lense with the Cannon rebel t6 is fine for out door sports shooting. I need it to record football/soccer games. I'd really appreciate it if you could reply to me with an answer and maybe a suggestion or advice. thanks
Hey, I believe you're going to need a longer lens than that. That's just not going to have the reach you need to pull the action in. If you'll let me know your budget I can recommend the right lens.
Travis Bell yes I want something to film games but also to use for other things but mainly filming games. not sports photography, not close up photos or anything like that, just wide end you know footage, I have about $500 CAD maybe $600CAD but that's pushing it
I"m sorry, my expertise is sports photography so not sure how to answer.
what I mean is, will the 18-55mm be enough to see whats going on from a fans view? Like will you be able to see the players and the ball? I dont need close up just a broad video really. Thanks so much, sorry to bother you.
Hey, not sure, I've never tried that before.
Would this setting work well for equestrian jumping outdoors?
Do you have to stay in M mode to shoot? The screen shoots black photos when I do. But when I move to sports mode it is still blurry.
Hey, McKaylen, the video mentions shooting in Tv mode, not Manual. If you have questions, I offer tutorial Facetime/Skype sessions. To inquire about details and pricing, visit www.travisbellcreative.com and use the contact form.
How can I get more shots under my continuous shooting for softball. I am focus on a pitcher and currently only getting like 3 shots per pitch.
Hey, Julie, I offer phone, Facetime/Skype sessions where I can go over camera settings and any other photography questions you might have. Contact me through my website at travisbellcreative.com
this camera can only do 3images per pitch. buy a modern camera like the canon r10, which can do 15 frames per pitch.
What about indoor sports, like wrestling?
I'll be posting about indoor photograph soon. Keep an eye on this channel!
Any update on the indoor shooting video? I got a indoor track meet in a week, haha
Will these settings work for indoor sports? If not how can I adjust?
check out my video on how to do this. ua-cam.com/video/8905h7-kYT4/v-deo.html
My continuous shooting is super slow on my T6. Like 1 shot a second. It won’t speed up!
Would these be the right setting for shooting daylight sports video as well?
Negative
What is best lens for sports?
Depends on the sport you're shooting. Which sport?
My pictures are dark as hell with these settings how to fix that 😢
i know how to send pictures from muy camera to my phone and it doesnt let me send videos, do you know how to send vídeos from a canon t6 to an iPhone
sorry, not sure how to do that.
The Canon Connect app should help. Otherwise, hook it up to a computer and go through the old fashioned way.
Are theses settings using a tri pod?
Negative.
Thank you sir...going to give it a try at my sons game.My pics have been coming out with the whites overpowering the shots...
negative. these are for hand holding the camera. try to avoid taking a tripod for sporting events. hand hold or use a monopod.
Hi what is the best lens for football both day and night. I’ll be renting the lens
400mm f/2.8
@@travisbellcreative thank you
@@travisbellcreative I’m sorry it’s youth football so will the cannon 70-200mm or 28-300mm take good photos with a rebel t6?
@@angieshaw6676 If it's at night it has to be the 70-200.
Please tell us how to Shoot night football on rebel T7 as soon as possible please
Is any possible way for night shooting I take pics for soccer sports comes out fast on sports mode
Will be posting about that soon!
Check out the video I just published about shooting night games at ua-cam.com/video/8905h7-kYT4/v-deo.html
I did all these settings but when I take a photo it’s all black, what can I do to fix this
Is it the same for video shooting sports.
Video is different.
Is it okay if my camera only goes up to 200 shutter speed
Sports images have to be captured with at least 500 shutter speed so 200 will not work.
How come my camera only record video for 8 seconds then stop?
what about aperture? I dont see a setting for that. Thanks
in this mode, the camera automatically sets the aperture for you.
What about night games ?
I'll be posting about that in about two weeks. Keep an eye on this channel!
Check out the video I just published about shooting night games at ua-cam.com/video/8905h7-kYT4/v-deo.html
Just lower shutter and higher iso
Can anyone tell me the best lens to get on a budget for this camera for my daughter for sports photography?
Let me know your budget and I’ll be glad to make a recommendation.
She has the canon rebel T6 with two lens I believe they are a 18-55 and 70-300…my question is should I get a new body to fit her lens or completely start over. She’s in college now taking sports photography pics and says she needs a faster shutter but I know absolutely nothing about cameras. I would like to find something nice but cheap as I’m on disability from a car wreck and would have to make payments on it.
@@travisbell08 ?
Everyone always gives the setting but no one talks about the focus
Why is my picture so dark
at 0:42 look at his top right, ISO is yours on auto?. if yours is on auto and its dark, then reduce your shutter speed from 1/1000 to 1/500. that should help. if it doesnt help much then get another lens like the 70-200 f2.8
