Tips Paul shared for Canon DSLR - tips apply to all recent Canon models
1. Quick Access instead of Menu: Q-button - can be a timesaver
2. Drive and Self-timer Mode: button looks like a deck of cards
3. Live View Mode: Camera symbol on the button - see the image in real-time
4. Picture Style: Back and White shooting: Q-button - Picture Style -> Monochrome = Black + White
5. Memory Card: format and reformat card: Menu -> Tool Option.
Thanks, Paul! You're a real Photo Genius!
Thank you! I am ashamed to say that after owning my camera for about 2 years (mostly kept in its carry bag) I have picked up so many useful tips for our upcoming trip. You are a great teacher, and I for one appreciate your time and effort.
I’ve had mine for 5 years and literally just learned more than I have ever known about it -.-
Very happy to help. Thanks for watching and supporting my channel.
One of the simplest and informative beginner videos I have watched. The LIVE view suggestion to get a general sense of what type of picture you will be getting is top notch!
Glad to be of help - thank you very much for watching and taking the time to comment.
Paul @ Photo Genius 😀
I’ve been watching photography videos on UA-cam for years and I have to say yours are some of the most informative I’ve ever watched. Lovely pace to your speech and excellent teaching so thank you. After watching this video I’m going to try monochrome.
I agree !
I've been shooting for about a year - nothing professional - just around the house and around town - but just now realized some of the functions I had no idea my camera had or how to access or use them !!! This one video just shed a ton of light (pun intended) onto my photography world !!! Thank you very much for sharing a video that many don't even think to do !
Thank you for communicating this clearly, concisely, and an easy to understand way.
You are welcome, thanks for watching.
Use the Timer+C , and use multiple shots - Great for group pix where folks may have closed their eyes at different times. Love this feature ! I can be in the shot, and still take bursts
Love this channel! From a beginner to a professional photographer...sending you a huge thank you!!!!
Thanks Kristy, very much appreciated.

I just got my first camera for Christmas. It's like the one you use. The Canon EOS Rebel T7. I'm so happy I found you on UA-cam. Your tutorials have been fabulous! I feel so much more secure with my camera now. Thank you
Got this for Christmas and I’m not one bit disappointed. I always had my eye on this one as it’s cheap yet quality. Great video, helped me learn my camera!
A great Christmas gift 🎁. Thanks for watching, enjoy your new camera and please consider subscribing 👍
Nathan Tiffeb its christmas again wohoo
Thank you so much. I have learned so much in just one video. I especially love that you actually don't talk so far about everything and go through things so quickly. I have seen videos where I was more confused after watching them then I was before.
You are producing great videos where people actually can learn. Thank you!
Thank you kindly Rose, I really do appreciate the kind feedback and I'm glad you are enjoying the videos. Best wishes to you.

Hi Paul, thank you so much for this great run-through. I found it really helpful, especially that info about the card. I never would've even considered all of that. Big help! Love all your videos.
Finally somebody who explains really well , I’m a new subscriber too . Look forward to more T6 help and tip videos . Thanks .
Thanks for watching 😀
soupdragon12345 know exactly what you mean...you have seen some of the American ones I take it ?... sheeeesh they exhaust you, they take ages to get to the point and can’t talk without shouting at you and getting all over excited...and everything is “Awwwwwsome”....very loudly 😂😂..I learnt more from this short video than from loads of those American ones I have tried watching 😂
Finally an educational channel that I actually understand! Thankyou 🙌🏽
Thank you so much for making understanding my camera EASY! I've been into photography for 18 years and only recently got a real camera last year for my birthday but was and slightly still am intimidated by all the features my camera does. You taught me how to use manual in just a few videos! Thank you, thank you!!!
This is so helpful, thank you so much! I've been watching lots of photography videos but most are too advanced for me as there's lots I don't understand and most of the other beginner videos I can find are just about the exposure triangle (which has been drilled into my brain after all the videos I've seen lol). I've been really needing videos like yours to explain everything in between!!
Glad to read the videos are helping. Of course understanding the exposure triangle is extremely important - but there is so much more to learn and I hope my channel can provide plenty off extra tips and tricks to help you get even better photos.
Thanking you for your support.
Just got this camera from Santa, this is a brilliant, easy explanation of how to use it. Thanks

Great video! After watching this video you have inspired me to blow the dust off my 1100D and get back into photography. Other than point and shoot cameras, my only experience has been free fall photography with an old Pentax SLR mounted on a helmet many years ago... Your tips were very easy to understand, brief and leaving me wanting to learn more. You have a new subscriber in me 🤙 Many thanks

Hey man. Great video. I am some what of a beginner at photography with the canon rebel t6. Have had it for just over a year but am still learning the many functions it is capable of. One thing you mentioned was that you can gets separate shutter remote that attaches to the side of the camera. But also one thing I learned shortly after getting the camera is that you can download a canon app to your phone and use that to operate the shutter wirelessly. It’s a great feature. It’s also great if you run out of space on your cameras SD card because you can download all your photos on the go and then format your card. The only down side is that most phones if not all phones will not down load any video you may have taken. So be careful there or you may lose you videos unless downloading to a laptop or something other then a phone. Just thought you may want to mention those things in another video if you haven’t already. Otherwise like I said Great video and learning tool you have created. I will be watching more of your videos to learn as much as I can.
Thanks.
Thanks Ryan, I have discussed the app as an alternative to remotes in other videos. I've personally found the Canon app to be better than the Nikon when testing.
Appreciate your feedback and thank you for watching and supporting my channel.
Great video! Really helpful!
I’m always learning something from your videos. Thank you.
I love how he smiles every time after finishing giving a tutorial. lol.

These have been the most helpful videos EVER! Thank you so much!
Thanks. I’ve just bought my first dslr and while waiting for it to arrive I wanted to gain some tips so I’m ready. This is a very helpful video. I’ve never heard about formatting the memory card and that info is invaluable I’m sure! Thanks again 👍🏼
Thank you so much! I was having a pretty rough time finding the black and white mode on my camera, and I was starting to get mad. All I want to do is make some ART, and sometimes technology can be a little confusing. I sometimes miss the simplicity of using a film camera, without all the functions. However, I do enjoy the photo quality of the digital age. Thank you for explaining how to use the features in an easy way. Subscribed!
Thank you for this, I found it quite helpful as I'm trying to teach myself how to use this piece of equipment. PTL for UA-cam videos... amiright?!?
You are welcome, thank you for watching.
Excellent tips all round Thanks very much
It´s 4 am here... been waiting for a simple tutorial on how to use my camera features... thank you so much for this. Now I need to stay awake until the sun starts to rise and get a nice dim light... just a few more hours while I watch more of your videos hahaha.

Any of the techniques covered in our Canon video tutorials should also work on your 200D. If we had a 200D we would do a specific video on it but I'm afraid we don't.
Thanks for watching.

Nicely explained!! Thank you .
Okay you're starting out the gate at a full run and I haven't even figured out how to turn my camera on yet.
